I just tried Lucky Boy for the first time. It's small and only open 11-3. The interior is tidy with an aesthetic that brought me back to places I frequented in the 80s! But the immediate warm greeting I got was much friendlier. The menu is simple and the prices are great. I got an egg foo young burger and an egg roll to go. I didn't have long to wait and the food was tasty and filling. So glad I finally stopped in.

My first visit to this establishment was on November 30, 2025. It has nice parking and good signage. It's a small restaurant with seating of about 20 people. Greeted by the head chef and owner. Decor is casual and relaxed. The menu has a combination of foods in Chinese style, and various hamburgers. I had an egg foo young hamburger and was absolutely delighted and surprised with it. The prices here are excellent. This is casual dining with excellent food at wonderful prices. I absolutely recommend it.

It's Valentine's Day 2024, and Manana Cafe is reporting on a local restaurant that we really really love. Lucky Boy was the site of our first podcast broadcast on June 1, 2022. So, it was time for an updated report as we brought some new members of the VA Creative Writing Group there for the first time. Needless to say, we all enjoyed our Egg Foo Young burgers, and I think you will, too. Tasty food, friendly owners, and an incredibly unique ambiance that has been used twice as a movie set. So you get what you pay for right? Lucky Boy is probably the only place in town you can still get a full meal for so cheap. It is very much American Chinese food, sugary sauces and fried everything but you don't come to Lucky Boy expecting anything else. It is a great cheap eat, quick and friendly. The owners are super sweet and definitely worth chatting with. I just love how walking into the space is like jumping back a few decades. It is also just kind of cool how much attention it gets from local artists as well as big time movie producers. It's quirky and random. Remember to bring cash because if not you will miss out. To be fully honest, it took me years of living blocks away before I was able to check it out mostly because I never ever have cash on me.

Hole in a wall place. Where else could you get a full meal that fits a budget of $5 these days?!? The place isn't luxurious or anything...but does the job of curbing your hunger pretty well! You get a basic choice of hamburger or Chinese meal..and are able to feel satisfied financially and physically. The owners are nice, down to earth Chinese couple. They take the time to greet their customers as well. It seems they recognize their regular customers, too. Overall, great, awesome place to stop by for lunch. Not too far from home...and especially on the day when you feel like pinching pennies to save up some money. P.S. cash only! But the Costa are so affordable..so you don't need cards at all .really!

Went there & got lucky fried rice, chicken lo mein, egg roll, wontons& green chile burger. My coworker said the burger was a bit dry but wontons, fried rice, lo mein & eggroll were pretty good! The dishes don't have a lot of soy sauce which is nice because u can customize yourself. I'll go there again to try something else. Be aware that prices aren't the same on the menu posted. Both fried rice & lo mein were each $8.... Which is pretty reasonable. They give u a lot!

This Chinese eatery is a staple in NM. It's a wonder they haven't been in Diners, Drive in's and Dives yet! It looks pretty shabby outside and inside BUT the food is amazing and the prices will have you double blinking to make sure they are really that cheap. My boyfriend has been coming here over 30 years since he was a child. The same 2 people have owned and cooked fresh since the beginning. I always get the combo sweet and sour chicken plate. Chicken pieces are extremely big and juicy. I order a separate LUCKY FRIED RICE over their regular fried rice everytime because it has more veggies and a better taste. They also have green Chile cheeseburgers on the menu which I believe is the best in abq! We got all this food plus milkshakes in the photo for 19 dollars!! People saying its frozen from Costco dont know the couple who owns it. They make everything by hand every morning. Give it a try. The price alone is worth it!

