The staff was considerate in asking us if our pup should stay with the smaller dogs or larger ones (we have a medium-sized doodle). We were sent links to photos of our pup sitting on a staff member's lap and hanging out with the other pups! Safe to say our pup enjoyed her stay and the staff was very caring and professional. :)

This post will be about the boarding since the classes were held at K9Cle, but are not K9Cle staff. Boarding is $40 a night, which is a great price for the reasons I state below. I left my fur baby, Remy here from a Thursday to a Sunday night. I am extremely picky about the care she receives and am just so happy to have found K9 Cle since they have passed all my tests: 1. Usability. The location is prime- near the water in the flats. Very accessible and a large parking lot. Virtually, they are also very available. Their website is super easy to use, saves pets' info and can be used to book, change and update a pets boarding stay. There are also other things that can be booked online like dog cabs, poop cleanups, day care, classes, baths, etc. 2. People friendliness. Too often animal people are not people people and it is hard to do business or relate to them! However, I have not had any issues in this area. Everyone is easy to talk to, attentive, helpful, great on the phone and polite. 3. Care. Remy, my dog, loves coming here. She is very shy and also 100% deaf, but K9 does great with her. I like that they do not treat her like a liability for being a rescue, a pitbull and deaf. They understand her special needs and allow her to socialize with dogs that are the right fit for her. They also do not have breed restrictions, which demonstrates their proactive care-based approach, rather than adopting faulty traditional stereotypes. 4. Gut feeling. I cannot place my finger on it, but I know K9 does a good job past these categories. Maybe it is the cool dance hall vibe they have for the dogs (with a disco ball!), maybe it's the fact that the dogs sleep in 'dog cottages' or maybe it's the realness of the employees. Last time when we picked up Rems, she was snuggling the employee, Larry, who was waiting for us. She just seemed so happy with him, which is not always the case with other people. He told us how well behaved she was and that they even went on a field trip (they have a doggy van that they use to take dogs for rides around the city), which just shows that K9 staff go the extra mile and treat our dogs like their own. They are creative and caring, which helps me be excited to leave her for long trips rather than be sad or worried. Very reliable and exceptionally talented at what they do.

Our dog Maisy is a 4 year old Papillon. We looked into training because of her reactivity to other…read moredogs and we wanted to eventually be able to go on walks with her without her having a meltdown. With her age, we knew training would not be a perfect fix and we just wanted to get to a manageable spot. We found Turning Point Dog Training through a Google search and reached out. Within a day or two (I think it was same day), we got a response from Andrea, one of their dog trainers. Andrea was very accommodating with scheduling as my partner and I both work full time. When we first met with her - we immediately felt comfortable. One thing that I noticed and really appreciated right off is that we were not rushed through an appointment. Andrea took her time with us and we even ended up staying over time. She easily could have said "oh times up" or "I have another appointment". But this showed me that they would take time with our dog. We ended up selecting a 3 week board and train as that is what we felt fit out life best at the moment. Again - we went in with expectations that Maisy may never be perfect, but we wanted manageable. We met up with Andrea for her midway session and then again for a public outing at 3pm in a local park (I never thought I would take Maisy to a busy park with lots of dogs at 3pm), and we were absolutely blown away. It was a night and day difference! Maisy was walking near dogs and not having a full freak out and was able to remain calm. We did have to correct some minor behaviors - but she's still learning and so are we! Those behaviors we corrected though were nothing like anything she did in the past that felt unmanageable. We get Maisy back today from our 3 week board and train and we can't wait to see how it goes integrating what she has learned and what we have learned into our everyday life. I will post another review after a couple of weeks and/or months for an update. But so far, we have had such a great and meaningful experience! Other things we enjoyed: They send daily photo updates so you are never left without seeing your pup! They also have around the clock care and have eyes on your dog almost all the time if not all the time. Maisy was in such good hands.

I have personally used the boarding for my whole crew over a holiday, and daycare numerous times and my dogs love it. I cannot recommend TPDT enough. If you are in Cleveland (or even remotely in the area) they are the best when it comes to training, pack walks, daycare, and boarding.

