Outstanding microfoam in my wet cappuccino. Delicious hot drink made my morning. The barista knows how to roll the foam!

It's a beggars/choosers scenario in these parts. If you must have coffee and can't stand McD's‍

Thirsty Saddle Espresso is such a new coffee kiosk that it gets lost amongst the nearby buildings…read moreuntil potential customers are speeding by or miss the turn. On the south side of Laurel, outside of town on the busy highway headed to Red Lodge, this kiosk's owner picked a great spot to capture traffic from the nearby refinery and those headed to the Beartooth mountains or Yellowstone or Wyoming. As it has opened just as the summer season kicks off, it'll likely see a lot of traffic. If they don't, it'd be a loss to those who drove by. Plus, those who don't stop miss the chance to support a small local business. The coffee is good -- at least it is if you prefer a stronger brew as your base. Of course they have non-coffee drinks if sugar instead of caffeine is your choice of bad habit. The one hiccup that will be quickly remedied: because it is located so close to the highway that at times can be noisy and busy and there is no bell or alarm to notify the employee that someone is waiting for service, you may need to wait a bit for them to notice you. The day I visited, the owner's relative was working, acknowledged the issue before I had a chance to mention it, and then proceeded to make a near-perfect latte. I'm now a fan. Next time you find yourself out of town headed south, look for this small building on the left (east) side of the road.

Well I think I've been spoiled by this newly opened coffee kiosk…read more With many of the same standard choices as other places, Koo Beans sets itself apart by offering the normal flavorings, but also sugar free keto-friendly flavors - some with MCT Oil -- and bubble teas also made with natural ingredients. I tried two things; well, three, if you count the edible goodies from local places like Red Rooster (a place that never disappoints) and Koo Beans hit all the marks. I started with the Keto Vanilla Latte and could not have been more surprised. No chemical taste, just flavor. I was sorry I finished it. The vanilla flavor lasted to the not-at-all-bitter end. For later, I also ordered a blueberry bubble tea and when that first bubble burst on my tongue, I knew Koo Beans would become a regular stop. In chatting with the Owners (Alaina and Matthew, I think she said), she mentioned her goal is to provide flavors that are natural, without added sugars at reasonable prices. Mission accomplished, I think. After nearly two years of research to find what they were looking for and then to make this dream happen, she's living her dream right now. Kudos! . Koo Beans needs to stay around - they offer something different than the traditional coffee spots and it works well for them.

Burnin the Bone to the rescue. In all fairness, though, they were doing this before the virus disrupted things. While I've never had a bad anything, the brisket sandwich is still my favorite. The roll is okay, but brisket is what makes it--- that I can order some brisket alone for a future get together or meal is even better. They do offer catering, after all. The breakfast items aren't a standout for me when compared with the lunch things. They're good, not stellar. Although I will say one day they had a "fire hog" burrito with egg and brisket...not sure if it was a lunch or breakfast item, but holy hell ... it had the fires of hell in every bite, between the jalapeño and Serrano pepper and the ghost chili sauce. That hell tasted damn good. Mostly serving from their spot in the Heights, Burnin the Bone occasionally sneaks out of that area and sets up elsewhere. It's a father and son team running the truck -- a family thing. His wife runs "burnin the bean coffee"'stand next door to where this truck is parked in the Heights location. Find this truck, try their food, support a small local business, and enjoy the food.
