With all the fires, crazy heat in October, COVID, and everything else in between, kayaking through the Napa River this past gloomy Saturday morning was a perfect activity to forget the current events even if it was for just a moment. With ample parking and a quick walk through the plaza, this is something everyone should enjoy at least once while in Downtown Napa. The staff was friendly, attentive, and had us on our way in our kayaks to explore on our own. They also have guided tours if that peaks your interest. Great experience. I had a great time kayaking here on a Saturday morning before heading to brunch and wineries! There are slots at 8:30, 11, 1, and 3. As expected, 11AM is the most popular and you'll find last minute spots on the earliest and latest time slots. I booked this through Groupon, it went super smooth! This was our first time on a Kayak. The experience on a double Kayak was amazing. My wife has a disability and I knew that it could be challenging for a 66 old person. The location was easy to find with free 3 hour parking. We arrived at 10:20 with a 11am reservation. Justin and Thomas were able to get us out at 10:40 with no waiting. Our group of 6 adults and 2 toddlers spent a wonderful afternoon kayaking on 9/13 on the NAPA River with Justin as our guide. Justin provided excellent customer service and was vary accommodating to our needs. He allowed us to wait past the scheduled departure time while we were waiting for the last person of our group to show up. We also forgot the life jacket for our 3 year old, bur Jason did some digging elsewhere and came up with one. The river was very calm and peaceful, as well as being a beautiful day. Justin was very patient and helpful with the less experienced ones in our group. It was a very relaxed experience. He was very friendly, and informative about the area. Booked a history guided tour with Justin, a friendly, knowledgeable, down to earth guy. We were a group of two tandem kayaks, just us, so it turned out to be a private tour with our kayaks being the only boats on the river on a nice sunny day. Justin was great in helping us with instructions, pointing out historic buildings along the river, telling stories of the old wine and gold rush town of Napa. You can tell Justin loves what he does and the Napa Valley; he made the tour interesting and informative. After the first hour, we were free to explore the river ourselves and test out our kayaking skills. read more

I didn't even know you could go paddle boarding in Napa! I'm not from the area so I kind of forgot there's a Napa river, but wow, what a beautiful and easy place to go stand up paddle boarding (also, a really great covid/friendly activity!) We made a reservation for 2 people for 2 hours on Sunday and arrived at the dock. Per person it was $53. One thing that was slightly confusing on their website was that it looked like you could do 1 hour, but the minimum was actually 2 hours. Parking was really easy on the street. One of my friends brought her own paddle board, which is allowed as well. I loved that this place is right on the dock, so you don't have to carry your paddle board anywhere, which is what I've done at other locations. We ended up using the full time and enjoyed every minute of it! The river is really calm and easy to paddle on, and the weather was perfect, plus the views of downtown Napa are really serene and beautiful. Would definitely come here and use this company again! read more

Great experience here with our 2 hour kayaking and paddle boarding activities as a family. Thanks for the great service from Justin and his staff, we felt very welcome and equipments are cleaned and ready for us when we arrived. Covid: Staffs there are really good about sanitizing and cleaning, even down to giving u the paddle, they only touch the ends of the paddle and not the part where we will be holding to keep them germ free. Thanks for being considerate. Everyone wore mask, of course. They had disinfectant spray where I saw them use for frequent cleaning. River details: The river wasn't that long though but if you are looking for something low key to do with kids, this can be fun. The river wasn't too clean but we were not there to swim and just mostly on the kayak cruising and enjoying the scenery. And you don't really fall off the paddle board unless you have a hard time balancing in general. Booking: We booked online through their website a few days before arriving. We also found a great deal on Groupon before we booked it and used vouchers. Very affordable activity. Who is it for? Great activity for tourist visiting Napa. We are basically locals from the Bay Area and thought it was enjoyable. Great for tweens and teens. Kayak can work for those who are under 9 yrs old, very safe and life vest are provided. Even elderly ones can do kayak, just wear a hat and wear lots of sunblock! You will be under the sun for 2 hours with NO SHADE. What to wear: Wear swim trunks. Bathing suit under clothes for ladies. I wore a terry smock dress over my bathing suit and it was perfect. Water shoes can help if you concern about grip especially on paddle board. Overall, a fun experience for the family. Excellent kayaking tour on the Napa river. We took the history tour, so you get some flavor of this old and interesting river city. You also get the "secret" history "they" don't want you to know, which was kind of fun. There was plenty of free time at the end for quiet paddling and exploring. We rented a tandem kayak with a Groupon on our ten-year wedding anniversary. Our guide, Justin, was very responsive when making and confirming our reservation and greeted us with a warm Happy Anniversary on the morning of our kayak trip. He was very knowledgeable of the area, and pointed out facts about the wildlife we might see on our adventure. He recommended routes to take, gave us some info regarding the equipment, and sent us on our way. I appreciated his keeping an eye on us as we kayaked down the river for safety's sake, while also allowing us to have our romantic alone-time. The river was very serene, and we saw a wealth of different birds. Justin did point out some homeless setting up residence underneath one of the bridges, but assured us that they were harmless. We appreciated the reassurance. We would certainly rent kayaks from this company again! read more

