This was my first balloon ride and we chose this company because they had so many positive reviews. It was a really good choice and we had the best time! The weather was perfect. We had to reschedule a few times but that is because they care about your safety! I really appreciated how safe they were and they took it very seriously! If it's possible - this surpassed expectations! Mike and his crew took us up for 96 mins, 15.04 ground distance in miles, and 5040 feet in the air. We decided to go for a balloon ride to celebrate our 10 year anniversary, thank you Mike and Yolo Ballooning Adventures for making it memorable! Mike and Myka were great! Mike explained the entire process and told us what to expect throughout the experience; from set-up, through flight and landing, so there were no surprises. After landing, we were taken back to the Turkovich tasting room, where we had a "Champagne" toast and went through the photos and video that were taken throughout our adventure. The photos and videos were sent to us for no additional cost. We were also given a voucher for wine tasting for two. We met at Turkovich Winery in Winters and drove as a group to the launch field. On the ride to the launch field, we got a rundown of what to expect, information about hot air ballooning in general and a lot of great safety tips. They made sure everyone felt comfortable prior to boarding and walked us through the entire process from start to finish. During launch, Ignacio educated us on everything that was happening, gave us information about the geography and was an all around incredible pilot and host. WOW!! May 16th my family and I experienced our very first balloon ride with Yolo Ballooning Adventures and it was a truly magical experience. Booking the flight was super easy and the communication of flight details were great. The only thing I was worried about was that we did not get a confirmation day before like the email said. Otherwise we arrived at Turkovitch family wine for check in about 5:30am, from there we got a ride to the balloon take off spot. There were other balloons there as well. Pilots Mike and Ignacio were extremely knowledgeable of safety precautions and explained the flight plan from beginning to end. The flight was amazing and the weather even better. We had very light showers that day but nothing that deterred our plans. Being that high in the sky really made you feel like you were flying, it was so smooth and felt very comfortable and secure. The flight was about 90 mins in total, 15.4 miles and 5,040ft high!! So Epic. We finished the flight meeting back at Tukovitch family wines with a toast of champagne. Finally had a lovely breakfast at Putah creek cafe! I highly recommend this experience for anyone looking to try something new but not afraid of heights. Everything was wonderful the morning of May 7, 2023. A great group of people on board and Ignacio and Mike are totally enthusiastic about piloting, ballooning, and history of ballooning as well. They are incredibly professional and friendly and fun. In fact, it was so great that we did not want to land. That was the only sad part. My boyfriend surprised me with a private hot air balloon flight for our anniversary. What an experience! We started in Woodland and landed in Dixon. It was exhilarating to see Yolo County from the air. We could see Woodland, West Davis, Dixon, the 80, and the 113 from above. In the distance, we could see Winters, the peaks of the Sierra Nevadas, and the shadow of Mt. Diablo. I loved how friendly and knowledgeable the staff were. We got to help out a bit in setting up the hot air balloon and then watched as they inflated the balloon with cold and then hot air. After securing a Go Pro to one of the ropes, we went up up and away! Mike is an awesome pilot and I felt completely at ease with him piloting. During the flight, there was constant communication between Mike and the drivers (because you never know where you're going to end up landing). Our journey ended in a dead alfalfa field going 20 mph and sideways. The Go Pro photos turned out to be amazing and Mike showed us the route we took by air. As tradition has it, the Balloonist's Prayer was recited and we made a toast to our safe landing. I highly recommend booking your next hot air ballooning experience with Yolo Ballooning Adventures. Flying high above our hometown of Winters just after sunrise was a fantastic way to celebrate a belated birthday for my son. We were even able to see our house! Mike and his crew were professional, informative and gave confidence to a couple in our party that were anxious about the trip. Once we gently lifted into the air (didn't even realize he had left the ground), fears disappeared and everyone was in awe of the beautiful views.
