My appointment was at 8:10 am on a Monday morning. The office did not even open its doors until 8:09 am. The staff was loudly talking how bad traffic was due to it raining I suspect to share the reason for the office being opened late. This isn't the first time either and rain wasn't a factor previously. Mind you everyone else is expected to be there in time - and all patients were by the way. I was not seen until 8:40 am...a full 30 minutes later with no patient in front of me. I can't even understand this as the lady who ended up attending me was assisting no one else before me. So let's get to this young lady assisting me. Don't get me wrong she was nice but new. New to the machines being used, new to proving instructions on when to blink. She needed to ask for help multiple times, she didn't know how to position the machine against my eye. It was a mess. I had to ask about the consent forms I was signing as she failed to mention there were out of pocket costs if the insurance didn't cover it. And these people weren't even mindful enough to try and make up for their own delays. Just getting the pictures of the eyes took 45 minutes. Then there were no rooms available to be seen an hour an 10 minutes after my original appointment. I was honestly at a loss. I have been here now multiple times due to eye dryness and TLC dropped the ball. I have to work too. I have somewhere to be too but there is just a complete disregard for other people, their own schedules and when TLC even schedules their appointments. Update: at 10:08 AM I went to the front desk as I still had not been seen. The doctor finally walked in said " I read your review and I'm firing you as a patient and you need to leave. I won't charge you but leave." I said OK and what about seeing someone else? He said " I don't care just leave." so I left everyone beware of this place after ruining my vision and pain. I had the lasik procedure done here around 2011, and while the procedure itself was fine, Im not happy with the long term results and the "lifetime warranty". A few years after the procedure, my eyesight started to get worse but it was still decent so I didn't really care. I continued to get annual eye exams as required by TLC to qualify for the "lifetime warranty" and figured if it gets worse, I'll just get it redone or whatever. Now my eyesight is pretty bad and, not only did I have to dig up all the past 10 years of documentation proving that I had annual exams, but when I finally got all that to them, they tell me there's now a "technology fee" of $2k. So basically, the "lifetime warranty" was extremely misleading. Now, since I live out of town, it would be more convenient to find someone local that will help me. And the costs everywhere else are pretty competitive, despite the "lifetime warranty/discount". My advice: do some shopping around, a lot of places now don't require annual eye exams and will give you an ACTUAL lifetime warranty without any surprise thousand dollar fees. read more

Despite telling my children that I have eyes in the back of my head, I suffer (as most humans do) from only having one pair. Nature in it's throw of the dice, mixed in with some genetics, decided to make me so near sighted that I wouldn't be above selling pencils from a coffee cup in dark sunglasses in a New York subway. It took me a good long while before I was ready to entrust my only set of optics to TLC in hopes to get them fixed. Starting with the initial consult, TLC takes you in to their establishment like Daddy Warbucks took in LIttle Orphan Annie. They walk you through the entire screening process making sure that you will in fact benefit from surgery. This is to say they will not take your money if they don't think they can help you. The treatment you get on the day of surgery is what every clinic and hospital should strive for. There's more hand holding, but also explanations of everything. If you find yourself asking "what's that" then you're not at TLC. I went in a month ago, and I'm out of glasses, out of contacts, and seeing 20/20. If you're considering laser eye surgery to move yourself up the survival of the fittest latter, or just want good vision with out corrective lenses, I would highly recommend you give them a call. read more

I went to TLC about 3 years ago to get my eyes fixed. I had done a good bit of research and though this company was going to be more expensive than some, I chose it because the 'lifetime guarantee' was reassuring; that I would be able to get the procedure done again if my eyesight degraded. Before the procedure, the 'lifetime guarantee' was repeated touted as something that sets them apart. So, when my eyesight got worse this year (only 3 years after the first procedure) I was irritated, but not overly concerned, after all I had a 'lifetime guarantee'... I went back to TLC for the preliminary exam and was shocked to be told that they wouldn't be able to correct my eyes any more because of the degree of correction they had to do in my first procedure. This was never even suggested before the first procedure. The person I spoke with said that she would speak with the doctor to make sure, but that if I didn't hear from her then he said no. So, they couldn't even give me the courtesy of a call back when denying the procedure! The way I see it, either they are lying through their teeth now or they were extremely dishonest 3 years ago when they said I would be able to take advantage of their 'lifetime guarantee'. Either way, would you want someone so dishonest and shady working on YOUR eyes? Seems like they are very good at wording their contracts so they can wriggle out of fulfilling their side of the terms. I would advise you to stay away. If you do decide to go here, make sure you get it in writing that you will be able to get the procedure done a second time or they will certainly try to slither their way out of the deal. read more

