Not much walking-- the most is from the entrance/cafe area to the field with an outlook, where you learn about how the Dole family rekt Lanai's natural environment to farm pineapples (kinda evil). Frankly, the history behind mass agriculture and farming is pretty bleak-- you can't help but feel a sense of injustice for the native Hawaiians. Our tour guide was thorough, objective, while empathetic. From thereafter, you're sitting under an overhang while listening to your tour guide explain the stages of coconut growth & trying the different pieces. We tried: - Coconut water - Coconut jelly - Coconut meat - Coconut shavings ... All from coconuts of varying ages, getting the chance to see how each tastes different from the other. Kai even popped by with a surprise: fresh palm hearts! My bf and I frequently use canned ones for salads-- the raw flavor blew our minds. The entire "tour" took around 1.5 hours. The cafe in front is charming, lovely drink & food offerings alongside a gift shop. You can tell that the staff here actually care about the history of Hawaii and respect the island.

Jeremy was the highlight of the tour teaching us so much about the benefits of coconuts. We tried young coconut water to more mature coconut water. We got to taste coconut meat and shavings of coconuts (it was a great moisturizer for the skin too) I'd highly recommend this tour and the cafe! Cute little place. It was…read morereally awesome to learn how their mango farm works -- as someone interested in gardening, and especially curious about exploring the "food forest" permaculture side of growing food, it was really educational. She taught us the different plant groups that feed each other, and what order to plant to get the most productivity (and safety! We learned that papaya makes a good windbreak for smaller and more delicate plants, and agave makes a good firebreak!). I wish I lived in Maui because I'd be planting mangoes, papayas, bananas, coffee, and cocoa, RIGHT away. It was wild finding out how fast and tall papaya trees grow! These plants don't grow well in Seattle, but we are still going to take what we learned and see how we can apply similar features for our own food forest. I appreciated the very real perspectives about what works - as well as pitfalls and challenges with their food forest / mango farm. The tour was really interesting and fun, and we even had a resident cat named Tyson who took the tour with us! SO CUTE! The view there was beautiful, and though our tour group was tiny, I could see this being a fun activity for kids and families, too. Enough safe space for little folx to run around safely, and so much is stackable. She let us try mango (and wild mangos), ice cream beans (what an experience!), fresh coffee, and more. So good! They said they are going to do dinner parties here and I look forward to coming back to the Maui mango farm when we visit next time. Hopefully we'll have some good photos to show off of the garden upgrades that they've inspired. We really wanted to do something to support the Lahaina community (without being a disaster tourist, either), so visiting a regenerative farm seemed like an awesome choice, and I'm very glad we went. We were greeted by a very nice couple and served a very refreshing glass of lemongrass and cardamom leaf tea to start to hear about regenerative farming. It was invigorating and soothing at the same time. It was especially helpful for me to get over the mild cold during this trip. The walk was very easy and informative and we wore tennis shoes but it could have been easily done with flip flops or sandals. At the end, we were served delicious box of star fruit, papaya, and different mango samples . Also, we were given some recommendations on good local eats, cafes, and bakeries and some or then we spent time ourselves to find!! They are planning on serving dinner as well in the future mango farm tours so be on the lookout!!!

She was so excited as she had never seen an alpaca in real life before, and suddenly she was hands on feeding babies and moms!! She was soooo excited! So, many thanks to Padma who made our experience so special, and Sassy Girl, Lola and the other alpaca friends we made, and Snow White the bunny and her fluffy pals too. Padma showed us how to refine the fleece and spin it and we had a go at carding too, and she answered all my questions with ease. It was fascinating to find out more about alpaca....did you know they only give birth during the day, usually in the morning ? Easy to book online, especially with Kamaaina rates being honored, easy to find even though you are venturing into someone's driveway, park and walk a few steps to the alpaca so good for children and elderly/disabled, a small gift shop selling beautiful gifts is right there, compact, cute and incredibly fun. Perfect birthday present for a 10 yr old girl ;)

Overall the tour was educational, but not really structured…read more We arrived and were met by the guide who was full of energy...and for the sake of me, I can't remember his name..I think Ryan...but you'll know him when you see him. As an incentive planner, I try to find cool, unique and elevated experiences for my clients. I bought these tickets myself without any VIP or comps for me and my family to get the real experience. Here's the "not so good" - it just wasn't structured. We kind of hopped around without a solid plan, but by no means did we not get questions answered or not see what we wanted to. It's a very large farm, so we didn't see the entirety of it, but this is where a golf cart, or some sort of tram would be appropriate for small or medium groups, especially since we wanted to see parts of the farm that looked less traversed and more remote. Also...price. This was not worth the price we paid. A price point of $20-$35 would be more appropriate for the tour, whether 5 or 20 guests. I don't think we'd return anytime soon for this price point, but the guide was a great guy and really makes the tour more interesting. They just need more guidance and consulting on how to make a more professional tour structure, visuals, etc. as you would see on most any other tour around the world. The little trailer they have for meals is nice, but we did not eat on site on this visit. This is great for 5-10 guests...anymore would be a little challenging without a tram as it's 100% walking. The kids had a great time and were so thrilled to taste nuts and fresh coconut water right from the shell too! We walked about 2 miles in total but it was a nice leisurely stroll at our pace. He was in no rush, but kept to a good tempo. I think he wants to really expand this tour and grow more in to the region. I would say his love of the land can somewhat encompass the overall tour, but it was very good...I do hope he does incorporate more on how these nuts are formed, some visuals, maybe a small video of some sort as an intro for those who have never had or seen the nuts before. I would encourage him to provide stats as in to how many are grown, shipped, exported, uses and more as part of the tour. This is a great way to spend 1-2 hours learning about macadamia nuts, coconuts, and his love of farming and the land we live on. He's a Hawaiian hippie, but proud to be who he is and we loved that! It made the experience that much better and working with guys like him all my decades, I get and understand him. He did not rush us and he was receptive...but this just needs more structure and a lower price point.

They were in the middle of a tour when I arrived, but one of the owners quickly came over to meet me and brought me into the little store. Candice was very friendly, welcoming very and knowledgeable about all things vanilla. I was hoping to pick up some vanilla extract, but unfortunately they were sold out. Candice recommended the vanilla powder instead which is pure vanilla and you only need to use about half the amount. I'm very excited to try it! Such a cute little place and definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. I'll have to come back and check out the tour next time! Thanks for the hospitality!

Jan and Lawrence allowed us to drive around their farm on their ATV and picked fruits off the trees. They also have many adorable animals on the farm for your little kids to see. It was also my first time tasting fresh cacao. I got to sample the fruits before committing to buying anything. Nowadays that's rare in Maui.