I was in Napa earlier this year, and was looking for fun stuff to do other than taste wine (though we also tasted a ton of wine, obviously). I saw kayak rentals on Groupon and figured it could be fun. I will say, everything about the experience that was in their control was great - though if I were back, I would totally do the tour next time instead of just renting a kayak (the tour wasn't on Groupon at the time). Checkin was painless, and their kayaks were great (they had plenty of both dual and singles, your choice, and they were the super stable kind). And the river was gorgeous, and super relaxing - I was just sad we didn't see any wildlife other than birds and bugs (tons of geese at one point though, that was neat). That part's not really under their control though, even if they did tell us we would see turtles (I wanted to see turtles, dang it!) Also not under their control, about 90% of the way back, my wife's kayak somehow tipped from the back and filled up with water (I guess she leaned too far back?) Thankfully there was a shore nearby she could swim to and dump the water out from - it was private property, so also thankfully the dad and kid fishing there were fine with us crashing on their backyard for a couple minutes, and even helped her tip the kayak over. When we got back and told them what had happened, they were extremely apologetic and offered to give us a refund, though sadly since it was a Groupon, they were unable to, but we could tell it wasn't something that happened often, and that they felt bad (they offered to give us a free rental in the future instead, though I'm not sure when we'll be back in Napa). My only other small complaint that they have *some* control over: they should really have some place to fill up water bottles nearby. I was happy we brought water bottles with us, but it was way more hassle than I was expecting to find a place to fill them. read more

Had a great experience kayaking, we did the history tour that gives you an hour with the tour and an hour to roam on your own. The history tour was interesting and engaging. Our guide had a great deal of knowledge, unfortunately he didn't share enough about the Indigenous people of the land and how they were systematically removed by early settlers. He did share with us after the tour a lot of these details and civil rights aspects of Napa, he just didn't do it during the tour. The kayaks were a little uncomfortable on our backs (my husband and I were on a tandem) and we think with a little more care and attention, the seats could have been adjusted. These were minor issues, I would still recommend checking out kayaks and a tour with this company! read more

Husband and I purchased a guided kayaking tour of the Napa river. Word to those wiser than me, when scheduling the day make sure to include both parties name. I must've missed that but thankfully our guide (I think his name is Justin) was smarter than me and knew there would be two of us. I don't know what I would've done if we showed up and they didn't have enough kayaks for us! In the description it says 2 hours from start to finish. The first hour was guided and the second hour was free for us to explore. Our guide was a pretty awesome guy. Again, I think his name is justin. I'm terrible remembering names! But he had a lot of fun facts to share about Napa. He's also amazing at remembering all of our names. There was at least 12 of us and right at the start of the tour he went through our names. He even used them throughout the tour, which gave it a more personal feel. The kayaking was great. There's so much of the river to explore and with ample time to do it. The kayaks and life vests were in great condition. I appreciated that they made a point to have us leave our vests on the dock and not hang them up so they knew those needed sanitizing. We really enjoyed this experience and would definitely recommend it to others! read more

We spent a beautiful Saturday the day before Easter, kayaking down the Napa River with another couple, and learning about it's exciting history from Justin, the owner of Enjoy Napa Valley. He was an amazing guide and really taught us a lot about the river, people, and town. We showed up very early to check in, so he said we could kill some time in town (I highly recommend stopping for drinks and food at Tannery Brewing a few blocks away.) We returned at about 5 minutes before the time we would be getting on the water and that was perfect, except for having to wait on a couple of girls who ubered to the water and showed up late. A 5 minute instructional talk got everybody acquainted; some of us had been on kayaks before, some had not. We were all given life jackets to wear and 4 of us were in single kayaks (uber girls were tandem). Justin paddled ahead of us for about an hour, and then we had an hour or a little less to play on our own and look for wildlife. The entire time we followed him he spoke plenty loud enough for everyone to hear and be entertained. It was the perfect amount of guide time and time alone. The current was working against us as we returned, but we gave ourselves plenty of time to get back. Uber girls were still nowhere to be seen as we dropped off the kayaks to Justin. (Probably made him late to the Too $hort concert he was headed to after the last kayak was dried off.) I found this trip on Groupon but booked directly through the company, and it was worth every penny. Tipped about as much as we paid since we were so impressed. We booked this trip a little off-season but got lucky with good weather. I'm sure as spring/summer creeps up he will be busier than he can handle if every trip is as fun as ours! He was so funny, interesting, and everyone had a blast. Justin is really good at his job and has a passion for pleasing his customers, remembering their names, and personalizing the trip. We'd recommend it to anyone, especially if you enjoy Napa! It's close to downtown so there's lots to do once your done with the kayaking! read more
