My children love the classes and camps at Art/Work/Place- it's always a good sign when I try to pick them up after a full day of camp but they wish they could stay and keep playing! The teachers here are incredible and create such a warm environment and sense of safety where children create and learn to their full capacities. I appreciate Ruby Hannan, Anayantzin Sanchez, and Billie Frolov who have all guided our kids in various classes & camps including Claymation, Make Your Own Stuffie, Mini Makers, and Youth Lessons. We've also been to some cool events here for children, our favorite being when they invited the animators from the new Ninja Turtles movie/Mitchell's Vs. the Machines to come talk to the students and show them people can become animators when they grow up! Truly an inspiring place where children come to explore and create their own art. So thankful to have found this studio! *also editing my review to add that I specialize in a field of child development & communication; I respectfully disagree with the parents below who claim this place is merely a bunch of babysitters or that their children didn't learn anything during their time here. I've been so impressed the way the educators here scaffold the summer camp in a way that the older kids are making Claymation videos or sewing stuffies alongside the younger ones. No one is so frustrated that they can't participate and at the same time these kids are challenged!! My children had increases in their artistic abilities, social skills, vocabulary, fine motor skills, ability to use technology to create art, and I would go so far as to say even their overall self esteem, as the final art show is truly a special time for families to come together and celebrate what these children have created with the guidance of some awesome instructors. Sorry, but I could go on! The only time I've ever seen the tv on at Art/Work/Place was during the gorgeous, hilarious, magical Claymation Camp viewing party a year ago and the time the Ninja Turtles animators used it to show us some clips from a movie they made. Again, context matters.... Let your kids give them a try and decide for yourself :)

This is what months of enrollment $$ got me.

It took.you 3 years to come up with this reply. Even with COVID, you should have been able to scrape up a refund. Using your receptionist to distract from the failed art lessons is a red herring, I never interacted with her. Yelp reviews do not determine the success or failure of your business, rather, how you treat your custimers. Whether you agree with them or not.

I moved to South Pasadena over the summer and once they were settled into school, I wanted to find a place for my two daughters (6th and 8th grade) to take art classes. A teacher at their school recommended art/work/place and we couldn't be happier! Margaret goes above and beyond when it comes to creating an amazing curriculum, staging student art exhibits (and publishing beautiful hardcover books to accompany them), and giving the kids goodie bags each holiday. The girls are looking forward to their first art show this spring! Here are some acrylic paintings and a pen and ink drawing that the girls did last month :)

Art/Work/Place might be the best art studio in LA. My son enjoys here, he and his teacher Miss Amanda have created many interesting and amazing paintings. We come here every week although we live far away, totally worth it. I also hope they will have clay classes in the near future.

They spend about 5 minutes going over some rules, and then it's just up to the kids to throw paint on the canvas. Before the class starts, the instructor gives a clear demo, and throughout the session, there are screens showing techniques step-by-step, so kids can comfortably follow along and adapt at their own pace. Nothing feels difficult or intimidating. The instructor quietly walks around, making sure each child has what they need and offering support without interrupting their creative flow. They're attentive, calm, and truly professional. The pricing is a bit on the higher side, but totally worth it for the quality of instruction and support. Check for promotions or deals. Overall, it's a relaxed, well-organized space where kids can enjoy creating freely and parents can feel at ease. We had such a great experience and would definitely come back

Huge shout out to him if he ever reads this review for being so kind to take me around, a random stranger helping another stranger. I've been to many art galleries and museums all over the world and was really impressed. Students here are super talented and I applaud your work and passion to pursue your talents. He had key card access to all the floors so if it weren't for him, I wouldn't have been able to see much. Was told that they do have public displays where you could purchase them. Free parking on campus and the exhibits close at 8pm. I had a fantastic time! Didn't take pictures of the student artwork since they were not for public display.

I've taken art classes at community colleges before and I do notice a differance in the level of information, communication, and style at Art Center. I took a design and composition class and really do feel I was stretched but not uncomfortably so. The information my teacher provided was well commicated, easy to understand, and most importantly I was able to understand the underlying concepts of what I was learning and apply it to real world design problems. I really like how interactive and collabortative the environment feels. If you're looking for a creative outlet, ACN is a good option. They're expanding so maybe they will have more classes. The neat thing is that some of these courses can be used as credit towards your study if you're admitted into Art Center. Many people here use this as a springboard into Art Center.

Maybe you just like comedy in general, or maybe you wanted to challenge yourself to do comedy in a language that isn't your native one. When you show up to class, you don't really know what to expect. The word "class" brings many weird associations to all of us. I was never good at school, so I didn't know how this particular type of school would work out. I'm just so, so insanely grateful now. Corey has been a phenomenal teacher. He just has this ability to find the funny in you. He has this ability to help you understand comedy and see it as a craft. He's a good listener. He has little to no ego. That's one of the many things that makes him so good. You're not just there to listen and take notes. You'll be on stage early, first in front of your fellow students and then in front of up to 120 people. Being on stage like that can be a life-changing experience. Even though you're expected to joke and be funny, don't treat the class as a joke. You soon realize how much work goes into being funny, and that a five-minute set can feel like an eternity. You're forced to cut things out. You're forced to make your jokes better and more direct, sort of similar to how you're forced to keep reading this review of mine. Don't wait until you've done an open mic first. Don't wait. Don't be scared that you're not funny enough. Just show up on Sunday at the oldest comedy club in LA and do your best.
