I took a group here for my boyfriend's birthday and we had SO much fun! This was our first time skydiving and opted for the 13,000 ft tandem with video and pics... Grey was our instructor and took us through everything we needed to know and was super nice and calming! Charlie Brown and Ross were our professional jumpers and then were AWESOME!!!! The three other people in my group immediately signed up for a second jump... I didn't have the $ on me but I will DEFINITELY be going again! The ONLY reason Skydance isn't getting 5 stars is because of the front desk girls... When I called to book the trip they weren't very helpful in answering first timer questions... they also aren't very good at calling clients back... Then I got to meet these ladies... wow! NO sense of humor and pretty rude...Usually when you answer phones and greet clients, you have some sort of customer service skills... not these ladies. read more

We went to Skydance to skydive for my husband's milestone birthday. It was our first experience skydiving and it was the most amazing experience. The staff are funny, professional and so experienced that the scariest part is reading the waiver and signing your life away. We upgraded to the 19,000 feet jump, which was about a 60 second free fall. I think the upgrade was definitely worth it because the free fall experience is so amazing and surreal that you just don't want it to end! Skydance was a great experience from beginning to end and it really made my husband's big day! Can't wait to jump again! read more

I surprised my husband with a skydive trip. This wouldn't be quite the big deal it was except he is paralyzed. I called around to many skydive places in the Bay Area and found that Greg was recommended the most . Being paralyzed has it scary moments every day so I thought this would be scary . Greg and all the people at skydance went above and beyond helping him. They took extra time and effort and man power , in gearing him up , getting him in the plane and helping with the landing. Go here if you're going to jump off a plane for the first time. The staff are pretty friendly. The tandem dive orientation guy was really good. The dive instructors are really cool, they put me and my friend at ease and they made the incredible experience truly memorable. Upgrade to 13kft for the first jump, you won't be sorry. :) The only reason why I can't give 5 stars is because even if you sign up for a time slot, no one really tells you you're not going to jump off within 30 minutes of that. There's going to be some wait. Plus my goggles were not a good fit. But Skydance is great and will trust them for my next jump! read more

I can't say enough about this drop zone. I have wanted to get my "A" license to skydive for just about my whole life, and when I started my research it was obvious to me that this was the best place to get it. I've done tandem at other drop zones, and it was fun, but it wasn't enough. I wanted a school that would give me the best instruction on how to jump myself, safely, and have as much fun as possible. I had heard that becoming a beginning skydiver, other divers will put you through your paces, and that they can be elitist and cliquey. Not so, here. Everyone was friendly to me from the very get-go, regardless of their level of expertise. Ground school was very comprehensive, from the correct terminology to use to the different emergency procedures. When it came time to make my first jump, I was really nervous and it showed. Everything went well and then I got tunnel vision and couldn't pull. My main instructor, Callie, ended up pulling for me. Thanks Callie for saving my life when I froze! I also messed up the landing, so she was kind enough to walk the entire perimeter of the landing area so that I wouldn't be confused next time. Since pulling your pilot chute is the most important thing in skydiving, she couldn't pass me for that jump, but she explained exactly why, and what I needed to do to pass my second time around. The next morning, I went to repeat my jump, and she had already debriefed my main instructor for the day, Greg, on how I had done. He very patiently went through the whole process and coached me on what to do to be able to land safely and pass my Category A jump. He coached me to a near-perfect landing and was able to see things I didn't even know existed. He was also my main instructor for my Category B jump and my reserve instructor was nice enough to take video so we could look at my technique. He gave me some groundwork to do so that I'd have a better chance at passing Category C and was very attentive and patient with me yet again. I worked with two reserve instructors, Daniel and Brian, on different jumps. Everyone I talked to was friendly, happy, and encouraging. If I had a question, someone would answer it. Even the regular jumpers who didn't work there were very friendly and fun to be around. There was not even the slightest hint of snobbery or elitism. They're also very safety-focused. At the DZ where I did my tandems, there was a lot of joking around and if you're nervous, it can make you really uncomfortable. When I overheard Greg laying down some safety rules on some of the more experienced divers, I knew I was in a safe place. They take safety very seriously--they won't let you jump unless they know you'll land safely and happily, and they won't graduate you if you're not ready. These are real skydivers who love the sport and they love sharing it with people. I can't recommend Skydance enough. I'm so glad I chose them to teach me how to fly. read more

