If you have little ones this would be a really cool place to take them. They offer some awesome tours along with some tasty treats to try that are made out of goat milk... like cheese and chocolates. If you want to just come by and check out the gift shop and grab a bucket of hay to feed them you can do that too. They have beautifully kept grounds. Clean! Staff was very welcoming!
If you're out in the area, i definitely recommend stopping by the Surfing Goat Dairy. I came at about 10 am on a Saturday a with no reservation. I was able to buy a bucket of hay for about $10 and feed a selection of goats that were sweet and ready to be fed! I stopped inside the gift shop and there was a lot of cute items to buy as souvenirs as well as a goat cheese flight and an assortment of truffles. My boyfriend and I did a cheese flight together about $27. One cheese flight for 2-3 people is definitely enough, I would not recommend getting one per person unless you are REALLY hungry. 4 people could probably eat one flight if you're just looking for a small sampling. I did not do a tour but the farm is relatively small so I feel like I still enjoyed myself without a tour. I'd definitely tell friends and family to visit here!
This tour advertises that there is a kamaaina discount but there was no option to add the information for it. I read somewhere that you have to show them your ID at check-in and they will credit you the discount. Well when we showed up they said they can't credit once a transaction is completed. Advised next time, don't actually book it online. Just called to hold the space and pay when you show up with your kamaaina ID. Won't be a next time for us. The actual tour was informative. This time of the year, no baby/kid goats, no milking of the goats. Just petting the goats behind the fence and feeding some alfalfa and leaves. You end with a free truffle of your choice. I ordered the mixed cheese tasting plate online. It was a good variety and nice amount of crackers. Our group liked the sundried tomato and the one the best.
The truffles are SO DELICIOUS- definitely recommend buying those!! Also the goats milk soaps smell HEAVENLY. The goats are super adorable and feeding them was a real treat. We loved the variety of flavors in our goat cheese flight and we absolutely loved the experience of coming to this beautiful dairy farm! Lovely place for a laid back afternoon!

We got to tour the grounds, learn about the goats, the cheese and truffle making process, pet and feed them and enjoyed a delicious cheese plate at the end on their pretty grounds. The tour leader Tracy was extremely knowledgeable, fun and great with kids. My only regret is that we didn't do the Golden Girl's tour (ages 18+) because you get to spend more free range time with the goats and I would have loved to meet the older gals, but that's our mistake. Bookmarking it for our next trip! Also they talked about the major upgrade of the grounds they did in 2023. I'd probably concentrate on the more recent reviews as it sounds like the experience now is much nicer. They have a lovely store for additional cheese and truffle purchases, merch, quiche, cheesecake and more.
Really not sure this place could be any cuter. Booked a last minute baby goat experience tour and they were flexible enough to let us add another person as our numbers changed. We arrived a bit early, easy parking, felt comfortable and secluded enough to leave my purse just in the car. Cute shop with chocolates and branded merchandise. Pens with the baby goats with their birthdays labeled from youngest (2-3 days old) to oldest babies (5-6 weeks old). The older ones were the babies we were able to have the experience with - they were brought into a special area with seats for the humans and climbing things for the goats. They were so curious about our shoelaces, our hair, everything - so friendly. It was a fun way to spend 30 mins on our way to the airport. The most fascinating part was listening to (one of) the owner(s) talk about how he takes care of these goats - how well organized and responsible they are with the hundreds of goats they're raising. He had a fascinating backstory of how he wound up in Maui at the Surfing Goat Dairy and their plans for the future. Fun little side trip - got some soap to take home and wish we had time for the cheese boards. We'll do it next time!

The cheese platter was delicious, the truffles were incredible, and the cheesecake was out of this world. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. Side note: the restroom could definitely use some attention--the toilet bowl was honestly the most disgusting I've ever seen and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. But aside from that, the experience itself was fantastic and absolutely worth it!

The shop has treats like chocolate truffles, quiches, and a lilikoi cheesecake make with cheese from the farm. There's a lovely seating area to enjoy your treats and just watch the goats. The tour is informative about goat breeding, rearing, milking, the dairy industry, and cheesemaking.
After checking out of our hotel, we had some time to kill before our red-eye flight out of Maui, so we stopped by Surfing Goat Dairy Farm. We had visited once before back in 2012 and remembered it being a great experience, and it's nice to see how much the farm has upgraded since then. They offer goat and cheese tours that you can sign up for online. This time, we just wandered around the grounds and relaxed while watching the goats and baby kids play in their pen. We also bought a $10 bucket of hay to feed the goats off to the side. We were told they were under a year old, though they were already pretty much adult-sized! They were extremely enthusiastic about the hay, and the bucket was gone in no time. It was such a fun and wholesome experience, for both me and the goats. Definitely a cute stop, and I hope to come back next time and sign up for one of the tours next time in Maui. read more
We decided to go last minute after ending up with more time than we thought while exploring the area. We didn't reserve a tour ahead of time, and the next one was not for over an hour, so we decided to just walk around the grounds on our own. We started with the cheese tasting. They offer 2 different options, and we chose the mixed. Between 2 of us, it was plenty. I would say even 3 people could share. We enjoyed most of the cheeses - a few were definitely unique. They have a patio area to sit at, and they just call your name when your tasting is ready. They give you information with the cheeses, so you know what you are trying. The shop had a nice assortment of other gifts, as well as the truffles. The truffles were definitely my favorite. You can just get one if you want, or you can pick out several to make a box to take home. We walked around and saw the area where the babies/young goats played on the surfboards, which is super cute. The adults are all over in different areas, and you will even see them on the roofs of different buildings. The tour would have been nice to learn some history and information, but it is still really nice to go without the tour. It was a fun and peaceful little experience. read more

