    Haleakala Sunrise photo

Haleakala Sunrise was excellent via Skyline Hawaii. Our tour guide Marlin was funny and full of a lot of history. Each shuttle picks up guests at their hotel and seats 24 people. It's a once in a lifetime experience to check off the bucket list. It's hard to get park reservations to drive on your own. Highly recommend.

We did the 8 line zipline with Manny and Brian as our guides. They were so much fun and knowledgeable. It was our first time ziplining and they made it a great experience! Highly recommend them. Definitely wear old shoes!

Everything about this tour was perfect! We took the sunrise tour in the Haleakalā National Park and it didn't disappoint. We had to get up early of course. But that comes with the territory. We got picked up at 2am right in front of our Air b&b. The drivers name was Trevor, he was very knowledgeable and polite about everything. He told us about the ride up and how it might make you a bit woozy. Listen to him. The road winds and if you follow the headlights you will explode like the volcano you're going to visit. Close your eyes and enjoy the ride. The coolest thing about this tour is that Trevor tells you everything he knows about the island the culture the history . These are the things that we tourists don't consider. Details man! But really the coolest thing is the star show you get when you stop halfway up and while you're "waiting for the sun" like the song says. (The Doors) I saw shooting stars, satellites moving, and planets. Then the big orange sun comes up through the clouds at 10,000 feet and takes your breath away. While all this is going on the locals who are also guides I guess do chant that brings you someplace else in your head. This is probably the most magnificent thing you will ever see and hear that nature can through at you in a lifetime. Then when you head down the mountain with Trevor he takes you to a couple more spots tells you all about the crater and the plant life , animals, and the trails all around the park. Finally you end up eating a really nice breakfast in a really cool old mill and plantation where they turned all the old pieces of machinery into art or decorative pieces that function as tables and awnings as well as other furniture. The staff here too is great. Then Trevor takes you back to where you got picked up and it's over. Make sure you do this tour if you're in Maui. It's the best. Make sure to tip anyone who servers you too. It's right to help these people out. They work hard to make us smile. Thanks Trevor we had a great time. Mahalo

Be prepared to "camp out" with dozens of other spectators for hours... but wow, the view & experience is worth it.

The Haleakala Sunrise is just as breathtaking & awesome as everyone says!!! The trek, however, can be daunting for an inexperienced tourist... And as one of those out of town visitors, I'm so glad we decided to go with a tour company (and not on our own)! SKYLINE Hawaii made it an incredible, very enjoyable, and memorable experience!!! Glenn was an outstanding driver & tour guide. He was right on schedule with pickups (*arriving at each group's doorstep, assigned times around 2:30 - 3 AM), and made sure everyone felt prepared & comfortable; he offered tasty ginger candies for nausea and complimentary jackets to keep us warm at higher altitudes (*It was 30 degrees with a 25mph wind at the top!). He was also a well-spoken storyteller who engaged us in Hawaiian folklore & island experiences to entertain us on the long drive (about 2 to 3 hours each way). And, most importantly he was an expert with navigating through steep, winding, and intimidating cliffside roads (*in pitch black), safely piloting our big shuttle bus to the summit. Glenn got us to our destination earlier than others, beating the crowds. Once we parked, he pointed out the best spots and gave us free roam. We did, in fact, find the perfect little cubby, with just the right protection from wind and an impressive view!!! As a bonus, the tour package also included a hearty breakfast at adorable Kula Inn on the mountain... And then, a drop off back to our hotels/AirBnB's concluded the fantastic experience. With the luxuries & convenience, the price tag is a bargain, if you ask me.... SKYLINE Hawaii made the Haleakala trip easy, comfy, and very enjoyable. It was one of the highlights of our Maui trip. Highly recommend!!!

Guides are so fun, so knowledgeable and friendly! Learned about the Terran and the eco system, including indigenous birds and plants. One of our guides, Jeff kept calling us "family" which I loved. And Gen was so welcoming and super supportive and helpful. Definitely so much fun. I'll be back.

We took the sunrise tour to Haleakala on July 6 with Keith as our guide. We had a terrific time and Keith did a great job sharing his insights and experiences about Maui and Heleakala. Sunrise was amazing and be sure to be ready to record it along with the native Hawaiian chant. It's cold even in summer, so be sure to reserve your jacket and wear long pants. Breakfast at Kula lodge was quick and efficient and the grounds were beautiful. With a bunch of tour groups coming through, it's understandable staff is a bit in a hurry. Be sure to walk the garden after you eat, it's beautiful. I read some reviews with folks complaining about service at the lodge. Remember folks, the islands were basically closed for a year and many businesses are understaffed due to folks having to move to the mainland etc. Understanding goes a long way toward having a great time. Also to the nasty woman who complained relentlessly that another party "took" your daughter's seat on the bus after a stop, the fact that Keith had to go find you and your family despite everyone else being back to the bus in a timely manner speaks volumes about you, and nobody else.

