The Soulman Sam performing on a Sunday night.

This gem is a true little hole in the wall but it always serves up great music. It's not your local tourist spot, it's more of a local spot where you are amongst folks who are grown and looking to have a good time. I've been coming to the Skylark for many years whenever I'm in town and I've had the pleasure to hear some of Austin's greatest musicians. From Soulman Sam & the SMS band to Mary Mac & the Macdaddies . . . You are in for a great show. Recently they have added food service - nothing extravagant but you can get some fries, chicken tenders and such. Get there early to grab a seat, call them to reserve a table but either way get there and enjoy some live music.

This place has announced that it will close its doors. It's gonna be very tough for the musicians to make a living now with this place closing I've always had a great time with spectacular blues music here.

Skylark is an intimate dive bar with live music. We visited on a Saturday night, and it was a $10 cover. We saw two separate acts, and were able to snag a booth since we got there pretty early. Drinks were good. We ordered onion rings and they were average. I would visit again for more live music!

We came here last night for some live music. It did not disappoint the bar itself is nothing fancy but, it's low lighting gives a grown sexy feel. We had a wonderful time. The band was fantastic. We will definitely come again, so far in Austin this is my favorite spot. It made us feel at home with the people, the music and the ambiance.

If I could give more stars I would. The warm feeling vibes you get when you walk in, the dim lighting is so relaxing and everyone was so friendly. Even the performers introduced themselves to us. The music was wonderful. This place will definitely get you into the dancing mood it was just what I've been looking for. Their is parking out front and the bathroom was clean. I didn't get to go check out the patio but when the party is inside who has time right! The drinks were continously strong and I can now understand why they have such a great rating. Keep it up we will definitely be back!

Man this place is such a gem!! The ambience, music, service .. all of it was awesome - perfect actually!! The location seemed kind of shady but once I got inside I didn't have a care in the world. It's super dive-y and there is barely enough seating to hold everyone so you will most likely end up standing if you get there on the later side. Weekends are packed. We went on a Sunday and it was super duper packed! Don't worry though cuz if you can't find a table then you'll just end up dancing more and having more fun!! I can't wait to go back and check out all the different bands that play here. Drink prices were decent. Lighting inside is super dark inside so watch your step! Parking is very limited and if you are handicapped then you must tell the people there so they can move cones around to make space for you.

Came for our 4 year anniversary and wanted to see a live show in Austin. We had great drinks and had a fun time! I would recommend this place and you definitely need to come see Soul Man Sam!

It is definitely a classic Austin location that I hope will be around forever! I don't drink beer but they had some great drink specials for those who do. One of my friends was able to get a non-alcoholic beer, the other had a beer, and I had a couple of topo chicos. I think you can also order food there, but we didn't order anything. They also have decent parking options if not in their lot, on the street so we didn't have to walk too far. And I appreciated that Jane was playing at an earlier time. Her band's songs were oldies but goodies and they got several people out on the dance floor! I hope to find myself at Carousel Lounge again soon!

Very spacious inside. Drink prices are of a bygone era- they only sell beer and wine for alcohol options. Sound equipment was good I'm told. A classic spot.

You can already tell this place has got character and kitsch to spare. The interior design has an old 70s biker bar with pool tables galore. When you go outside, there are so many artifacts of old on display making the ambience much more immersive. As for the food, I got the chicago dog and onion petals and my friends got various other dishes that we all shard. Perfect bar food. It's bar food so you just gotta expect bar food. But it was all still really good. The fries and petals were seasoned really well and I also got an espresso martini which was heavenly. I wish it had the bean though. The hot dog really got me correct.

The drink was good, but the tab felt high. I had watched two bartenders pour a strict 1 oz of Mezcal Union, so I asked the bartender today how much the drink cost. She told me $13. When I noted that felt a bit steep for a 1 oz pour, she shut down and said she didn't set the prices. Later, I was chatting with my boyfriend about how neither Busty's nor Frazier's list drink prices on their menus. The customer sitting next to me jumped into my conversation and said she was just saying the same. I mentioned the Mezquito was $13 for a 1 oz pour. The bartender overheard, looked annoyed, and snapped, "It's actually 1.5 oz." I am unsure why she did not say this earlier when I had first asked. I later tried to smooth things over, suggesting that maybe a newer bartender had just under-poured last week by mistake, adding that 1.5 oz was completely reasonable for the price. Instead of de-escalating, she told me I was cut off because she "didn't appreciate" me talking about the prices to other guests. I am writing this review right after leaving and I think it's clear that I'm not drunk. I have never seen a guest treated so poorly--let alone a regular--simply for discussing menu prices. It's an incredibly poor way to handle a situation. Regulars are the lifeblood of neighborhood bars, but the brunette bartender with the wavy hair just ensured Busty's lost two of theirs.

Unfortunately, we've nearly stopped coming altogether because of how consistently rude the barista staff has been. We've visited this location around 20 times, mostly for the food, and I genuinely can't recall having a positive experience with the staff behind the coffee counter. Today was a reminder of why we stopped coming in. I ordered a latte, and when I walked up to the counter, there was no greeting or even a basic "How can I help you?" Instead, I was met with, "What do you want?" There was no one ahead of me, and after I waited nearby for my drink, the person making it yelled "HERE YOU GO!" right near us in a sarcastic, snide tone. It's disappointing because there are things we really do like about this place, but the experience at the counter has made it hard to justify coming back -- especially when the coffee itself isn't good enough to make up for being treated rudely. At this point, we'll likely stick with Epoch down the street and head to Bistro Vonish when we want our vegan fix.
