The first thing was the coffee itself, it was not amazing and as someone who often orders the same thing everywhere to judge the coffee itself - I wished for something better; it tasted like tobacco. Because I didn't enjoy the first drink I got, I went back to give it a second chance and wanted to order something else and I was appalled to find out that the person taking my order did not know what a pour over was. I then asked for an cortado and got what they thought a cortado was but was wrong and the coffee still tasted like tobacco. I hoped for something better but the latte drinkers with me said they'd drink it again. On a lighter note, the inside was large and spacious and the workers were kind!

Think of landlines, juke boxes, I love Lucy tv, grandma style kitchen tables with the aluminum base (like old style diners), drive-ins and car-hops and you'll have a general sense of the eclectic style. The employees, likely from the nearby college, are friendly and patient and work quickly to get the orders out. The coffee and non-coffee beverages have been a mix for me: sometimes incredible, other times not so much, but I still like coming here for the atmosphere alone, as weird as they may be for a coffee fiend like me. The food, the couple times I've indulged, is good and there's a nice mix of offerings. This was a gas station previously and the new owners have made use of that with the glass garage doors that open to a nice outdoor seating area and using the front and side for more outdoor seating. They even managed to squeeze in a drive-thru for those eschewing the busier traffic at other coffee shops in the area. Poly's Place, locally owned, is a unique coffee shop in a mostly residential area. It's worth the experience.