We did the sunrise tour at Haleakala Summit. There are so many good things about this outfit: our tour guide, the respect shown for the sacred lands, plants, and animal species that live on Haleakala, and history lessons about the area. Mana was our tour guy and he was absolutely fantastic. Very knowledgeable, patient, courteous and safe (especially since going up the mountain is done while it's dark out). Mana talked about history of the islands, Haleakala, fauna and flora, as well as animals that live in the area. He had a great balance of teaching us about Haleakala and Maui and letting everyone rest. Absolutely stellar of a guy and we learned so much from him. I now have even more respect for the Islands and their history. Hearing the tour guides recite the Native Hawaiian chants as the sun rose was a spectacular experience and reminded you that you were somewhere special and sacred. Another nice thing was that the dispatch would be in contact with you the morning of the tour so you were able to text a real human being in case you had issues finding your pickup spot. The summit was cold so bring layers of clothes. You will be provided with a jacket. I recommend bringing gloves. You will get there on time before anyone else so finding a good spot for the sunrise will not be a problem.

My family did the sunrise tour and it was one of the most beautiful tours I have ever done in my life. The view was astounding and would recommend this to every person who comes to Maui. The 2:45 am pick up time sounds rough but as a person who hates mornings, it was worth every second of sleep deprivation. The tour guide Glenn was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining to listen to, he made the 2 hour drive both ways seem way shorter and taught everyone on the bus about Hawaiian culture.

    Zip lining!

I did the sunrise and zip tour the morning after I arrived in Maui. From the moment I scheduled my trip, Skyline was there to make sure I had an amazing time. I had Keith as my driver and he was incredible. I love learning about nature and animals, so Keith was the perfect guide. He made me forget it was 4 in the morning and had me all excited and interested in the history and information he was sharing. Keith has a wealth of knowledge from living and working in Maui for so long and it made the trip that much better. The sunrise at Haleakala was quite possibly one of the most beautiful things I have seen in my life. Go see it! It was nice to have Skyline take me up there so I didn't have to drive unfamiliar windy roads in the dark. Keith has driven the roads hundreds of times, so his confidence was great. After the sunrise, we went down the hill a little for our zip lines! Woooo it was sooo fun! Alec and Kevin were fun, humorous, professional, and silly. It was the perfect follow up to the sunrise. We did 5 lines and a really cool bridge. The last zip line is awesome! It's super long and fast and you go back and forth a few times before stopping. After the zip, we ate a very yummy lunch that Keith picked up for us down the hill. On our way back down, Keith continued to tell us even more about Maui! It was awesome. I would hands down recommend you go on this tour with Skyline. High-quality tours and well-run company. Mahalo, Skyline!!

View from one of the stops at Haleakalā
    Joe P.

We wanted to see Haleakalā, but we didn't want to drive up ourselves and lug winter gear in our luggage. Skyline offered a good deal for $159.95 ($10 off online), where they pick you up at your hotel, take you to Haleakalā (10,000 feet high), make a couple stops down, and have breakfast in Kula, that is at the base of the volcano. BTW, Skyline also offers tours to Hana and zipline tours. Seeing the sunrise is amazing in and of itself. There was some Hawaiian chanting going on, and you could picture what ancient Hawaiians did when they came to Haleakalā. Its amazing that they were able to ascend to the top by walking. As the story goes in Hawaiian mythology, the demigod Maui lassoed the sun to dry the bark to make clothing. Its cold up here (low 40's the day we went), so dress accordingly. I wore jeans, winter socks, a fleece hoodie, gloves, Skyline's light jacket, and I was still cold. Nonetheless, I saw idiots in shorts and slippers w/ a light hoodie: WTF were these peeps thinking?! Our tour guide was Glenn, a transplant from Conn. However, he has been living on Maui for 34 years, so he is prolly more local vs the locals. Glenn shared a lot of the history behind Haleakalā, as well as some local tidbits about Maui and Hawai'i in general. He embodies the spirit of aloha through his kindness and genuine concern that everyone under his watch enjoy the tour to the fullest: 5+++++ Stars. However you decide to see the sun rise at Haleakalā, its a highly recommended thing to do. I'm glad I brought my daughter to Kīlauea and now here to teach her more about Hawaiian culture and history. I hope she passes on the knowledge like I did to her.

