    Small dog park gate

The best fenced dog park I've ever been to! As the owner of a 7 lb dog, having separate big dog/small dog fenced areas is so appreciated. This park has lots of space, running water, balls, benches, and several shaded areas. I've been 7-8 times and have never had a problem with other owners or dogs. Outside the fenced park is an open space for hiking with your dog off-leash...bonus! Only negative are the foxtails in late spring/early summer.

Alston Park is a very nice and easy trail. The loop is about 2.5 miles, but there are also different trails you can take that lead to the loop if you want to take a short cut. There are lots of benches to sit and rest. There is also a picnic area straight ahead over a little steep area. Good views of the vineyard nearby. Loved that this place is dog friendly. There are no real bathrooms, only portable bathrooms. The con is that it looked like it should be emptied out. I walked in then walked right out.

This just might be a great place for you and your dog! However, if you're looking for a place to hike, this is not it. It was very muddy and there were dogs everywhere! Big dogs, little dogs, brown dogs, white dogs but especially UNLEASHED dogs. I felt like I was in a Dr. Seuss book. Lol.

Amazing location. The views- the work out- the other dogs. Was a great experience for my dog and we spent a good 3h there today. There's clearly marked on leash and off leash areas- i didn't want to press my luck so waited until i crossed that line- good thing i did, there ARE park rangers. Parking was easy- owners were respectful and cleaning up After their dogs etc. highly recommend!

The walk-around loop is great, and most people walk their dogs off leash here even though the sign says not to. Anyway, it's a nice and easy walk. The enclosed dog park is by far the best dog park I've been to. The area for large dogs is humongous! Wonderful grass and dirt playground for dogs to spread out; it doesn't get crowded, and the dogs can run around until their hearts are content (dog parks with too small of an area leads to dog fights or other bad behaviors because they don't have enough room to spread out). Relatively clean too as I didn't see too many poops not picked up. There are also several benches around the playground for humans to sit. The small dog area itself is also huge. The size of this playground is equivalent to a large dog play area in SF :D I'd recommend not taking small children into the dog play areas. Seems like common sense to me, but I saw several small kids in there.

My family and I go here all of the time to get some exercise, some fresh air and have a small adventure. People take their horses and their dogs (separate part of the park) to share the trails that have some incredible views of the Napa Valley. You can go down to a creek on the western most part of the park, down the hill (warning: there are some wire fences that may mean it is private property). Multiple trails with a variety of different grades are great for walking, running or mountain biking. From http://www.visitnapavalley.com/hiking_biking-alston_park_814.htm: "Alston Park covers 157 acres in the unobstructed rolling hills of northwest Napa. The open-space park, owned by the city of Napa, was made public in 1991. Alston Park has three miles of meandering trails that are open to equestrians, mountain bikers, hikers, and dog walkers. Redwood Creek, a tributary of the Napa River, forms the park's western boundary. This hike climbs to the upper area known as Canine Commons, a popular off-leash dog area. The trail circles the oak-dotted grassland through an old plum orchard on the south and wildflower- covered meadows with oak and madrone groves to the north. The hike detours into the shaded canyon by Redwood Creek and leads to picnic areas and overlooks, offering sweeping vistas of the city of Napa and Napa Valley."

This is the BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD. The HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH, (don't tell Pluto and Goofy). Well I LOVE this place, you see I'm a city boy to me-a parking lot is where I could run, so when we went to this place I was in heaven, (well really we all go there.. heaven that is.) I ran and ran and ran and ran and ran and ran, because I did not run out of place to run :) I LOVE THIS PLACE.

I absolutely LOVE coming to Alston Park! It's a great place to bring your dog, especially since they have the closed area which has plenty of space for your dog to roam free. They have a kiddy pool that you can fill up with water for those hot summer days. There's also a small dog enclosed area as well, just in case you don't feel comfortable having your dog in the other area. If you feel like taking yourself on a walk with your dog, then head up the hill to where there's a big area for off leash dogs and just follow the walkway. A lot of people have their dogs off leash, but you can also keep your dog on a leash if you're uncomfortable. There's a couple of faucets and dog bowls just in case your dog gets thirsty. You can also go further into the park and go hiking up in the on leash area. The park is pretty big and there's lots of different trails to take. If you go into this area there's some picnic benches, but no water faucets for your dog. The area doesn't have very many trees either so there's not much shade when it's hot outside. The park is generally pretty busy and there's always dogs there. Definitely bring your dog here, he/she will LOVE it! PLEASE pick up after your dog. The county provides bags free of charge, look for them around the park, and there's garbage bins all around as well. It's not only for humans, but dogs do not need to be smelling other dogs' feces, especially after bugs and worms have invaded it. It's an overall health concern for dogs, and if you're a dog owner then you should have the respect for other dog owners as well.

Visiting from Vancouver, BC with our puppy made a road trip to the Napa Valley even more worthwhile! The residents of Napa are considered very lucky to have such an area where you can bring your dog (any size) and tour the park. This park offers a 2 mile walk around a grassy area over looking the vineyards and for the most part it is off leash! Our puppy quite enjoyed this and I would highly recommend this park for any traveller making their way through the area with their furry friend.

Fun place to go for a walk or a run. This is a very popular place if you have a dog since there is plenty of space for the dog to run and walk around. In some areas, the dogs need to have a leash. Regardless, you'll walk along private vineyards and can explore around the area for a few miles. Depending on your route, you may face some inclines which aren't bad. Free parking available.

It's a short moderate hike of about 3 miles roundtrip. To hike with them you need to plan ahead and make reservations. I booked my group of 4 about 3 weeks beforehand, but I've done it with only a few days notice. Meet the leader Chris, then we carpooled to a location she told us in Angwin. There wasn't much climbing, & only 2 rushing creeks that we had to cross - nobody fell in & I didn't even get my feet wet. That was nice. I was at the lower more dramatic falls to Linda Falls & was able to go down by following the pipe, then heading down. It was not too scary.
