We didn't look at any other tourist sites, nor did we have any ideas for an itinerary. We told Kili that we wanted a long-trip, as we believed we would never go back. That's when Kili informed us that she named the company Next Adventure, as everyone who travels to Africa usually wishes to return. We knew we wanted to go gorilla trekking, see elephants and experience the local people and cultures. Beyond that, we did no research. Kili created the perfect itinerary that exceeded our expectations. From the moment we landed until our final day, we were treated to amazing people, customer service and respect. We were comforted knowing that Next Adventure was monitoring every step of our journey. We visited four camps: Bwindi Lodge (Uganda), Kechechi, Lewa, and Sarara camps (Kenya), and each adventure was fantastic. The employees at each camp were so welcoming and proud of their heritage, and provided outstanding service. It was also a blast having communal meals with the guests at each camp and we made connections from around the globe. We saw every animal that we hoped to see, yet the human connections, especially with the locals proved to be the highlight of the trip. People in Africa have such a difficult life, and yet, they are a happy, smiling and proud people. Stories were shared, we were invited into villages and homes. It was an unforgettable experience and we will work with Kili and Next Adventure for a later trip.

It was my first time going on the Hornblower for dinner. It was a office party celebrating our win…read moreover the competition. We were greeted by the staff at the gate for check-in. The dining area was up one floor. There were plenty of room on the floor for everyone to dance. A live DJ and bar. Besides our office party, there was a birthday and anniversary party. A few others were on dates. The boat pushed off the dock slowly and was speeding along the water. We circled the entire bay passing all the landmarks, seeing the sunset over the Golden Gate Bridge, passing Tiburon where the San Rafael bridge and Belvedere Island can be seen. I've never gone out that far. Boat wasn't too rocky. It was enough for people in heels to move around the boat and catch the scenery. It was great seeing the city lights and the Bay Bridge lightshow. It's been a decade since the lights on the Bay Bridge were off. Food was well made and delicious. I ordered the dumplings for appetizer, steak and toffee crunch chocolate cake. I couldn't finish my cake. It was so rich. Riding on the boat is well worth the experience if you haven't done so. It's a getaway from city and work life. Hats off to the crew, DJ and celebrity chef.

We took a City Cruise boat to Alcatraz. It was like $50/person or so, for a round trip. They had a…read morelot of times so we were able to wait in line and catch one pretty much almost immediately. The boat was fine. There isn't a ton of seating outside but there was some seating inside (covered). They actually had a snack bar even for such a short ride. To my amazement, I saw tons of people flocking to buy treats for like a 10 minute ride to Alcatraz. It is a little rocky on the water and my mother in law was getting a bit seasick on the return ride home. But as someone who's not really affected by seasickness I thought the ride was okay, maybe a tiny bit choppy at times.

DISGUSTING HOTEL and AREA! Hotel Santo Tomas is NOT a 3-star…read morehotel by any stretch of the imagination, it is 1.5 stars AT BEST. It is located in a shanty and very dangerous part of town. Because of that, the hotel's main entrance is heavily gated with thick metal bars all the way to the roof and looks like a jail. This of course is not shown in any of its advertising photos. I have NEVER seen nor heard of a 3-star hotel (or any hotel) with metal bars in its entrance The room we stayed in, although an upgrade from economy rooms, was also unacceptable: Deeply scratched walls, dirty worn out carpets, dust everywhere, broken inside door-latch, totally broken door handle that fell off, huge stains on its curtains and chair, and fleas! This was the only room in the hotel with air-conditioning, although the hotel is located in the Tropics. Its manager Marcos is not a person to be trusted. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should anyone stay in that area and especially in this "hotel" Santo Tomas. I had to get my money back from the credit card for the booking because Marcos did not allow us to stay after I had complained about the hotel even though we had already paid for the room. I want to write much more sharp words and in great detail about this "hotel", but unfortunately the Search Engine does not allow me.