We have taken three of their "Morning Walks" with our grandkids and it's a perfect introduction to hiking. Honestly we've had three different ...wonderful.. experiences. It's not strenuous and you're taken back to some private land that you'd not have access to if you just drove up and parked (if you found a parking spot) and hiked back in. We were lucky to have the lovely, fun, and knowledgeable guide named Randolyn ..aka Ran. She was the perfect blend of kind, patient and engaging with the grandkids, and very helpful with us old folks! On the drive on the way home she advised a few newbies to the island where some great places to eat were... they greatly appreciated her ideas! She had the most pleasant demeanor.... :) If you want a fun morning walk, call Hike Maui

Brian was just soo fun, and soo informative. He balanced all our interests absolutely wonderfully, it was just amazing. The kid was thrilled with the his dino costume (Oh my god! the costume, he wore it on the Entire trip except when jumping off the rocks ofcourse), the adult in the other group with all the geological tectonics knowledge that flowed like an uninterrupted volcano from his mouth...non stop, and me with all the native plant life info. The Hala tree amazed me and so did the big red flower- torch ginger, which actually looks like a vibrant staff fit for a king. I would never have learnt about them in detail if not for this trip. All this besides the actual trip to the waterfalls, the encouragement he gave to the other group was astounding (I don't swim myself unfortunately, or the fun would have tripled for me). He supported, guided, advised, and made them have the time of their life with the diving and the swimming. Three cheers to the B.Rex. Hike Maui site itself had useful info for the walk and I brought the water shoes after reading about it on their site, it really worked great out there. Pick up was right on time and the directions were pretty clear, but u could have mentioned near Kahului Park and Ride, I mistook the 8 min drive for 8 min walk, and walked up from my hotel ! Hike Maui arranged for backpacks and that was very useful too. To just it throw it on our shoulders and walk freely. The little snacks were good after the walk. The best part was the passion fruit which was handed out as a parting gift. It was my first time to eat that fruit too. Note: The waterfalls are accessible privately with rental car too. You could explore the area in your own sweet time. But I did notice there were not many signs with specific directions inside the forest. And no labels on the plants. Most places no mobile signals either. That said, you could do it on your own. I cannot say enough about this trip. It is for all ages and a great little Maui to explore comfortably. PS: Hope Brian wins the Halloween costume contest today ( 31st Oct 2025)

In response to the owners lies - (Original reviews in…read morephotos. Yelp said I reached my character limit capacity. Added more photos for our proof). There was no one else on the tour except one couple, whom we had no issues with. The 7 people on the bus was my family of 5 and one couple. 1. There was a hiccup in your booking system, you allowed us to book a tour because you did not close your online reservation window. If you were sold out why did the website allow us to make a reservation? Hence the "hiccup". After we booked the tour, we did move a flight around so this person could make the tour that we had a confirmation email for. Very unprofessional to email the next morning saying you were sold out AFTER we made the booking. Yes we did book late but if you were sold out you shouldn't have allowed us to make the booking plain and simple. We called multiple times because we were asking about pick up arrangements and were told to keep calling back to see when/if the tour filled up, because only then would they be able to tell us what pick up rotation we would be in. I wanted to know what hotel would be the first pick up, etc. I didn't care that our two parties were not on the same bus, which was why I didn't mention it in the booking. 2. Since you claim to have the proof that he wasnt speeding, why dont you show it? It absolutely does corroborate with the Google maps picture. I did move the camera to get a video of how bumpy the bus was DUE TO HOW FAST THE DRIVER WAS SPEEDING! But I'll include another video straight ahead where you can see how fast he flies past the mountain. As for your lies, you need to come up with better ones. I asked for a Spanish translator due to the fact only ONE person in our party spoke Spanish. The fact that you guys said we were speaking Spanish all day is hilarious because NO ONE IN OUR PARTY SPEAKS SPANISH except my mother in law, who didn't speak the whole trip. Let's add more proof that you guys are racist - when the driver picked us up II asked about the Spanish ear piece translator before my mother in law was there. The driver said no, he said I speak a little Spanish so I will do my best to speak to help you guys out. 5 minutes later he came up to my husband and started speaking Spanish. My husband told the driver he speaks ENGLISH. Louie said oh you were quiet miguel so i figured you were the spanish speaker. we were asking about translation for my mother in law. I'll also add he made multiple claims about how Latinas were "so violent" and people had to watch out for us. let's add to the review that not only are you guys liars, you are racist liars. Your tour driver is a liar, we were all sleeping on the drive back due to how sick/tired we were. Your tour driver is clearly lying to cover his mistakes. 3. We didn't ask the tour driver for ONE illegal thing AT ALL. Due to the fact he was an arrested convict (which you can find proof of by googling it) he made illegal stops on his own! He even mentioned how the rangers loved him and when HE chose to make the illegal stop in front of the waterfalls, the ranger allowed it bc they told him make it quick. We appreciate the opportunity but never asked him for one illegal stop. 4. I never said we missed anything, I said I couldn't help but wonder if we missed something. Since you want to be so detailed, we actually DID miss Ohe'o Gulch / Seven Sacred Pools (D) Charles Lindbergh's Grave / Palapala Hoomau Church Kipahulu scenic ocean views, St. Joseph Church Kaupo Ranchlands / Haleakala backside views / Maui's Last Lava Flows (D) Maui's Upcountry / Kula (S) 6. The entire tour WAS my family. Let me also add one thing I forgot to the review someone in your company gave our tour guide my number and he texted me twice asking me for his tip which was EXTREMELY unprofessional. This is an extreme safety violation. He unprofessionally texted me "This ***** Just making sure I did venmo right.. If sent tip, I have not recieved..." at 7:27pm. And "If you could let me know.." at 7:56pm. For my safety, I should NEVER have received text asking about a TIP! Even if he was wondering about the tip because he wasn't used to electronics, you still should never text someones personal cell phone number. Since he did mention multiple times that he was a liability I was scared he was going to show up to our hotel since he knew my number, hotel location, etc. Where is the response to the bulk of my review??? Do you have an explanation for how we know all this information about him being fired from his last tour job? How the current owner was only allowing him to drive as a fill in driver as a favor? Why was he a liability? Bc he speeds and risks the lives of passengers? In one of my videos I do have him talking about the story of how his dad gave him money and guns to illegally transport. As I have over 500 videos from this tour, you guys are lucky I don't want to go through and find the hard proof I have. Where is your hard proof?

