Edit: They fixed the issue but only after I put up this review but not before two different sales associates misled me about the rules of their return policy when you buy from the Sitka store. You go from 1 to 2 stars, there are other brands that are made in Vietnam that you can get locally that work just fine!
From Their Website:
At SITKA Gear we believe in conducting our business according to the highest ethical standards. We strive to provide our customers with high-value products that enhance the quality of life and to improve the communities in which we work and live. We expect our employees to work with our suppliers, customers and other stakeholders with integrity, fairness and respect.
What I got:
As a small business owner in Montana I pride myself on keeping my dollar in my community. I go out of my way to support local companies, even if it means spending more money, because I know how important it is to support my fellow Montanans. In addition to owning a local business I am also an avid hunter and outdoorsman. With these two things in mind Sitka seemed like the perfect company for me to buy my hunting gear from. That is until I needed the "export support" you promise on your website. You see I made the honest mistake of buying a pair of $1000 waders in the wrong size. I excitedly tried them on before my first hunting trip of the season and realized there were too big and obviously wouldn't work. (We all know how important the right hunting clothes are when you're out hiking in the backcountry of Montana) But knowing Sitka's stance of "it works, guaranteed" I was expecting to exchange the pair for the right fit, and maybe have to pay a slight re-stocking fee, willingly so. I brought the pair of un-worn waders into the Bozeman retail store, excited to get the proper size. As I approached the sales rep in the Bozeman store they agreed they could tell the waders had not been worn and were still brand new - just missing the box and tags. I was abruptly told there was nothing they could do and that I should "try and sell them on the 2nd hand market and come back and buy a brand new pair." When I asked to speak with a manager to see if there was any type of compromise we could make the sales associate returned saying there was nothing they could do. Period. For a company who prides itself on "standing behind every product we make" you sure should think about investing in retail managers who are at least willing to speak to a (formerly) loyal customer. No matter how good your products may be your customer service is something you should be ashamed about. Maybe think of taking some of that $1000 you charge for hunting gear and investing it in people who actually give a shit about other Montanas spending their hard earned dollar with you. I was treated with neither the "integrity, fairness or respect" your website claims to treat it's customers with. read more
