Dr. Sitterle is nothing short of a sexist, fatphobic charlatan. He had the audacity to mansplain the importance of "fruits and veggies," and how I needed to stay away from carbs and sugars, while conveniently ignoring the fact that carbs and sugar are literally found in those very foods. How ironic! My husband went first and had a pretty normal eye exam, albeit rushed. When it was finally my turn, instead of focusing on my needs, I was subjected to a lecture about my diet. Clearly, he didn't bother to glance at my health history--if he had, he might have realized that my significant weight gain and recent 50 pound loss was due to a history of cancer & severe hormonal issue that is now being treated, not some misguided dietary choices. When I mentioned I was on a GLP-1 medication, his ignorance shone through; he didn't even recognize it. If a supposed medical professional can't grasp basic pharmacology, how can he possibly provide sound nutritional advice during an eye exam? His unsolicited "warnings" about the dangers of GLP-1 were not only condescending but also laced with a patronizing tone that he never once directed at my husband. It was painfully obvious that he felt the need to lecture me when my husband was out of earshot. My husband even noticed the shift in the doctor's tone when addressing me--it was dripping with condescension. If you're looking for an eye exam devoid of unsolicited, incorrect, and uninformed wellness advice, followed immediately by a thinly veiled pitch for an $80 supplement, then this is the place for you. You are not a medical doctor nor a nutritionist and do not need to take my blood pressure at an appointment and sell me supplements. Also, I have had multiple appointments canceled and not contacted about cancelation. Furthermore, when I order product, I never get notified of when it's in and have to call and check myself. We've come here a few years for my son's eye exams. It ALWAYS takes so long to get through an appointment. The nurses and front desk are friendly but Dr Sitterle is not friendly at all. I needed to find a new eye doctor for myself and my daughter, since my company changed vision insurance. I found Sitterle through my insurance carrier website. I checked out the Sitterle Vision Source website and everything seemed fine and acceptably professional. When I arrived this morning, I did notice a few pieces of art that promoted religion. I don't personally feel that a doctor's office is an appropriate place to promote religion, but I let it roll off my shoulders, as I am not easily offended by any religious paraphernalia. However, as my daughter and I waited to be seen, we noticed the religious music that was being played. We also kept noticing more and more religious art and paraphernalia. It was everywhere and extremely in our faces, even with manger figurines (and this is early September). We became extremely uncomfortable. So, I decided to cancel our appointments and leave. I will never have my daughter and myself elect to receive medical care when we are not at ease with the location and how that reflects on the discernment of whoever is in charge of the facility. If anyone chooses to go to a doctor office that has religious displays and music, that is completely fine. I support everyone's right to their own religious preferences and where they think they should be displaying them (again, I feel it is unprofessional to do so at a medial care facility, but that is my own opinion), but I recognize that everyone has that choice. What I really felt was absolutely NOT okay was that the Sitterle Vision Source website gave me no warning/reason to expect what I walked into today. If you want to display your religion in a doctor office, then it is reasonable to expect any of the pictures on your website or even one of the many religious text quotes you had on the wall, or something to indicate what to expect on the website, so that future patients aren't feeling blindsided and uncomfortable on their first visit. If I had any warning to expect this, I would have just respectfully decided it wasn't the best option for us and went about my business and found somewhere else. I feel both deceived and disturbed today, and for that reason, I am leaving a bad review. This shows an alarming lack of professionalism and awareness I expect in the medical field. read more

Came in for a glasses adjustment. I was told it was free but asked again if it costed anything. "It's free, unless Im nice". So because they offer a free service with purchases glasses and I don't pay for it (since it's free) I'm not nice? Yikes. Failed on customer service. I was very disappointed with the service at this location. I was the very first appointment in the morning and still had to wait over 45 minutes while I could hear the Dr and staff in the back. I pay for two vision plans and yet I still received a $35 "discounted" bill because they performed an additional scan. What they don't tell you is that the scan requires a pre-authorization (which they already know about) but they do not run. The office staff do not want to do their job. This is a scam...not to mention advertising of meal plans and supplements in the office. I really tried to give the benefit of the doubt but the lack of professionalism is not worth it. Pretest was thorough before seeing the eye doctor. My appt was with Dr. Sitterle. Mannerisms were somewhat cold during examination. Didn't really feel a warm welcome as a new patient. Yelp check-in gave me 50% off frames. I didn't need glasses, but a small script was given because my vision was somewhat blurry without despite my 20/20 vision. Glasses will be used mostly for night time driving. The frames they had available, to me, seemed somewhat limited unlike the larger eyewear stores. I did find some that I liked. Very unprofessional place!! Tall manager woman is rude every time I go in. Not to mention how she talks to customers and looks at them. I went in on a Friday and was waiting almost an hour to get help. Once I finally did get help I smelt alcohol on the workers breathe. Every employee I