I can't say enough great things about Skydance! A group of friends drove from all over all over the bay area for our first skydiving trip. We couldn't have picked a better place! The classroom instruction was helpful and put our minds at ease. Our instructor kept it very simple yet still informative. I have to admit that I was still extremely nervous, but my "jump master" who handled my tandem, Charlie Brown, yes his name is Charlie Brown, was absolutely amazing!! He is apparently not only a jump master but a pilot as well so I felt very lucky to have him lead me safely to the ground. He could tell I was a little nervous so he did his best to make me feel more comfortable, cracking some jokes, giving me great instruction and making me feel so at ease!! I would strongly recommend requesting Charlie if this is your first jump, well, any jump for that matter! Now on to the video portion. A handful of my friends decided to get videos of their jumps, and since I went last, I was able to watch their videos before my jump. They actually shoot, edit and hand you your DVD within about 10-15 minutes of your landing. I had the opportunity to watch the 3 different DVD's and was blown away by Nick's videography and editing. Plus, he was super friendly and outgoing, making jokes and hanging out with our group. I was lucky enough to request him and he filmed my jump. I would strongly recommend getting the video to document your jump especially if this is your first time. Since you're given your own designated videographer for the entire process, from suiting up to after the landing they capture just about every detail. I would hands down say if you can't get Nick for your jump, wait for the next plane until he is available. Not only was his videography excellent, he also took the time to edit the video with music, slow motion clips, rewind features at the coolest spots; he really took some time and effort to make the video amazing!! I put it on FB and had just as many people comment on how cool the video was as I did on how cool it was that I actually went skydiving! I would recomment Skydance even if it's further than some of the other skydiving places for the instructors and videographers! Amazing experience and I will definitely be back! read more

My brother and i have been wanting to go skydiving for a long time. We made our appointment to go on a friday, but it got cancelled because of to strong of winds.so check wind forecast they can't go if winds are at 28mph it was 30. So we made reservations for the next Friday. We decided on 1300 feet tandem. We watched saftey video and met up with our instructors. Who by the way were so cool. Kevin was with my brother and I was with BMac later was named Home Depot after a funny introduction. He say hey do you want to fly with me ?i said sure. He said you dont even know me lol . Is this your first skydive? Yes I said He said mine too this ought to be interesting Lol then another guy says yah we found this guy at Home Depot this morning asked him if he wanted to jump out of a plane. He watched a you tube video you guys should be fine. Lol i decided to get video when they asked me 3 Questions 1 what altitude is it.? It was 5000 ft Who is the most important person in your life right now I said my Family. But then realized Bmac was but i couldnt remember his name when they asked me whats your instuctors name i said Home Depot LoL. We were laughing the whole time. Bmac was amazing asked of i liked roller coasters i said yes .then he made us spin and and did crazy turns in the sky. Best day of my life. Already paid for my next jump. Please tip your instuctors they are independent not employed. I tipped camera guy as well. You get a flash drive.$ 107.00. Worth every penny! This was my second time Skydiving here. Literally JUST did my second jump. Both jumps were fantastic!! The instructors and videographers were awesome!!! The 2 stars are for the office and the business side of this place. Background: after you jump, you're given a coupon to buy your next jump at a HUGE discount (~50% off)! However, this can only be used once... Since I used it to buy my second jump, I wasn't able to use it to buy a third. It's false advertising!!!! Why give me the coupon a second time if I can't use it?! No disclaimer or anything. Total bummer! Sorry Skydance, neither I nor my friends will be coming here again. read more