Cute and fun thing to do after the sunrise hike at Haleakala! The goats are adorable! We opted to just buy some food for the goats and then a delicious goat cheese flight! It was perfect for 3-4 people! The tour was separate from the tasting so we opted for the tasting but all looked fun! We didn't have kids with us but it would also be great for kids! Oh and I recommend getting a chocolate to go! It was a great treat on the drive back! :) read more

I'd give this place 20 stars if I could. We booked the baby goat experience and it was AWESOME!!! The baby goats were so cute and playful. They liked being held and touched. We also got the goat cheese flight and the cheese was delicious! I'd definitely visit again! read more

Get educational experience!! We met a baby goat born earlier in the day, had an opportunity to pet and feed older goats. Learned about breeding, milking and the cheese making process. Finished with a yummy cheese flight, and truffles (try the birthday cake flavor!) read more

Came here on a Saturday morning, just in time for the Grand Dairy Tour, which we decided to skip. Didn't have the time to spend 2.5 hours on a tour of goats. And not willing to spend $24 per person. Content to watch the staff and others feed the goats, with white baby goats in a holding pen. They do have a flush toilet in the back. New gift shop. New tourist trap. Sister got a $10 goat cheese muffin and a T-shirt, extra small for $38+. My wife got three bars of goat milk soap for $30. I didn't know I smelled that bad. read more
We enjoyed Surfing Goat Dairy, it truly is a special place. Unfortunately we didn't have time for a tour, and you can visit the farm for free, but if you have the time, do a tour, or at least do a tasting. After leaving Maui Wine, we stopped into Surfing Goat Dairy for a tasting. The staff was great, they explained all the options for tasting, and the tours. We ordered our tasting, walked around the farm watching the baby goats until our tasting board was ready. We found a spot at a picnic table near the baby goats and watched them bounce all over the surf boards in their pens. We then got to watch the tour for the baby goats and the kids playing and petting them, such joy on their faces. We had seven different goat cheeses on our platter along with a mixture of crackers. Their cheeses are the freshest and creamiest goat cheeses we have ever tasted. The flavors were mild and not overpowering. We savored each one for what it was, scrumptious. They also offer goat milk truffles which we did not try, but they looked equally as delicious. The farm is immaculate and beautiful. Definitely take the kids, they will have a ball. If you are just adults, you can't help but love visiting either. Watching the baby goats and tasting the best goat cheese ever will bring fun and laughter to your day. read more
We stopped in for a visit after visiting Ocean Vodka (next door). We tried some delicious banana bread and a box full of goat milk truffles (yummy!) There was a beautiful seating area outside to sit and enjoy the delicacies. Sweet baby goats were present to enjoy all the sweet things that baby goats do. Although we didn't have time to stay, they offer tours of the dairy as well. Staff was friendly and inviting. Overall great experience. read more
A great stop if you are touring the area. (BTW...Not far from Ocean Vodka Distillery.) Super cute... Family Friendly! Their goat cheese is offered in dishes at several restaurants on Maui, so it's nice to be able to visit the place where the cheese comes from and meet the goats. (ha!) I (of course) had to try the chocolate truffles. YUM! It's a good thing I only got 2... they are sooo very good. Their farm and its folks are very open and inviting. They even have guided tours. (We didn't do this as we were just killing time and wandering around at our whim.) Highly recommend making a trip up here while you are touring the island. read more
I love the Surfing Goat Dairy and try to stop here whenever I'm visiting Maui. We ordered a fresh cheese flight to go. The girl who helped me told me to take a picture of the list of different cheeses. They gave us a great variety of crackers and pretzels along with six samples of goat cheese. All of the cheeses were really good. It's a fun place to take kids, and they sell so many items in their store. read more

MUST DO when in Maui - quite unique and a ton of fun. After reading the reviews, I didn't know there were tiered tours :') Our aunty just booked the basic baby goat interaction, but trust me when I say this: get as much out of the tours as you can! Sign up for the longer tours and the chores, because you'll want to do so much more than interacting with baby goats for 30 minutes. If you didn't want to do a longer tour but wanted more experience at the farms they have a lot of open space available for you to walk around, just don't forget to obey the posted signage. You can also pay to feed the goats, just ask the ladies at the register in the gift shop! Definitely an experience that everyone from all ages can enjoy and if I wasn't pregnant and full from breakfast we would have eaten more of the menu as well! My advice: come here with an empty stomach and clothing you don't mind getting chewed on. Those goats will chew on anything and will get to anything - even hair! So bring a hair tie, it won't stop them but it'll be easier to manage! read more

