My friends and I came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and had a great time! We luckily didn't have to wait to find a seat, but it definitely got busier on our way out. Street parking is available in the area, but there is a decent sized paid parking lot nearby. We ended up all getting different types, but I ordered the chicken. The food is very flavorful, and it was a great experience trying this cuisine for the first time. Service was great and the staff were patient while we tried to decide what to order. You'll order at the front, and they'll give you a number they'll call later to pick up your food. When you're done, they ask you to throw it all away. They have a good-sized pizza-style box if you have leftovers you want to take home. This is a great restaurant I'll definitely be coming back to when in the area! I absolutely loved it. I got the adjaruli which is a sort of bread bowl with soft, curdy cheese, fresh melted butter, and an egg yolk. It was so damn good. The bread was very soft and fresh. They say all of their orders are cooked fresh by hand and I believe them. Freshly baked bread is a wonderful thing. It had a nice chew to it also. To eat it you break off pieces of bread and dunk it in the cheese, butter, egg yolk mixture. It's so much fun. The mixture is good. Nicely salted. Definitely coats your mouth but it isn't too much. Pretty creamy and luxurious. I enjoyed the novelty of this dish too. It's not the sort of thing where there are complex flavors going around. More of a comfort food the way mac n cheese or grilled cheese is. But sometimes that is just perfect. I've never had Georgian cuisine before, nor did I really know what a Khachapuri is. However Kenji Alt-Lopez had posted good things about this place, so when the opportunity arose to try it out, I jumped. I was pleasantly surprised! LOGISTICS A small storefront on the corner, pretty much everything here is self serve from utensils to water. Ordering is done via tablet and you pick it up when they call out your order. There is indoor seating but it would be limited for small groups - definitely better for smaller crowds. Although the storefront / environment may seem like fast food... it does take time for the food to come out, which they warn may take 15-30 minutes. Worth the wait for how hot and fresh they come out! FOOD Khachapuri is basically a bread boat with savory fillings. They come our piping hot... and the bread is delicious! I don't care for the crust on pizzas, but in this case I kept eating the bread to dip it into toppings. Since we came here roughly 1.5 hours before closing, so the chicken and stroganoff option were not available to order. Keep that in mind if you decide to come here for a late meal. Adjaruli Boat: Despite its simplicity, this was the better one between the two I got to sample. The cheese and yolk combo is heavenly - very savory and flavorful with a great running / gooey texture. Buttery too, but it never felt too greasy. I was amazed how good it was despite how simple it looked, and it went GREAT with the bread. Lobiani Boat: Since the chicken and stroganoff was out, I wanted an option that had a little protein. This was basically half Adjaruli and half topped with red beans, bacon, and banana peppers. The bacon was more like Canadian bacon to me and the beans were good (disclaimer, not a huge fan of beans) - but if I'm being honest, they were a little bland compared to the side with the Adjaruli filling of cheese and egg. If anything mixing it was a little worse since while it made the bean half more savory / tasty... it took away from the Adjaruli side. OVERALL Great food for the price paid, especially for the quality and flavor of what seems like a simple meal. At first I thought it wouldn't be filling given the size... but I forget how filling bread can be. I was very full and only really finished the filling part of the Lobiani and maybe half of the outer bread, Coming back to this review, I had no idea this was meant to be a breakfast / brunch food. It reminded me more of an exotic pizza, but more delicious and interesting to eat! I really want to come back to eat the Adjaruli... but to also try the chicken one.
