I love bike riding and I saw Skagit Cycle, so I went and I got my bike very fast, they have lots of bikes and all of them are good brands and the service is very fast, and easy so once you pick a bike you will be out within 5 minutes. My bike worked perfectly, it was fast, lightweight, and a perfect bike, even if I had to wait longer to get my bike, I still would have given it 5 stars, because my bike is PERFECT and I think that they have a amazing variety of bikes, and accessories this is over 5/5 stars it is 100/5 stars and probably over that. A few weeks ago I went down to the Outlets for a shop and stumbled upon this gem! We were looking for a cruiser bike and Spencer helps us find the one we wanted. With the exchange rate it's still a steal for the bike we decided on. We have since been back and it's always a blast to go in. Spencer is great to deal with and great for the laughs. They also allow a lay away plan for us cross-border shoppers. ***BUYER BEWARE*** IN MY OPINION, I WAS SCAMMED BY THIS BUSINESS I visited this shop recently and asked for a quote for a basic tune up for two VERY old bicycles and a new set of tires for one. The bikes are so old that they almost aren't worth it, and I mentioned this to the clerk. He quoted me: $298.58, out-the-door. Hesitantly, I decided to fork over the cash, as I don't have new bikes in my budget, currently. When dropping them off, I asked him to let me know if he noticed any safety issues on either of the bikes. I thought to myself that if he did find something, I would ask for a quote to get those repaired also and if it was too expensive to make it worth it - I would either do the work myself or perhaps just invest in a new bike(s). He agreed and I left. The shop never contacted me again until the bikes were finished. When I arrived to pick them up today, imagine my shock and horror when I was shown and informed that both bikes had more or less been completely rebuilt without my consent! New chains, an upgraded tune up package on the oldest bike, new sprockets, new cables, a new gear box, a new spoke, etc. The (new) total came to: $471.76 or $173.18 MORE than I was quoted via a printed quote!!! I immediately expressed my horror and disgust with the clerk, as I had NOT approved any of the upgrades. They never even called to discuss with me, they just did it. He laughed snidely, rolled his eyes, smirked and said that none of the parts were included in the tune-up. I responded that I didn't think I should be required to pay for something I didn't approve. He smirked again and said that he could probably 'try' and put all of the old parts back on if they still fit and weren't too broken to be RE-attached, if I left the bikes there for a few more days. (Mind you that none of the arts were broken when I dropped the bikes off, so if they were broken now, it would be because the shop broke them). At this point, all of my trust for the business gone - I just wanted my bikes back and to never deal with this place again. I was concerned they may purposely or carelessly break something if I had them RE-install the old parts and my families safety wasn't worth it to me. So, sick to my stomach, I paid him the full amount and informed him that I would NEVER be coming back. He smiled arrogantly and said. 'OK!' I'm not an attorney, but I have a feeling that what they did may not have even been legal. I will probably be discussing this with my attorney this week and going over possible options. It's the principal of the thing which bothers me most. I like dealing with honest people who have integrity. I feel completely scammed and taken advantage of by Skagit Cycles. Can you imagine if you took your clunker car into the shop for a tune up and then, without your approval or even discussing with you - the shop installed a new engine and transmission, billing you for all of that!?! My advice to you, my fellow consumer, is to avoid this business. read more

I recently bought an e-bike from Skagit Cycle. Service is very important to me and I can say without question that my overall experience has been excellent. Gary, the owner, loves bikes and was very helpful as I made my choice and purchase. I am glad I bought locally. Multiple people both in Anacortes and Burlington quickly dealt with any issues that came up with the new e-bike and I was treated with courtesy and respect each time I came in. The service folks at both the Anacortes and Burlington locations are excellent and knowledgeable. Recently returned to living on Whidbey Island. Since moving back in March 2013, I haven't found a better bike shop in the local area. I've visited both the Anacortes and Burlington locations, but prefer the selection at the latter. Great array of gear, good staff, competitive prices. I had to transform my Schwinn S96 mountain bike to a commuter and they had all the gear to do so. Hybrid tires, shoes covers, fenders, pants, and good lighting. All done in a couple of visits. Came in here to find new pedals for my road bike. I brought in my shoes to show what style I need and hoped to find something that could be put on my bike immediately. Unfortunately the gentleman helping us was more of a mountain bike rider and so I didn't end up getting the information I needed, nor the bike pedals. But he was very helpful and outlined the different options they had. Prices were on-par, to more expensive to what they are in Vancouver, as well. The shop overall is packed with bikes. They hang from the ceiling and are lined up in rows all throughout the store. There is no shortage of supply! They also have a collection of cycling clothing and all of the basics you need for any type of riding. We inquired about bike racks and while they do sell some, it was suggested we go to Racks and Beyond instead. Fabulous suggestion!! Awesome! Totally recommend this place for cross-border shopping and taking advantage of our great dollar now! Owner (Gary) is very friendly and knowledgeable - able to discuss the variety of cruisers similar in style to what I was looking for and advantages/disadvantages of those vs. comfort bikes, etc... The rest of the staff is okay, but definitely deal with Gary if you can - he's been great in the store and also with the minor gear issue on my bike after purchase. HUGE brand selection (Trek, Electra, Giant, Cannondale...) and location is convenient to get to off the I-5, with a nice area to test out the bikes nearby. I've been cruising around on my Electra cruiser from them this summer and couldn't be happier... saved over 25% from what the Vancouver Electra dealers were charging. I LOVE my girly Paris Hilton/Miley Cirus bike... it's so darn cute and comfy. Compliments galore and no regrets getting rid of my mountain bike for this! read more