spoke to smelt like alcohol. One was so drunk I seen her run to the bathroom and all I hear is her vomiting from the bathroom!! Good to know the manager lets her workers get drunk on the clock! This place is fantastic. Dr. Maldonado and her staff were friendly, knowledgeable, punctual and very friendly. But what really makes this place stand out is that they inform people about the importance of diet and how it impacts our health and our vision. After the eye exam, they hand you a print-out that stresses the importance of a primarily plant-based diet. These reviews are not accurate at all, I've been a patient here for a 2 years. Everytime i've walked into the office there is a complaining patient. New hires are slow and know nothing other than how to walk someone into their room. Dr.Maldonado is very welcoming (the only reason i've stayed) but It took 1 time for me to be scheduled with Dr.SITTERLE for me to never come back again. Told me i didn't have common sense when i asked why my eyes felt so dry. I asked to try premium monthly's He said "No these" and tossed some random contacts on the counter then said the visit was easy and done. Very rude and cold. Seemed like he didn't care what was best for my eyes, just wanted me to purchase more the expensive contacts. Also had to leave work once to go in and try to order contacts because when i called to order i was either hung up on or no one answered. Okay...I'm blown away. I had to bring my 8 month old to this appointment and he can get impatient. Everyone was so helpful and kind. The staff said hello to me and my son. Even when he got fussy no one made us feel uncomfortable! The optometrist took her time and was very thorough with us. I was seen promptly. The only thing that took a while was when I was selecting my frames because there were so many cute options! Staff was great. This business is one that I desperately wish would work out for me. Doctors know their stuff and are always professional. My prescription was filled perfectly accurately; the optometrist asked all the right questions to get my contacts comfortably in my eyes. The location is great for anyone in the neighborhood, but the lack of selection of glasses and the feeling of inconveniencing office staff by giving them my business can't be shaken. Each interaction I have reassures me that my decision to go elsewhere next year is the right one. Lastly, the selling of a nutrition system at an eye doctor's office is bizarre to say the least. I usually don't have strong feelings about my optometrist visits but I REALLY liked this place! I had broken my glasses and my previous prescriptions were expired so I needed an appointment ASAP. They were able to accommodate me within a few days after I called. The front office staff were all helpful and I did not have to wait long to be seen. Dr. Maldonado was very approachable and knowledgeable. She gave me great advice about some new contact lenses, which arrived quickly after my appointment. I left with some sample contacts and everything I needed to get some new glasses. When I called a week later requesting an electronic prescription, I got that email the same afternoon. Health care portion is acceptable. Never had a problem with quality of annual checkups and information provided. BUT, the service for lens' and frames is very disappointing. They have shown a lack of quality control when releasing glasses with incorrect lenses to this patient. Have a tendency to blame the lab for items they were responsible for. This was my first time and unfortunately my last time here. The lady working at the front desk with the curly hair that checked me in and did the pre exam is the absolute worst, so rude! I walked in and said " Hi, I have" and was immediately cut off and was abruptly asked in a condescending tone "do you have an appointment" I was stunned, I literally just walked in and was about to say I have an appointment and she's already snapping at me!? I told her yes I have an appointment and she continued to be snippy with me when asking my name and time, ect. I just brushed it off and figured she was just in a hurry or something? Then this sweet boy behind the counter gave me paperwork and told me to fill it out, and was very polite! I waited about 25 mins to be called back to the pre exam where they do the air test and all that, and of course who's taking me back to do the test... her :/ I just shut my mouth and hardly spoke but she still had that tone the whole time. I'm sorry I don't know if that's her personality or she just didn't like my face but whatever it is she needs to get it together and realize she's in the customer service and that's part of her job is to be friendly to customers! Then the doctor comes in and he was okay, not very personable kind of quiet, just direct and to the point, I've had better, but oh well I got my prescription like I needed. Then I go out to the glasses area and the girl helping me with my frames was an absolute delight, very patient and informative. (she has long dark hair and glasses, you better hope she never quits because she's probably the only thing keeping customers coming back to this place) After that awful experience I was already in a bad mood and ready to get out of there asap, but she was so great that I decided maybe I could give this place one more chance, I chose a high end frame and paid for everything upfront. I was told I would receive them in two weeks. I waited and two weeks passed still haven't got a call or text that they were in? So I called to check on them to see what the hold up was? They said "oh they've been in, they got here about 5 days ago" are you kidding me!? I've been waiting! No one gave me a call, text, email, anything!? I could have had these 5 days ago! Yeah that was the last straw, my overall first experience with this place sucked. Rude staff, unorganized, long wait times, will definitely NEVER be going here again, and I suggest you find somewhere else, I now wish I would have read all the other 1 star reviews before going here and wasting my time and money with this business. read more
