I have been doing business here for 20 + years and spend an average of 5 to 7 thousand dollars there per year. Because of there poor return policy on defective equipment I will now take my business elsewhere. And I encourage my friend, family, and the rest of the public to do the same.. Hopefully not taking back the 200 dollar defective Penn Real was worth losing a long time customer and this poor review... Buyer Be Ware!!!

They had walked upstairs thinking it was apart of the stores selection, upon seeing it was full of boxes they walked down and came back to look at the knives near the reels I was looking at. A man that worked at the store ended up approaching them soon after, asking them if they had gone upstairs. They answered yes and explained they hadn't seen the signage stating employees only until they came back down as it was poorly placed against the wall near the stairs and barely visable. He then insinuated they stole and made a show of saying he would check the cameras. Once I stepped in and said my children aren't thieves he then double down and said that they had cameras. I left infuriated leaving behind a 200 dollar purchase with a bad taste in my mouth, safe to say I will not be going back.

I was introduced to Skagit Arms by my partner's brother who is a law enforcement officer with the…read moreState of Washington. High praise for the store. I'm a bit shocked by the negative reviews, which -- frankly -- seem to come more from uninitiated people or lunatics who are afraid of inanimate objects. The selection of firearms is exceptional. Service is superlative. What I find very satisfying is that, unlike the sporting goods giants such as Sportsman's Warehouse where the people behind the counter are mere sales clerks, the people who work here are not only experienced, but they know their products very well. I began shooting 57 years ago in U.S. Air Force Basic Training, in one of the last groups that did marksmanship training during the Vietnam War; not only did I qualify for rifle, but my job at a SAC Command Post required that I qualify for pistol as well, shooting the Colt combat masterpiece, the 1911 Series 70. I've been teaching for about 46 years and have had certification as a pistol and rifle instructor. I've been trained in a number of military schools and been to three marksmanship academies that are the most highly rated in the U.S. Granted, I don't know everything about firearms -- but I know almost immediately when someone knows what they're talking about. What's more, I'm a facilitator and instructor who is an end-user of industrial psychology... and can smell BRAVO SIERRA readily... as noted on quite a few of the reviews posted for Skagit Arms. Not one of those I talked with tried to snow me about firearms, were rude, or were anything but polite and pleasant to talk with. I saw one "customer" asking about pistols "sweep" the store and its customers with a pistol -- a definite safety violation and no-no -- until the salesman stopped them almost immediately. Thankfully, the salesman didn't offer any other firearms to the individual who left in a huff. (I've been a Range Safety Officer for almost 9 years, and if this kid knew anything at all about firearm safety, I'll eat my hat. Yours, too.) And, if I may add, I think there were a number of individuals whom I believe may have been in the store to cause trouble -- including a number whose IDs failed to pass muster at the door. I'm NOT a Washington resident, but I have a Conceal Carry certificate from the State of Washington (which I've had since the 1970s): I usually show the certificate before handling a weapon. I closely watched every salesman in the store handle weapons, and they were all very well-trained, safety-conscious, and professional when it involved handling firearms. The store has an excellent selection and I will do some research on prices, quality, and track-record of the few firearms I'm interested in purchasing, as well as obtaining the FFL information from my local (Arizona) proprietor for transfer. Last of all, I appreciate the discount offered to this veteran. Well done, Skagit Arms.

We were not greated and seemed to annoy the, "Gentleman" that help us. When we told him the make and model of the Pistol, He gave us the, "Gun Snob" eye roll, he returned with the Pistol, didn't lock and clear it correctly, and actually handed it to my lady with the barrel pointed at her. No description of the Firearm, just a Short and unfriendly tone. We already knew about the weapon from our personal research and having nine handguns, all but four purchased from Skagit Arms, I will have say in all honesty I won't ever buy another Firearm or anything else from this business. The Staff that currently works there have ZERO understanding of Customer Service or retention of Customer's. Reminds of Gun Snob counter help at Kesselring's. Back then I told that staff maybe a daily dose of Metamucil to start their day maybe this will improve their general demeanor. Sad, I have purchased 2 Rifles, a Shotgun, 4 handguns and literally thousands of rounds of ammo and assorted accessories including knives. I suggest to anyone reading this to skip this place.

He clicked on any boxes required but once he was done paying for it, it charged him approximately $22.00 for mailing it to us. (We are only 6 or so miles from the business.) He tried calling the company and the phone rang several times and then hung up. We asked the gentleman at the shooting range and he told my husband to e-mail them to take care of the problem. My husband did so once we got home. This morning he finally got them on the phone. They had not looked at their e-mails (claim they are too busy) and so we are out the extra money for shipping. Not even an attempt to make a local patron happy. Word of mouth will most undoubtedly happen from this situation and he has a lot of friends that shoot.