My (front) brifter failed while out on tour. I stopped by Skagit Cycle Center just before closing in hopes they could rig up a solution for me. They were super helpful and fitted a friction shifter so I could use my full range of gears. I could not have asked for any better treatment. He looked at my bike right away confirmed that the front shifter was toast. I did not want to incur the cost and time to replace the brifter. A half-hour later, I road out with a friction shifter providing me full access to all my gears. The cost was minimal and it performed flawlessly for the remaining 10 days of my trip. I bought my bike from Skagit almost 4 years ago and had the drive train replaced last week. The work was done far quicker than I ever could have anticipated and the quality was superb. Besides having exceptional customer service, the best thing I can say about this shop is that will not over sell. Both the bike salesman and the mechanic spent a lot of time with me, answering my questions and making sure that I understood how my bike would fit my needs. Rock solid bike shop. My first experience was trying to buy replacement screws for a cleat and they refused to charge me. Always a good sign! Other stores will do a $5 limit or something crazy like that. My wife had her old road bike tuned up and overhauled here and they did it for very reasonable prices, didn't up sell and did a great job. This is now our bike shop of choice. You can also pick up maps of places to ride in the area, mountain and road. One suggestion to the owners: help out your employees and install a database and computer POS! I can't believe it's all paper. Who knows, maybe that's your secret. read more

Good size selection of Road, Mountain, BMX, and other specialty bikes. Lots of accessories and a bit of clothing as well. It is a full service shop and some of the staff are knowledgable. I have had a few issues were I felt like one of the staff had attitude and was being disrespectful. I only deal with the ones I like now. Must be a family business or something because one of the guys there is a total D-bag, and not just to me. Oh well. I really like the place other than my one issue, prices are about what you would expect, sometimes you can haggle for a discount. I would point anyone who asked about bicycles towards them. Great bike shop. My husband and I went to two other independent bike shops while shopping for bikes. Neither came even close to the selection and service we found at Skagit Cycle. Cody and his sales team are friendly and knowledgeable and the shop is stocked with bikes and accessories. We found the prices to be really reasonable (and, in the case of my bike which was on close-out, really fantastic) and had a fun time shopping each time we've been there. Highly recommend! My 11-year-olds bike had been "fixed" a little too much by him and was no longer able to shift, and I was looking for options besides buying him another bike. Walked into the store with it without an appointment and they spent about 10 minutes tuning it up and then it worked great. They even lubricated it, fixed the brakes, and made some other adjustments, and charged us under $10 for the entire thing . . . (They did mention if it was a more complicated repair that I'd have to bring it back in for an appointment) I appreciate it even more because my son's bike was not top of the line by any means, and they treated us like it was bought at their store. I had been shopping for my first road bike for a few months...we had gone to many bike shops only to have to wait an hour or longer for help. we decided to try skagit as we had heard good things from my brother. we live almost an hour and a half from them, but we made the trek. We were helped right away, there was ample staff, and we purchased my first road bike from Gary a year ago....due to the weather, I didnt get much ride time in. when we made the purchase he said i could get a free personalized fitting. a year later i finally scheduled it. Bernie did an amazing job giving me the one on one time that everyone SHOULD get when spending that kind of money. I will always make the drive back to them, and have since told everybody not to waste time at the local shops and make the trek. Disappointing and flaky service at Burlington location. Bought $350 in bike accessories from Skagit Cycle and simply wanted them to do the install. It should have taken no more than an hour to complete. Yet, after 2 full days, my bike had not been touched. The store is too small and too busy to properly meet customer needs.