Very help and everything is great, until you have questions about warranty. The young woman running the payments and scheduling was a bit aggressive in response to my questions. My warranty was determined no long available. When asking if my corrective surgery would be, if I need another adjustment, It seemed as if I opened a bottle of the 5th degree. I thought it was a reasonable question. Guess not. It has only been 2 and half years until my eyes went down hill, I can barely see across the room, how much time will I get on a second surgery? When I asked about it the young woman made it seem like a stupid question,"I have never seen anyone come in after a corrective." And if i needed one they would not have any idea on how much it would cost. At this point I was done asking questions but if the corrective surgery is so good people don't come back afterward, why wasn't it done the 1st time? There is a stack of reasons I am disappointed in TLC and the response to my questions. On the top of my list is that now I feel uncomfortable going into this establishment period much less to have a laser in my eyes. read more

I went in February for a custom intralace bladeless Lasik operation and had an awesome experience! The staff was extremely friendly, provided superb service, and explained the whole process in detail including post surgery care. The surgery itself was less than 15mins. and pain free except for some minor pressure in the eye. They even gave me a teddy bear to hold onto for comfort. The day after the surgery my vision was cloudy and slightly blurry, but it's improving every day as expected. I rate TLC SA 20/10. Definitely recommend anyone who's thinking about Lasik to go to TLC. I had blade free intralase surgery done in April of 2014 and a year and a half later I still see 20/15. The staff at TLC are probably the nicest over staff of any business I've been to. They are communicative, friendly, and very accommodating. The Drs and their assistants are top notch and make the whole thing smooth and easy. I had a complication with my protective Eyewear the night after surgery which caused my left corneal flap to wrinkle. Since they only do intralase surgeries on Thursdays I had to wait a week to go back in for the fix. That week had given my eye time to form new epithelial cells on top of the wrinkles so they had to be scraped off and the flap smoothed back out. Following that procedure I experience TLS (transient light sensitivity) in that eye which was painful at least and almost debilitating at worst... Think 2 pairs of sunglasses even with the lights off. My regular optometrist didn't know what to make of it and so I went back to TLC. At my first visit back Dr. Guzman said that it looked like TLS and prescribed corticosteroids in a tapering dose. After I finished the 2 week steroid treatment everything was and has been just great! Once the eyes start to really heal ~2 weeks out you will be amazed with the change lasik can bring! read more

I had lasik done yesterday (04/27/17) and I still can't get over how awesome the experience was. The staff and doctors are really amazing and so sincere. The procedure was PAINLESS and lasted about 15-20 minutes. The only discomfort I had was during the ride home, which wasn't even that bad. When I arrived home, I took a long nap. When I woke up, all discomfort was gone. My eyes look normal (no redness) and I can see!! This was truly one of the best decisions I've made and an experience I will forever be grateful for. I am four days post op from cataract removal and I could not be happier. I can now see better than I remember seeing with my right eye. From my first visit, the crackerjack office staff made me feel comfortable and at home, readily answering questions and fully explaining everything. At the surgery center the nurses handled preparation easily despite handling an obviously heavy load. At no time did I feel rushed. The anesthesiologist was reassuring that he could handle any anxiety or discomfort, but I required no special intervention by him. The surgery took less than 15 minutes and left me feeling like I had a slight abrasion on my eyeball. Now, four days later, that is mostly gone. One day post op I was back at their office for routine follow up. Again the staff was super-friendly and helpful. I do not normally wax so enthusiastic about services, but these folks are pretty special. read more