I have never yelped a thing in my life (as a service industry person I often think it's unnecessarily harsh) but I did download it just to express how amazing my experience was at skydance. I did a 13k tandem jump for the first time here and it was such an amazing experience. The staff is a great combo of professional but warm and welcoming simultaneously. There was never a moment I did not feel fully aware or notified by staff members. I never felt unsafe at anytime ( and I'm deathly afraid of heights ) . Extreme. Fun. Happy to be alive. The best part was playing with the parachute controls and coming to a near stop. Staff was for the most part friendly but I had the same experience as Mona M. My instructor was a stick in the mood who sounded like he was reading instructions from a script. Other instructors where more engaging (Jeff seemed to be much better according to a fellow jumper). I would suggest you try to book an instructor that is recommended before jumping. read more

Stop reading reviews and just go do it! I'm not an extreme sports guy, I don't like heights. But this is like nothing you've ever done before. It isn't like being up high on a building or bridge at all. It isn't like riding a roller coaster. You know the dreams where you are flying? This is as close as you can get. It is exhilarating, exciting and even relaxing all at the same time. There was a brief second where my brain realized I'd just stepped out of a plane a couple miles up but as soon as I saw the view the entire trip down was amazing. I thought I'd be terrified but I wasn't, I wanted to go again as soon as we landed. And the landing was super smooth. Call these guys, I'd think who you go with is important so call these guys. The experience itself was amazing. My instructor was great as was my video guy. This was my first dive but they put me completely at ease. The lack of 5 starts comes from the wait. We had a 9:00 am reservation so should have had very little wait. The place was packed within minutes of us getting there and we waited 2 hours. Awesome experience jumping from 13,000ft. I can't say how this compares to other dropzones since I have not been to any other ones. My instructors there are ok. They don't seem too in to making it fun and engaging, but more of a chore. It's all good since I was there for the thrill and not really anything else. They said expect to stay 3 to 5 hours for the whole thing and by the time we got there and the time we suited up, it was already 3 hours. A slow three hours. We saw about 5 planes take off before they called us. All in all, I am considering going again. The first time it went by too quickly, did not have a good sleep the night before, and just didn't know what to expect. I give it 5 stars because it was a great thrill. Service-wise, I give them 2 stars. Not well organized, not informative, and not that enthusiastic. I still give it 5 stars because I am reporting back here to tell you how great the feeling is. read more

My sister treated our father, my husband and I to our first tandem skydives on 8/24/13. ( I should preface this review by saying that I am an overweight overly-tall woman whose sense of adventure generally extends as far as taking a nice leisurely hike and who has to take a mild sedative to even fly in a commercial plane.) We had the first reservation of the day at Skydance and arrived with a gaggle of family members in tow, including teens, kids, and a toddler. The check-in was a bit chaotic but I think that was due to the sheer volume of jumpers they had on site that day for a skills camp. Once we realized where we needed to go everything from there on went smoothly. We watched a video by the inventor of the tandem parachute essentially telling us that if we die it's not his fault (I think- the guy has a seriously creepy beard. I couldn't honestly tell you for sure what he said because I was so mesmerized by his creeper beard). Then we sign more paperwork saying that if we die its nobody's fault (this is industry standard stuff from what I have read. Save yourself 5 minutes of your life and just initial and sign). Then you pay, and if you are like me and between 225-250 pounds expect to pay a $20 fee (fat tax.) I had no issue at all paying a fat tax! I was just happy I could skydive at my weight! Before we knew it was jumping time! There were two instructors that day so my sister and father went up first. Their plane was fairly empty and it seemed like they were up to jump altitude in no time... it was awesome to watch them from the ground! It took a while longer before my husband and I got to go up, but our time did eventually arrive. Our plane was packed, 19 jumpers I believe. The worst part of the whole experience was on the flight up. I remember thinking we were 'so high up' and then checking my altimeter and realizing we were only 5000', and had another 8000' to go! Ugh! That was the only time my tummy did flippy floppies. We made some tension-easing small talk and before I knew it we were at the right elevation and jumpers started pouring out. Those experienced guys are so cool and calm- it was great on my nerves to be surrounded by their positive vibes. I watched as my husband and his instructor went out and then it was my turn! As we stepped up to that line everything they had told us to remember fled my brain and I am pretty sure I could not have even recited my own name at that point. But glancing up at the cameraman I did remember one thing 'be sure to give the camera some love right before you jump!' So I looked right at him, smiled, and ... and... flipped the bird. Yep... in my crazy-nervous state I meant to throw down or do something cool-ish and instead I flipped the middle finger. (Note to reader: don't do that. You will feel like a douche). They we were off! The rest went way too fast, but it was amazing. I can't even begin to describe the awesomeness, but I was overtaken with excitement and awe... also the views were simply stunning. It was hard to catch my breath during the free fall but it got easier pretty quickly. All too soon I checked and we were at 6000' and a few seconds later I was opening the parachute at 5000'. The world instantly slowed down after a good 'jerk' and everything got so quiet and peaceful. I really enjoyed the ride with the parachute as well. My instructor told me what landmarks we were looking at and helped adjust the harness on the way down. I am prone to motion sickness but did not experience any with the trip up or down. All too soon we were making a completely smooth landing and before I knew it I was exchanging a 'horary we're alive!' kiss with my hubby. The whole family was never bored and really enjoyed watching us jump and land. Two more things I want to add 1- get the video and photo package. It's a no-brainer. They will be epic, and you will instantly want to put them on facebook to show everyone what a badass skydiver you are. 2- I wish I could remember the names of our instructors because they were AWESOME. We had minimal cash on hand and I truly wish I had brought more to leave a better tip. So bring CASH for a tip! We were only able to leave $20 each and I didn't feel like that was enough after they provided us with such an amazing experience. In conclusion, you have GOT to try skydiving and I think Skydance Skydiving is a great place to do that! read more