Great servers! Everyone was helpful and kind so front of house manager must be doing their job!…read moreFood was delicious. Crispy Brussels sprouts had great flavor but way too much cayenne pepper (which adds nothing but heat) my husband ate them but said he would prefer less heat. I had 2 bites and gave up. Baked brie was amazing I loved the granny Smith apples! My husband loved them too. We also got the hummus duo which has dates on it and I used a date in the brie that was fantastic! I'll ask for that next time! It was the bomb. Hummus duo was good the watermelon radish was beautiful on the plate but gave both hummus a bitter flavor. Shrimp and grits. We live in Alabama currently and this was our least favorite dish of the day. Shrimp were cooked well and so were the grits but there was just something else it needed. Parmesan cheese and some onions maybe. Greek salad delicious. The flash fried chick peas made it. We needed more dressing and the wait staff was prompt and sweet about it. Spicy Lime Ceasar was ok till he requested more dressing then it was amazing. I was afraid of ordering it but the dressing wasn't too spicy . White sangria I had was disappointing it was more of a 1995 wine spritzer than a wine infused with citrus which is the very essence of sangria. It was ok and had I ordered a wine spritzer I would say yummo but I ordered sangria. Pork Belly flat bread was the winner of the night the tomato jam made that dish. I would love more on it next time but we will definitely be ordering that dish again! Yes we had a lot of left over food! But I love sampling a menu and this menu has a lot to offer. We will be back to try 4 or five other things. I look forward to my return.

In a rare turn of events, both kids got the same thing, the Korean chicken bites with the sauce on the side, which was a great decision bc it did have a kick to it. The chicken itself was a bit dry. Both adults also got the pork belly flatbread. I found it a bit unbalanced with too much sauce and not enough other toppings, and the base wasn't as crispy as I prefer. Speaking of crispy, we opted for the appetizer brussel sprouts, and they were a bit chewy and on the not so super crispy side. Service was fine, and glad to have a little break from heavier New Mexican cuisine on this night. Lots of variety on the cocktail and adult beverage menu too.

One is the darker bar area but we were seated in a room full of full length windows that opened. I had a flight of their beers and enjoyed them all. For lunch I had their red chile bbq pork sandwich while my wife had the enchiladas. The food is a mix of Southern soul food and New Mexican standards. My wife actually preferred her food here over the well regarded New Mexican restaurant we went the previous day. I really liked my sandwich with its kiss of heat.

Only the other one in the South Valley (where we never go) has them. The tv commercials didn't say that. I did let the servers know this bc I felt it was false advertising. We got a Flight of 4 different beers and "settled" on a fried fish w salad which was ok and their grilled catfish tacos which you had to eat w a fork bc they were too messy to pick up w your fingers.. They tasted ok but the salsa and a pink sauce (?) helped to give them more flavor. The atmosphere was ok and the Friday evening crowd was arriving. We ate inside and our server, Sophia, was very good. It didn't take long to get our dinners except my partner's salad took forever! The salads are included w the meals. My salad was different and good which was a Blackeye pea, corn, & more ingredients. My experience there was disappointing since I wanted ribs and not "soggy" fish tacos. I might go back for the beer only.

This charming little bistro near the south end of Old Town is elegant, welcoming, and truly a hidden gem. Having convenient on-site parking was a nice bonus, and we were warmly welcomed as soon as we arrived. Our server, Christopher, made the evening even more memorable. He was attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He also took the time to recommend several local restaurants and places to visit, which we really appreciated. We started with the mussels, and they were outstanding--fresh, tender, and served in a rich, spicy butter broth with perfectly toasted crusty bread for dipping. My cedar plank salmon was cooked beautifully, full of flavor, and paired with a delicious chorizo risotto. My husband ordered the filet mignon, and after trying a bite, I can understand why he said it was one of the best steaks he's ever had. The mushroom risotto and seasonal vegetables were the perfect complement, and the fresh salad with homemade dressing was a great start to the meal. To top off the evening, the staff surprised me with a three-flavor sherbet dessert complete with a birthday candle and a thoughtful personalized birthday card. It was such a sweet touch that made me feel truly celebrated. We couldn't leave without trying the German chocolate cake, and it was the perfect ending to an unforgettable dinner. Everything from the food to the service exceeded our expectations. We can't wait to come back and try more of the menu the next time we're in town.
