It was a nice park, the swings are placed far away from the play structures though which i think was weird lol. The park has enough shade, i'm not sure if there's any bathroom though. Overall would recommend

Photo - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hillview-park-fairfield?select=W8T_O-SV1Oy2k0yuTiVf6g#8-3fS2VWs_mZSqWyjaZuyA First impression, awesome open space... 'The grass looked to be watered regularly, lush & green but there were a few areas were in need of some attention. (i.e. - Landscaping; maintenance; trash) "Hillview Park" - ww.yelp.com/biz_photos/hillview-park-fairfield?select=W8T_O-SV1Oy2k0yuTiVf6g#W8T_O-SV1Oy2k0yuTiVf6g It's a nice park, just a few observations: - Outdated/damaged par course stations - Dirt paths; could use some paved walkways ('Makes a huge difference when the rainy season arrives.) - Concrete picnic tables; BBQ stations - Lighting (Quite a few lampposts but whether they work or not is another matter.) - Concrete garbage receptacles (Old; damaged) - No "doggie bag" poop stations - Children's play area (The equipment looked to be in good condition.) (You know the miniature, faded, blue plastic horse, attached to a giant spring?... 'That if you're not careful, is a perfect receipt for a face plant.) Well, it has been a while since I was last here... 'Now, it's all grown up, it's huge!... 'With a little attention & care, Hillview Park has a lot of potential to be a great park, it definitely has the space for it. HAPA Boy - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hillview-park-fairfield?select=W8T_O-SV1Oy2k0yuTiVf6g#VK0tM_j-pcELtI1a6ba_JA The Pack and I arrived a little after 3:30pm. There weren't too many people out, a few people passing through walking their dogs, two guys practicing their "putting swing," which, "NO golfing," was one of the park rules. (Shrugs) No harm, no foul. We stayed for about 45 minutes and by the time we left a half dozen kids were playing a game of football... 'Seems like a pretty cool park. The dogs @ play - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hillview-park-fairfield?select=W8T_O-SV1Oy2k0yuTiVf6g#0TbZK4xzyLeLGS2w92mSgQ 'And what is a park without the customary, abandoned, busted up shopping cart?... Photo - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hillview-park-fairfield?select=W8T_O-SV1Oy2k0yuTiVf6g#soK2vWvcIhBJiAnirYDV-g One thing that did stand out was all the litter spewed throughout the park. People just don't get it... "Folks, this is YOUR park, provided by the city for your 'parking pleasure,' the least people can do is make some sort of effort to help keep it clean!" I just don't get it sometimes, I'd see the same thing in South OC and it always made me wonder if people really appreciate what they have?... Beautiful parks, well taken care of, watered & maintained, yet people feel the need to litter, not pick up after their dogs and blatantly disrespect the place they call "home." (Sigh) Go figure. My apologies, I digress. However, on that note... Trash - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hillview-park-fairfield?select=W8T_O-SV1Oy2k0yuTiVf6g#n7bsn1OEd0DHGpN-YhKGlA While I was looking up directions to Hillview Park, I came across this bit of information: "Join Waypoint Homes to refresh park" - Waypoint Homes, an Oakland-based, single-family, rental company with a strong presence in Solano County, has recently made its first investment in partnership with the City of Fairfield as part of its Waypoint Invests in Neighborhoods (WIN) Program, which will soon be rolled out nationally." 'Lots of space, not in bad shape but could use some sprucing up & attention. I'm looking forward to seeing how Hillview develops now that Waypoint Homes has made a public commitment into "refreshing," the neighborhood park. Exercise equipment. A large field for soccer games. Lots of parking. Restrooms and water fountains. Play structures for children. I considered buying a house in this area partially for this park. The dog park is separated into two areas which are not connected. The small dog park is very flat and down some steps or a slope from the restroom picnic area. The large dog park is to the left and goes on a hill. The large dog park has two paved paths. One is like a switch back. The other goes straight up the hill. There's water fountains for the dogs at both the top and bottom of the park. There are also two double gated entrances. The park has some agility structures at the top of the hill, some metal benches throughout, waste bags and trash bins. The landscaping is mostly dirt/bark. There are plenty of trees in the park so the dogs to sniff. It's a great park for the sniffari type of dogs. It's also quite large! It's great for getting your steps in to walk up and down the paths. Most of the people I've met there have been great. On one occasion I have seen a dog walker bringing in 10+ dogs at once... The only words of caution I have would be to dress for the wind and in the summer I have witnessed a snake in the dog park.

The only downside is no matter what because of the location expect high winds at almost all times of the year and day. One of the greatest things I love about this park and I hope to preserve is how clean it is . Rarely as their trash scattered and almost always the parties pick up after themselves where they can meaning they put their stuff and bag it up and put it in the trash or take it out to the dumpsters. This matters when you have a community space ! there's also bulletin boards throughout that show when the parks are reserved for events or when the tables have reservations for parties. (to book reservations or parties you do it directly through the Fairfield rec and parks website.) Last but not least they have a shared book library . It's been there for about three years now I believe.