I am so very glad to have this opportunity to express how I feel about the jump. I Have always dreamed and talked about jumping from an airplane, I always wanted to know how it felt to fly. I finally decided to go for it at the age of 48. My experience was something that was out of this world. From the time I arrived to the time I left. Everyone in the check in was very friendly, the class, the instructor which taught the course AND jumped with me was amazing. It was Kevin that jumped with me. I had no fear what so ever, he made me feel so safe from the time he helped buckle up my gear to unbuckling my gear after the jump. i loved it! but it's sky diving...who wouldn't love it... disclaimer video freaked me out a bit...zz top skinny guy wearing a suit saying "by signing this form you are agreeing that you understand the risks...that any malfunction that causes injury or DEATH...." i think i heard the word death in that video 5 times. expect a long wait..due to wind and weather..like the day i went, diving can be delayed. my appt was at 3 and i didn't go until 6:30. bring a book. staff was super friendly and informative and eased my mind. so lucky to have malan as my tandem mate. showed me some fun tricks! i actually thought the snack shack lady was great. she made a killer quesadilla...well pretty good for a snack shack...and let me use her computer. she also had many funny stories to share and gave me advice on where to go when i get into the bay. her daughter had an attitude but i guess you would too if you are a teenager stuck with your mom selling beers in tin kitchen. read more

Videographer Kurt asked me why I was jumping? Was it the thrill, or bucket list? I told him neither. I was hitting the "reset button on my life." I was so scared I wanted to wet my pants. Jack (jump master) and Kurt took great care to give me the most incredible reset of my life! Skydance gave me a coupon for another jump and I am taking advantage of it. so i was driving to lodi to get some supplies.. saw the skydiving going and decided i'm gonna get this done. spoke to a friend about it and he said go to the davis one, its better. so i checked out the website, looked good, saw the student discount.. asked them about it. ended up saving $40 on the jump+dvd package. this was my first time and i had a blast. the most nervous part was when it was time to jump. charlie made it easy for me as we got to the edge, he only gave me a second or two and we were in the air. damn, the adrenaline was pumping through my body. i got to pilot the parachute with the instructors help. if you haven't been skydiving before, you gotta do it! it's loads of fun! its quite an expensive hobby otherwise i'd go often- read more

Everyone there was great! Some challenges - not their fault! - with a power outage, but just helped to prove what a great group it is. The whole group is a big conglomeration of family and friends and brings that positive energy into the experience. My husband and daughter were the ones to actually skydive and LOVED it! My only recommendation is to make sure and bring snacks, water, and a blanket for the wait. read more