Wonderful experience! I was so tired of wearing contacts and glasses for the past 10+ years but I was really worried and scared about getting LASIK. I read about all of the possible side effects and complications, and the whole idea of someone messing with my eyes really scared me! I looked at 5 different LASIK places in the San Antonio area and TLC was by far my favorite. It wasn't the cheapest, but the others were not up front about all of their costs and I didn't trust that it was current technology. Plus, they were not as friendly or as comfortable of an environment. Every single person at TLC was professional and friendly. From the very beginning, they told me exactly what they were doing and what to expect. They were one of the only places that seemed up front about everything: from the technology to the risks to the costs. They were very thorough and organized in every step, like giving me a list of the prescriptions I would need, including pictures and generic names, just so I knew exactly what I needed. Dr. Guzman was really nice and talked me through my specific risks and candidacy for LASIK. Caroline and Anastasia were awesome doing all of the tests and answering all of my many questions. TLC also have partner eye doctors in surrounding areas, so even though I don't live in San Antonio, I only had to go there for the consult and procedure! Everything else was done through phone/email and all of the follow up care is at my local eye doctor. On the day of the surgery, I was very, very nervous, even with my husband there to support me. Tamia got me all prepared and was really friendly. She made me feel comfortable and more at ease, even before the Valium. She was very thorough and made sure I had everything I needed for the procedure and after. Then I met with Dr. Alsheikh who checked my eyes and answered all of my questions. He didn't seem rushed or make me feel like my questions were stupid. The procedure itself lasted only a couple minutes and was painless. It was great having Caroline and Anastasia in the room. They made sure I was in the right position and was comfortable, put plenty of numbing drops in my eyes, and walked me through each step. They let me know exactly what was happening, how many more seconds were in each step, when to close my eyes, and what was going to happen next. I wouldn't say the procedure itself was a pleasant experience, but I was comfortable and less nervous since they were walking me through each step. Before I knew it, I was done and on my way home. I can only say that each person at TLC was so friendly, professional, and thorough that it really made me feel better. I was so thankful to have Anastasia there, from the very first consultation, to every phone call or email with all of my questions, to the actual procedure. I knew I'd have to really trust someone if I was going to get LASIK. I trusted TLC and I'm glad I did. I'm now a week out from surgery and seeing 20/15! I'm back to work and driving, am already seeing an improvement in the halos and dry-eyes, and I already love not having to worry about contacts. My optometrist recommended TLC Laser Eye Centers for a lasik consultation. I was told by my eye dr that they would contact me by email. After some time, I reached out to my dr to advise I had not heard from them. Only after bringing this to my personal eye dr's attention did i receive information via email I set up an appt for a consultation online. I was contacted a wk later to let me know what to expect when I attended my appt. A few days before my appt, I was called to let me know that the appt I had scheduled online was not available. I rescheduled my appt for 2 weeks later. I got a call a few days before my appt to let me know (again) what to expect when I attended my appt. I left work early to go to my consultation. As I fought with traffic to make it to the appt, I attempted to call the office to verify the location. The line was either constantly busy or rang numerous times without answer. I called the ph # I was contacted by only a few days earlier, which is apparently not a local number. They attempted to reach the office and were unsuccessful as well. I made it to my appt and only then was I told that they had been trying to get a hold of me...and I indicated that I had been trying to get ahold of them, only to be told their phone lines had been down for the last 2 days. (Well then, how in the world were they going to get a hold of me if their phone lines were down?). I took that as a sign that I should not do business with TLC and told the receptionist so. She was unfazed. Definitely not a professional way to conduct a business! read more

After skeptically contimplating LASIK for years, I finally decided to take the plunge. Am I ever glad I did and wishing I had it done a long time ago. My vision was extremely bad prior to the surgery, I now have 20/15 vision!! both eyes!! (no ladies, they couldn't give me x-rayed vision, lol) WOW!! I figured it was going to improve my vision some but I never thought to this extent. Even better....... it was completely painless, slight irritation in one eye for a few hours the day of the surgery; thats it!! Next morning, I drove myself into San Antonio for my follow-up with no complications. Thank you Dr's and staff at the San Antonio location for a great experience, excellent and very friendly service. But mainly, I thank GOD for guiding me to them and for guiding them during my entire 20 minute process. I go back in about a week for my one month follow-up, and as of today, I still have no complaints. Btw, I had heard that sometimes people end up with slight dry eye problems, which could be expected for the first couple of months. I can thankfully say that I really haven't even needed to use my drops but I do since they recommended to keep the eyes moist for the first few weeks. I highly recommend LASIK, especially at the TLC San Antonio location. read more