Teddy was completely unreceptive to my own attempts at training. As he grew larger and stronger, I knew that it was time to call in the professional. That is when Eric came into our lives and changed everything! Teddy was impossible to walk and was so forceful with me that I physically couldn't handle him. In addition, he would run full speed towards my young children - his 85 pounds knocking them down and eliciting tears and screams. Eric was absolutely incredible!!! Not only did Teddy immediately respond to him, but so did I. Eric taught Teddy in a patient, direct, and consistent way. He also taught me what to do, so that Teddy and I could work together effectively in his absence. Eric was also great at explaining the dog's nature and instincts, and why it makes sense to approach training in the way that the Lorenzo program does. My 4 and 7 year old are obsessed with Teddy and are excited to play with him every single day now that he is gentle. Walking him both on and off leash is a pleasure. The crazy dog that seemed to be too much to handle, is simply a joy now. He still has that spunky, goofy, lovable energy. The difference is that now, he has the ability to listen and respect me. Eric handled Teddy in such a caring and compassionate way. Teddy absolutely LOVES Eric and is always excited to see and work with him. His passion for animals is undeniable!!! It is this fondness that clearly drives his mission to help each family achieve their goals. For anyone considering using Lorenzo's Dog Training Team with Eric Beck, I urge you to begin! Your life will change in such a positive way - you will be able to enjoy your furry friend in the manner that you always hoped to! Thank you for everything, Eric!!!

I am very disappointed with my experience and feel that the training investment I made for my dog…read morehas not been fulfilled as promised. Jacob is very personable, knowledgeable, and clearly has experience with dog training. However, it has now been nearly a year since I enrolled in the training program, and only a fraction of the training I was originally promised has been completed. I paid over $1,000 for the program, and at this point, my dog has primarily learned basic commands such as "down," "stay," and not pulling on the leash. I was initially very happy with the training, but my concerns began when a prong collar was introduced and later transitioned to a shock collar. At our very first meeting, I specifically expressed that I was uncomfortable with the use of a shock collar and did not want one used on my dog. I was never informed that this would be necessary for her training. However, I later learned that it appeared to have been part of the intended training approach all along. Another major concern was that my dog became extremely fearful of the trainer. During sessions, she would often try to get away from him and was unable to focus or make meaningful progress. Interestingly, she would work very well with me when the trainer was not present. I communicated these concerns, but I did not feel that they were adequately addressed. I also became increasingly frustrated by the lack of communication. There were times when I felt that the trainer was avoiding contacting me, and sessions would only be scheduled after I reached out and expressed my concerns. We continued working on many of the same things during each session without seeing the progress I expected from the program. Eventually, I asked whether a partial refund would be possible because I felt the training was no longer progressing and that the trainer did not want to continue working with either me or my dog. During the conversation that followed, I was told that the trainer was hesitant to continue working with my dog because of her allergies and because she had previously required surgery to remove a cancerous mass. I understand that these may be valid concerns, but I was disappointed that this was not communicated to me earlier. It took me requesting a partial refund before I received an explanation for the lack of continued training. Since that conversation, I have not heard anything further from either the trainer or the company regarding my dog's training or how the situation would be resolved. Despite the training program not being completed, I have continued being charged. I do want to acknowledge that Jacob was initially helpful in working with me financially and adjusting the training price to make the program more affordable. I appreciated that accommodation. However, I feel that the discounted pricing should not be a reason for the training program to remain incomplete or for my concerns to go unresolved. Overall, I expected much more from this company. I paid for a training program with specific expectations, communicated my concerns throughout the process, and ultimately feel that I did not receive the services I was promised.

While I do trust the staff at Mutt-Hutt, I am a little disappointed with one thing in particular.... My Bailey (75lb German Short Haired Pointer) has stayed at the Mutt Hutt on several occasions. Both for day care and several overnight stays of both short and extended lengths. The advantage of this place is the cage free environment they offer. Bailey no longer sleeps in a crate at home so we thought it would be more comfortable for him to stay at a place that would allow him to socialize freely with the other dogs and at the end of the night, sleep on the hodge podge furniture throughout this house. The last time we picked him up, the staff said Bailey isn't allowed to stay overnight anymore. Ruh Roh! Apparently he "barks" too much. Huh? I could understand if he was aggressive, but he's not. At all. High energy, yes, but he's also the kindest, most gentle soul you'd ever meet. But he barks a tad too much according to the staff. That's like saying your child can't stay at day care anymore because your kid cries or talks too much. Nothing wrong with the kid. He plays well with others and is generally fun to be around, but he makes noise. What? Thanks anyways Mutt Hutt. We'll find somewhere else to take our pooch.