One thing I really appreciated was that he kept saying, "this is your tour." He made sure we stopped at places that mattered to us. I really wanted to go to Aunt Sandy's for banana bread, and Genaro made it happen. That level of flexibility and care made the day feel personal. Between the incredible views, the education along the way, the safe and comfortable drive, and Genaro's personality, this was one of the highlights of my time in Maui. I would highly recommend doing the Road to Hana with Temptation Tours, and if you can, ask for Genaro Padilla. It was a very special experience.

The answer was Yes, one can change into swimsuits during lunch before the black sand beach visit and then change out of them at a stop after the waterfall stop to be dry for the ride back to the hotels. A few days before our tour I received an email confirmation that included other useful information, such as bring along swimwear, towels, water shoes and a light jacket for the air conditioned van. I had not considered the A/C and I'm always cold, so that is a very welcome heads-up. On the day of our tour we received texts that the driver was on his way. Pretty close to the scheduled meeting time the van pulled up to our resort. The van was spacious with huge windows. Our tour was full with all 12 passenger seats occupied. Our driver/guide was Travis. He was born and raised in Hana and was a wealth of knowledge about Hana, Maui, and Hawaii. He seemed to be related to all the locals he passed on the road. There was not dull moment. Among the stops along the way were Maui Tropical Plantation for breakfast, Auntie Sandy's Banana Bread stand for those that wished to purchase, Wai'anapanapa State Park (black sand beach, also with a lava tube and a blow hole), Pua'a Ka'a State Wayside Park (usually calm enough to swim but the falls were roaring due to rain earlier in the day), and Ho'okipa Beach with turtles on the beach. Travis was an excellent driver and guide. We got great value from the cost of the excursion. One minor thing did bother us. We are Jewish and were uncomfortable during the praising Jesus sing-along. Regardless, we recommend this tour and especially Travis as a guide.

I would highly recommend this tour company and the sunrise tour. Breakfast food at the end was good too! There were three options but I only got a picture of 2. The captain and crew were not only extremely knowledgeable about the boat, the island, and the sea life, but they also made the entire trip feel personal and welcoming. Their attention to detail and genuine care really captured the spirit of aloha. It was an unforgettable part of our Maui adventure, and we're so grateful we got to experience it. Highly recommend to anyone looking for something truly memorable on the island. Mahalo again for such an amazing day!

The breakfast and lunch were first class, the equipment was a high end brand and in good shape. The unlimited drinks were the real thing. Not watered down like I've had on other excursions. But it wasn't a party boat. Family friendly and the snorkeling was great! I'm super glad we chose Ali Nui for our snorkeling adventure.

I found Coconut Information and thought it was a great fit because our group loves coconuts! Ryan was so passionate and knowledgeable not only about coconuts but also conservation and sustainability - we were all amazed at the work he put in for his farm. It was so lush with all types of fruit trees and produce - we even saw baby ducks that had hatched just the day before. The experience was a farm tour, educational workshop, coconut tasting, and cooking class all rolled into one. We really enjoyed learning about the multi-faceted coconut and about Ryan's journey with the farm. The coconut noodles he made us were SO GOOD. Seriously blew our minds and can't wait to make it at home and share with others. Truly a fun, inspiring, and educational experience. We couldn't stop raving about it after we left. Ryan even sent us home with a "4-pack" of coconuts so we could have some fresh coconut water for the rest of our trip. Highly recommend - please go check it out!
