I just celebrated my birthday with a group of girlfriends and Aja was both our host and instructor. The process of book was seamless she gave all the information we needed and checked in all the way up till our booking. She was thoughtful and showed up early so we could use the kitchen and bar area to set up our appetizers and drinks. She set up the art stations while we drank and ate. Later she lead the class while also taking candid photos of our group. She took her time explaining the process and checking in to make sure we were all following along. Aja was fun and entertaining. She took various groups shots always paying great attention to detail. This was a wonderful experience and I would absolutely book again. We were the only party at the time, she laid out all the art to choose from. The space was clean and large enough to accommodate my 10 group and plenty of space to walk around. Such a great experience with Aja again! We booked her for my nephew's birthday and didn't realize she was the same art teacher we had a few years ago! I really enjoyed my time here for my first ever Paint and Sip session. My boyfriend made an appointment last minute, but they were able to accommodate us- Yay! It was a bit difficult to find since it was inside an apartment (a very nice one at that) in the middle of Pasadena. We came in five minutes late, but we had plenty of time to get situated (they provided the aprons, canvases, and wine glasses). However, I had a hard time finding a place for my wine bag (which I ended up sitting on). There was not as much room to move around as I expected since it was a full long table and we were inside the kitchen area. The smaller 8 x 11 canvas was perfect for beginner's. I thought I would not like the painting the group ended up voting on, but we chose one that I really liked (It was one of a beautiful pastel-isa sky in the background with two "love birds"). The artist (Aja) was a great teacher and went slow enough for us first-timers to catch up. I also got a bit flustered since I thought I made a mistake with the mountains, but she reassured me that it was fine. That made a big difference since I was being a perfectionist and it helped calm me down, haha. Overall, I had a wonderful time. Holy moly was this fun! We got a group of 22 women together for a fun evening of paint & pour and rented out the studio for the evening. We brought our own mini croissant sandwiches and cheese and crackers (which they let us set up on the table), and plenty of wine and non-alcoholic beverages. My girlfriend got a LivingSocial deal for this place and asked me last minute to join her paint night so I gave it a try. Not sure how much it was nor how much if you come without a deal. I was completely new to this so to break it down: - You can bring your own wine, but they'll charge you $5/person - This place is kinda small and hidden so you def would miss it if you don't look up directions ahead of time - With this place, you can bring in your own picture to paint or pick one at their place - The canvas size is 8x11, smaller than other paint night. Bring your own if you want bigger canvas? - Come 5 mins early to sign in with the lovely lady in front, that I did not get the name down since my friend did it for me - You'll start off with pencil in your picture, then paint the base and after that finish it off with the actual color of your picture For me, I personally did not enjoy it much cause one, I don't drink. Two, I'm not good at painting. I'm not sure if this place is good for beginners. You might wanna start off at other paint night where they all paint the same picture. Though I did like how we can pick out our own. We had two instructors but one of them could be the main one? They were split up to help certain one of us and I LOVEEE their attitude! As in helpful, I thought they did okay. I think they just didn't have time to specifically help each and everyone of us. And that's why I find it more helpful when everyone just paint the same picture. Thank you for helping me though! It was supposed to be 2 hours event but it took us almost 3 hours. I really enjoyed my experience at Eye Heart Art. I got a deal here through Groupon and I'm really glad I took advantage of the offer when I saw it. The only downside is the additional $7.95 required gratuity fee per person in addition to the paint session you are paying for, but it doesn't take away from the experience; it's just something I was not aware of. I love that this is a work loft. Walked in and the table was set up with everything we needed. It's also BYOB ;) which is great! At the beginning of class, we were given several paintings to choose from and it went by a vote. I really enjoyed the playlist she had on during the paint session - it got my mind into a creative state. The 2 hours flew by and there were many laughs shared in that space. The artist is super helpful and her pace is perfect! She gives you time to either catch up or ask questions and I appreciated that. She also offers classes for the kiddos! I came here last night with a group of girl friends and we had an amazing time! Aja and her assistant (sorry I cannot remember the second woman's name) were so incredibly helpful, fun and patient. They have everything set up for you when you arrive and they pop open your bottle of wine (BYOB) and pour you a glass to get you mellowed out to start painting. You can bring an object or item to paint yourself, they also have pictures and books you can select from as well. They give you guidance from start to finish and keep you on time. After seeing an article in the LA Times regarding "Free Art Classes" at this studio I decided to try my hand at creating an art piece. My mom and I went to this studio a few days ago for the Sip N Paint class and we loved it! We brought wine and chocolates, which definitely helped our creativity. Our teacher, Aja, was very sweet, encouraging, and amazing. She taught us a few basics that made it easier to understand how to approach a painting. So, I have to say that I have no artistic ability at all, and had really just wanted to bring my mom to paint while I drank some wine, but we both ended up creating beautiful little paintings! What a great night! We did the "BYOB Paint N Sip" (essentially paint night) for my sister's birthday and we had so much fun. I brought an image on my phone and everyone else chose an image from the Eye Heart Art collection. We brought our own wine and I don't believe we were charged any extra as mentioned in another review. Perhaps because this was located at Big Momma's Restaurant (??)...Idk, in any event they had the wine glasses ready for us to go as soon as we arrived! Aja (instructor) was very helpful and fun! She has a fantastic personality and is a great teacher! She's very patient as well, which is especially great for someone like me who sucks at art. As others have mentioned the canvas is smaller than I expected, but I'm glad it wasn't any bigger. They know what they're doing--it's the right size to finish a painting in 2 hours without feeling rushed. They also offered frames for $2.50 so you can walk out feeling like you really created a masterpiece! My sister said she will be back with her friends to do this again and I hope I can too! Also: I found this place on Groupon and I called BEFORE I purchased the Groupon and they honored the Groupon price at the event. SO supportive, encouraging, and able to help each person with their individual painting.
