I really like how interactive and collabortative the environment feels. If you're looking for a creative outlet, ACN is a good option. They're expanding so maybe they will have more classes. The neat thing is that some of these courses can be used as credit towards your study if you're admitted into Art Center. Many people here use this as a springboard into Art Center.

But our daughter really enjoyed the classes. She went a total of 4 classes an hour in a half each and she made a total of 5 beautiful pastel paintings. Miss Amanda, is great with kids. She is nice friendly but can also be serious friendly when it comes to handling the kids. But she's never a mean serious. Thats something I liked because although they are there to have fun, they are also there to learn. She has a calm, gentle voice and I think that helps the kids focus and not get anxious. My daughter had so much fun going and she wants to go back. During the last 10 minutes of the class, they have an art showcase in which the teacher shows all kids and parents what they worked on and asks them what they liked most of their painting. I loved that! You drop of your child and come back 10 min before the class is over to pick them up. I would give them 5 starts but the monthly fee is higher than other places and thats the only downside. They are perhaps also better than other places. But I do believe their price should be a little more competitive. But in regards to the service and teaching, they get 5 stars from us.

Our son is naturally quiet and shy, but Mrs. Billy has helped him build confidence by encouraging him to express his own ideas and interests in his artwork and we can't thank her enough for how that has helped him come out of his shell in the classroom and beyond! Mrs. Billy also takes the time after class to update us and offer insights and constructive feedback on his creative growth. Based on our experience, I'd advise parents to take negative reviews with a grain of salt. All the teachers and staff here are genuinely so nice and unlike programs that focus mainly on copying pictures, Art/Work/Place balances technical skill building with creativity, imagination, and play. As someone who works as a designer in the gaming industry and has an art background, I can honestly say they're teaching kids the right way to learn art. It's a place where he receives careful supervision and instruction but it's also a place where he feels free to create and his style and quirks are appreciated. At the recommendation of his teacher at his elementary school, my son recently submitted a portfolio and completed a supervised exam to be considered for entry into a respected conservatory for students who show promise in the visual arts- this conservatory hosts this admission process once a year, so it's a big deal and there are a TON of kids and it's very competitive. The exam portion includes completing a still life and a free draw, both supervised. My son passed and is now under consideration. It's true he has some God-given talent and drive, but we could not have given our son the guidance that Art/Work/Place provided, and he had been attending this studio for about six/seven months by the time he submitted his portfolio. We actually didn't even tell Art/Work/Place or Ms Billy that our son was going to be doing this or submitting any kind of portfolio, so whatever they taught him they were teaching to other students and without prejudice. He went from drawing quirky and funny pictures at home to composing quite beautiful and sophisticated still life pieces, and I have been so impressed by how much more motivated my son is to really create on his own. Bottom line, my son loves this studio, it's one of his safe spaces, and Ms Billy has been so encouraging and so kind and enthusiastic, and she was so proud to hear about our son's accomplishment. Right now we just want to see how far he will go here. We really appreciate all they do.
