This is one of my favorite seafood places to go to! I love the fact that their daily fish changes. And the daily fish is not just some ordinary fish, you can range from barracuda to hoki. They also or adaptable to what kind of food you want. For example you can order a certain fish on a sandwich, rice bowl, or tacos. I started off with the ceviche which tasted like a seafood salsa. It was absolutely tasted good. For the main course, I got the ultimate fish taco which was huge! For the type of fish, I got the Waldo which was a fatty kind of fish. But it tasted so good as well. It was cooked perfectly, the sauce complemented the flavor well. Finally the staff is amazing as well. They are patient and are willing to give their suggestions. I will definitely come here again!

We love Slapfish! Lots of good fish and seafood options. You can get bowls, sandwiches, burritos, fish and chips, great sides. I love the poke bowl and protein bowl. The chowder is great. Kids menu has some good options for kids. There are always daily options and seasonal items. Great sides also!. Service is quick after you order at the counter.

So good I might finish that juice. I haven't had a better ceviche in Albuquerque. If you want a before picture- Go take one !!!

Slapfish was one of my go to's for the last few years. They recently were bought out by their corporate office and made big changes. You can definitely see their influence from choices of food now available to their marketing. I personally don't find any of the changes good for the consumers. They cut out a few of the foods I like as well. What they have is still good, but not as good! The store is still nice and clean, employees are great and I still aways recommend to tip your servers!!

We have been going to Slap Fish since they opened. We use to love it here. Over the last couple of years, the quality of the food has declined. They serve you a giant bowl of rice and veggies and strips of fish? I would rather pay an 21$ dollars for a bowl, and actually get a 4oz piece of salmon at least. Staff is still nice, but probably won't be coming back anytime soon. Our Family is over 25 plus people and we all feel the same. Hope it goes back to how it use to be!

I have gone to Slapfish for a few years now. The fish was excellent the first couple of times. I don't get to Albuquerque as often as I like and thought I would treat myself to something special. The guy at the counter was really friendly. I ordered fish and chips. Only 1 customer came in the entire time. My fish was way too thin and over fried. I had to use the metal knife to cut through it. One piece was just batter. The coleslaw was just purple cabbage with a little dressing and herbs. The fries were seasoned really well and the best part of the meal. I guess I am just too shy to complain, which is what I should've done. Today, I just made bad choices. Even my lemon slice was dried out.

Chowder fries?!? Friggin' ingenious!! I'm salivating just thinking of them. The fries were an easy choice. The rest was difficult to narrow down, big we finally decided on and the lobster taquitos, clobster grilled cheese (with add on green chiles), and the poke bowl. All excellent! I was really overwhelmed (in a good way) with all the side and condiment options every dish had to choose from. As a self proclaimed condiment queen, I was in heaven. Sauces galore here! ...and then there were the drinks. We couldn't decide between the two hard ciders, so our man offered us samples of both the Sandia pineapple cider and the bosque cider. Still indecisive after the tasting, we got one of each. I absolutely loved the pineapple cider though! Service was so helpful, friendly and patient! A win all around.

So yummy and nice environment! The staff was so helpful to explain about their food and recommended some best seller!!! I love it in there! Highly recommend! Definitely come back!

Love the healthy options available at Slap Fish when you're in a hurry on lunch from work. I usually get the Grilled Fish bowl with brown rice. This location on Holly Dr. is far better that the other one on Louisiana. Although we've seen gradual price increases with pandemic and supply chain shortages, this location doesn't nickel and dime you like the Louisiana location. The option of brown rice is included for the $15 price and you can request extra dressing or herb sauce at no extra charge. Give them a try for a healthy meal on short time!

Dang, it is good. I am from the East Coast and love me sone seafood which is had to find where I live, in Alamogordo. So, when I went to Abq for a multiday conference I felt sure, "This city must have decent seafood somewhere." All the cravings were satisfied by the fresh and amazing poke bowl, the traditional fish and chips, and a buttery lobster roll! Service was the nice.

    Yum!

Had the Epic Shrimp Burrito today! It was a delicious wrapped culinary "present" with layers of delectable flavor!! The size was enormous! And every single layer of crunch, sauce, texture, flavor... was so deliciously satisfying for my taste buds. The shrimp was delicately & intentionally cooked by a well experienced chef who obviously was not rushed, and I'm almost certain he must have been reciting poetry to my shrimp as he prepared it because each plump, tender, juicy, sweet shrimp was so deliciously perfect! These shrimp must have swam in holy water their whole lives! They were just the right texture when I bit into them to prove the chef knew exactly what he was doing! Mmmm I lick my lips still hoping for a trace of flavor! This is how it's done folks!

    Ultimate fish taco

Slapfish is definitely an asset to our community...what they do, they do well. The service is fantastic, and they are ready to help walk you through the menu and give you the run down of all the deets that make their dishes snap crackle pop. I didn't have a lot of time, so I ordered the ultimate fish taco, and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is hip, local beers on tap, and for as long as the line was, they were incredibly fast and efficient and there was no lag time at all. This is surely going to be a go to when I'm craving seafood, and there's a good variety to choose from. Happy for this little oasis in the desert :)

So lobster rolls are my dream food. If I had to pick a last meal, it would be a bomb lobster roll. I'm super picky about them. I've been dying to try Slapfish since they opened and finally got the chance today! I ordered a lobster roll and fries with tarter sauce to go. It was $22 plus tax (market price) for all of it! When I first saw it, I was disappointed at how much lobster was in it. But once I took a bite, I realized there was a lot more lobster inside! A lot of places cheap out by overdoing the mayo and butter to pretend there is more lobster. Not Slapfish! Here they put a TON of fresh, delicious lobster with just enough mayo and butter to flavor it. The bread and pickle on the side were also delicious! The fries had incredible seasoning and crunch and the tartar sauce was amazing! This might be my new favorite place!

