This place is a nightmare for anyone who actually cares about their dog's safety and well-being…read more There's no grass anywhere--just weeds, dirt, and rocks. The atmosphere is chaotic, with rude and careless dog owners who don't supervise their poorly behaved dogs. On my recent visit, an older man sat on his phone while his dog continuously harassed mine, even though my dog was just trying to play fetch. Definitely not a safe or enjoyable environment. Would not recommend.

I still give it 4 stars though because it's not the parks fault, there isn't too much you can do about it. The people are friendly and 98% of the dogs are super well behaved as well... I was able to get my very skittish dog socialized to other dogs there & now he's great off leash! Really awesome!

I like Trancas Crossing Park (TCP), but my dog? He REALLY likes it…read more TCP is a nice, small park with a good walking loop that's a little over 1/2 a mile. It is an on-leash park, so don't plan on letting Rover rove. But the loop is flat, paved, and easy. There is some damage (you can see in photos) to the trail, but at this point it has been re-routed so it's an easy walk. The park itself is pleasant to walk through and take in the nature. There are signs around telling you what you're looking at, some historical info, and paths down to the river (including a kayak launch). What I like about this place - you can walk the pooch without the fear of foxtails that Alston creates. It's quiet, and not too busy, so if you have a crazy ass puppy (talking to my dog here), you can walk them without much fanfare. There's clean restrooms, dog waste bags, and even handicapped parking near the loop. A nice, quiet option that's dog friendly? Sign me up. Pro tip: it takes at least six loops to wear out a Labradoodle puppy.

I saw multiple people with their dogs on leash and one with their dogs off leash farther up the trail. As for the trail itself, it's nice but very muddy and lots of fresh Cow leftovers everywhere, so wear big boots and be prepared if you do bring your dog to wash them off them in the creek before you leave for you leave. I also noticed two homeless people camping near the creek close to where the outhouse is located. And I would not go near the outhouse it's not serviced by the city. As for the people on the trail most are friendly and actually talk and say hello... But I also bumped into a lot of younger city kids who were blaring their rap music while they were supposedly hiking to enjoy nature? Same people when you say hello completely ignore you and they keep walking. Typical Bay Area youth. That's why I would rather see dogs on trails instead of City people. At least they enjoy nature and most are friendly LOL

It's a beautiful hike filled with dense forest and streams. It's a fairly easy hike, well kept, with stairs at most of the steep paths, very narrow at spots and a lot of poison oak/Ivy off the sides of the path. Located on the Bartholomew Winery, a private park with hours from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM when the main gate gets locked (big sign). There is plenty of free parking. My friend and I walked the trail around 1:30 PM. on a Wednesday. We only saw one other hiker the whole time, so nice, so peaceful, we had the whole forest to ourselves. LOL there was a warning sign for Mountain Lions, we did not see or hear anything, only the birds and the stream. I would definitely recommend this trail and I would come back to walk it again.