The cheese flight was nice to try. Staff at the entire property acts like they are doing you a favor to assist you. The tour: a woman with a voice similar to nails on a chalk board yells into a mic for 30 mins and walks around a few places on the property. The price of this "tour" is ridiculous. Cute goats, but I am not certain that this tourist-gouger is worth the drive or time. There are far better places to visit on the island. read more
Found this place through YELP after reading reviews decided to take my kids here. This spot is located in Kula upcountry. Cute little place to get flights of fresh goat cheeses to pair with varieties of crackers. All were so good that my son devoured most of it and didn't save me any. Kids eyeballed the chocolate truffles as well so had to buy a couple of them. A bit pricey for one piece, but made fresh from goats' milk. It was fun to see the goats on the surfboards literally look like they were surfing. Super exciting to also feed the goats. They were a bit aggressive because all of them wanted to be fed. Awesome fun experience for the kids. Food for the goats was at an additional cost. The cashier was nice every time she rang us up. She gave some ALOHA vibes. This is a must stop on your list when visiting the island of Maui! read more

This was such a fun tour where we learned so much about the goats and how they make goat cheese products. We tasted 2 freshly made goat cheeses, which were delicious and far, far better than the goat cheese you buy in the store! We also were given a token to get a free chocolate goat milk truffle, which was so wonderful that we bought a box of them. Beautiful farm and a great way to spend some time in Maui!!! read more

We did this on a whim and had such a blast! We did the Golden Girls tour and had a blast. We got to feed goats and brush them, while learning all about each of the goats and the entire farm. The goats are like dogs - each had unique personalities and stories. I just loved all of it and was sad when it was over. We had a cheese flight afterwards and everything we ate was SO good. Be sure to try a truffle!! This place is really awesome - I would highly recommend it. We had been to Maui before and were looking for things that weren't on the traditional to-do list. This was one of the best things we did on our trip! read more

Quick stop on our way back to town. Can also do tours, but fun to see all the baby goats! The gift shop area has chocolates and souvenirs to take home. Cheese flights also available. Wouldn't make a day of it, but if you're passing by, definitely stop! read more

We visited 15 years ago and then again this week. Their commitment to animal welfare, sustainability, and product quality is quite admirable. Feeding the goats was a highlight for me, but the samples were also noteworthy. It is always worth a drive to the Kula area to see the beauty. It's even better with a stop at Surfing Goat. read more

Had the best time at Surfing Goat Dairy--hands down the most charming farm experience ever! We got to meet adorable baby goats (including a 1-day-old!), feed their sweet mamas, and even meet the farm's dashing patriarch, Hemingway the buck. Beyond the cuteness overload, we also got a behind-the-scenes look at cheese and truffle-making--and, of course, savored every delicious bite! If you're in Maui, this is a must-do for an unforgettable island experience! read more
My first and foremost advisory is that this location is expensive. Tours run $38 per adult and $30 per child. My family and I arrived too late for the tour, as we were just driving around, so we opted for only the cheese tasting. For $24 you get to sample 6 different types of cheeses-all of which are delicious. Every cheese was unique and flavorful. However, the crackers that accompanied the platter were low quality at best, which definitely compromised the overall experience. As this place is on an actual farm, my family and I also got to pet some goats for free. This was definitely a nice addition to our experience. I do think this farm is worth the visit, but I don't know that it is worth a revisit. read more

We visited Surfing Goat Dairy and went on their Golden Girls tour. Wow, we had so much fun. Shannon, our tour guide, was an excellent teacher and had a lovely authentic vibe that added to the great times. She knew everything about goats. This was one of the highlights of our trip. Don't miss a trip to the dairy as they also have most excellent goat cheese. With our tour we even received a free piece of goat cheese chocolate, yummy! The service here is beyond hospitable. I felt like we made a new goat family! We will be back soon to visit our goats. read more

This was such an enjoyable, unique experience! The goats were so sweet, milking them was really fun, the goat cheese sampling tray we bought was delicious, but most of all, the tour guide, Tracey, was phenomenal. It was a hot day and she made the whole thing so much fun. She was really funny, down to earth, and shared a lot of interesting facts. We met a family that was there for the second time and I can understand why they went back! Highly recommend. We ate dinner at a restaurant in Maui the next night, and I was so excited to discover that my salad had goat cheese from the Surfing Goat farm! read more

No you cannot buy them there, you must have them shipped from Maui
Do the truffles need to be refrigerated? How long are they good for?
No idea :/ I do, however, remember that you can put the frozen goat cheese in your checked bag and it will stay frozen while you are flying. The goat cheese it soooooo good!