Fish and Chips Sandwich with slaw on the top! Yum!!!

    Is this restaurant dog friendly?

They do have a small patio, so I would guess so. I would call just to make sure as I haven't seen anyone with their dogs there.

Is this a full service restaurant or counter service?

You order at the counter and they deliver your food to your table. Condiments, silverware and napkins are stored in a cubby near the drinks area for you to grab as you go to sit down. Sometimes they'll walk around and ask if you need anything and…

    Yes there are free refills

How hard is it to get something that's gluten free?

The hostess was very polite, cheerful and helpful when she sat us at our table. After taking us to our original table I requested to be seated by the window and she quickly accommodated us. Then Kara, our server came and she too was a joy! I've gotta say, the staff is amazing. She answered our questions about the food, explained the dishes made for their 40th anniversary, and checked on us often. Mom and I both ordered the shrimp montage. It was the limited time dish made for their 40 Fest and it was delicious!!! I also ordered the crispy shrimp spring rolls. They came with fresh lettuce leaves. The concept it to wrap them in the lettuce to give them more crunch. YUM!!! They were delicious. The cream cheese gave it that extra umph! They were bigger than I expected so I brought some home. Oh yeah, the garlic bread is divine! My partner ordered the seafood campanelle pasta, but replaced the Campanella pasta with linguini. We both love octopus, so I had to try it. That dish was also tasty. The pesto sauce was so fresh! She also brought the sweet potato pecan pie home. It was good. It tasted like your typical pecan pie with a hint of sweet potato. For drinks I had their local IPA, Mom had a margarita, and my partner had the pineapple refresher which was tasty. It's been year since I've been to Pappadeaux, but this visit reminded me why I love it so much. I'll make sure to come back on my next visit home.

Usually I need to ad a little salt. Not with this one. My only complaint about the meal was the loaf of bread. It was a crusty baguette, but there was nothing to cut it with. When we ripped into it, the crumb turned into a ball of dough and list all of the airiness that makes bread good. Our server was great. She was very patient and took time to explain the special menu they had for a three course meal that helped benefit the local food bank. She was very attentive, but not assertive. It was well decorated and had a pleasant atmosphere. However, being seated next to the bar AND the kitchen, it was quite loud and noisey. The servers were very noisy slamming the tray stands around. But, I am not going to deduct a star for that. If we had sat elsewhere, it would not have been so bad. Would I go again? Absolutely. I recommend that everyone should try it at least once!

We initially decided on this place because they offered oysters on a half shell. I figured they would be small oysters, but no, these oysters reminded me of the size of gulf oysters. The oyster dish came with all of the fixings, horseradish sauce, cocktail sauce, tabasco sauce, lemons, and crackers. I enjoyed every single bite. We ordered a seafood boil dish combo #2 that came with Dungeness Crab Legs, shrimp, clams, sausage, red potatoes, and corn in a crab house cajun sauce with heat level medium spicy. The boil came out just as I finished my last oyster. I failed to take a picture of the beautiful seafood dish before us. Plan to get messy with this place. They put down paper on the table when arriving, and they give gloves and a bib to wear. I took off all of my rings and I got busy cracking and peeling. The cajun garlic butter sauce was so flavorful. I couldn't get enough of it. I swept and dipped my seafood pieces around in it until I could scoop up enough to enjoy with every bite. Our server was attentive to our needs, and the bathroom was clean upon my visit. I didn't mind the walls and poles that were written on. It added its own character.

Our server was good, but it seemed as though the staff was stretched pretty thin - they all buzz around quickly, but we could go long stretches without seeing her. The interior is warm but radiates being dated and in need of a refresh. The noise level was low enough that we could have conversations easily at our table. The calamari appetizer was delicious. Fellow diners loved their fried catfish and steak. I had the oven roasted halibut - I thought the fish had gotten a little dry and found the seasoning unsatisfying. I ordered vegetables as one of my sides - I enjoy them somewhat al dente, but my vegetables were raw and lukewarm at best - I am not sure how that failure occurred. The salad we got (three of us had ordered a salad as our side) was the highlight of the meal for me - a big, fresh tossed greens salad to be shared - the Italian dressing came in a repurposed Grolsh beer bottle - clever! The prices were higher than I would have expected given the size and quality of the meals. Seems like a very popular spot in Albuquerque, but I don't believe we will return.

This charming little bistro near the south end of Old Town is elegant, welcoming, and truly a hidden gem. He was attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He also took the time to recommend several local restaurants and places to visit, which we really appreciated. We started with the mussels, and they were outstanding--fresh, tender, and served in a rich, spicy butter broth with perfectly toasted crusty bread for dipping. My cedar plank salmon was cooked beautifully, full of flavor, and paired with a delicious chorizo risotto. My husband ordered the filet mignon, and after trying a bite, I can understand why he said it was one of the best steaks he's ever had. The mushroom risotto and seasonal vegetables were the perfect complement, and the fresh salad with homemade dressing was a great start to the meal. To top off the evening, the staff surprised me with a three-flavor sherbet dessert complete with a birthday candle and a thoughtful personalized birthday card. It was such a sweet touch that made me feel truly celebrated. We couldn't leave without trying the German chocolate cake, and it was the perfect ending to an unforgettable dinner.
