Sit Means Sit literally changed my dogs life. I've got two dogs, Margot and Penny. They used to be best friends when they were puppy and got a long great, but as time went on the two girls started fighting more and more. What started out as stare downs from our little 15lbs Penny went on to becoming a emergency vet visit that ended with stitches in the neck from a nasty fight between the two. That's when we turned to Mike and his team back when they were called Top Notch Dog Training back in September of 2021. Mike took both dogs in and did a Bored and Train and had them for about 3 weeks. When we went to pick them both up they were still themselves but 100 times better! We couldn't believe what they were able to do in just the short 3 weeks. Margot and Penny were running around playing together which we hadn't seen happen in a very long time and they were happy! The happiest I had ever seen them. Months down the road and we are still shocked at the progress Margot and Penny have made. I never have to worry about them doing something bad or getting into fights (caused by them) or running off when off leash or nothing. We still continue to go to group training, as much a possible, that is offered by Mike and his team that is held weekly. And we try our best to follow Mikes advice when it comes to maintaining their training at home. Knowing what I know now, I only wish I would have gone to them sooner. My dogs are the happiest I've ever seen them, they are so obedient and friendly and they make being dog owners fun. I honestly believe dog training (especially from Sit Means Sit) is the best thing you could ever do for your Dogs, it's not just meant for the ones who need help.

Thanks for helping my parents pup out. Violet has been listening and with a little help from her training tools, she's become aware of going outside to do her duties, and she's cut back on charging at my cats. Granted we still have to use the tools that were given to her. Now if only you can train my mom? Lol

When Terri first came into our home I knew that we had met ~the one~. We had participated in a consultation with a Sit Means Sit representative in Las Vegas before we moved to the Reno area, but we weren't entirely sold, especially considering the price. But after meeting with Terri, we decided to take the plunge. Not only did Terri cater her training to our young (and very headstrong) husky, but she threw in our much older Miniature Schanuzer's training on the house, with the exception of the collar. Terri eased our concerns about the collar training itself, understanding our fear that we might lose our dogs' personalities once they transitioned into one of those more well-behaved uptown puppies... Not the case at all. They have maintained 100% of their playful personalities, except now they LISTEN.. and we no longer have to worry about their safety, or anyone else's. I can't tell you how amazing it feels to be able to go anywhere you want with a 2-year old Husky and know that she will pay attention and listen to you at any given moment, OFF LEASH. She has the freedom to do as she pleases, without me having to be concerned over her every move. Both my fiance and myself run miles with her through unknown neighborhoods and she stays close to us at all times - the freedom and happiness that it has given all of us, including our pup, has been truly life-changing. Terri successfully turned our terrorists into well-mannered and respectful members of our family. Not only did she take the time to learn each dog's needs and personality, and create specific lessons around those needs, but we could tell she genuinely cared about their well-being. I would recommend Sit Means Sit to anyone who has the patience and tenacity to follow through with the training... BUT, you must be willing to do so. You can not expect your dog to move mountains unless you are willing to as well. As Terri so adeptly put it - it is not the dog who really needs training, but the human.

I was very fortunate to have found sit means sit when I lived in Las Vegas. I had gone to another trainer and they charged me 600.00 did nothing to address my dogs problems. Then I found Sit Means Sit. I was very leary about using a training collar on my dog because I believed it was a shock collar. Then I tried it on myself. It did not shock me so I felt safe using this collar For my dog. If anyone has ever used a tens unit that is sold for people it works in the same way. I rarely ever had to increase the strength of the collar for my dog in training. It is true that different dogs react different to the level of attention you turn your collar up to. But what they feel is not painful it's more a vibration that they feel and when it is turned appropiately for your dog's training it can actually save your dog's life. Eventually I did not even have to use the collar on my dog because I had him so well trained . This was my handsome boy Ranger who I lost to cancer. Then 2 years ago I got another lab named him Tristan But at the same time I injured my knee. For some reason my Tristan did not train with me as well as my Ranger did Terri explained some dogs just have this block and it takes longer to get through to them. That was definitely my Tristan. Terri took my boy into the immersion program . She kept him.an extra week and promised she would keep him until he was ready to come home and she did not charge me anymore money to do this. My Tristan is the best behaved boy now and he is my service dog. He always comes when called and goes beyond when protecting me. I have a special harness for my Tristan so I can hold on to harness as it is my stability due to many falls I didn't have his harness on him one day for walk in desert. my other two puppies came on walk with us and I fell and couldn't get up just like the TV ad Being puppies my two little ones were jumping all over me wanting to play My Tristan immediately took control of situation. He made puppies back away from me and braced himself along side of me.He stood perfectly still so I could use his body and collar as a brace to get up My Tristan has had so many complements as he is a beautiful Boy and so well trained Everyone asks me if I trained him because he knows he is working when we go shopping and it shows . The credit for my Tristan's training goes to Terri at Sit Means Sit I have the best service dog and tell everyone if they want a dog like mine they need to call Terri. I feel blessed to have found such a warm and caring lover of Dogs. Who is also a master in teaching our fur babies and us how to discipline our babies to protect themselves and us. Thank you Terri ! I think I am bringing one of my puppies to you next as still can't have surgery. And thank you for being there for me when I call you about problems with my puppies.

Well behaved dogs, thanks to Terri and her staff

As a large pit mix I'd rescued, these issues were super demoralizing and we were scared Bo would someday hurt someone, despite our constant vigilance. Plus his world had gotten super small because I couldn't trust taking him to the places we used to hang in public. Anyway, after the meet and greet we went with a moderate board and train program. And then it didn't start as smoothly as we all hoped. Not because of their team, Bo was just more aggressive and reactive than he'd displayed during the meet and greet. Was it disappointing - absolutely, but most important was Stand Proud were having the difficult conversation with us about what Bo needed. We all came up with a plan that set Bo up for success, and they made sure it was something we were comfortable with. Since then, it's been a journey, but the results are remarkable and they've been so invested in his success. He's got a strong grasp on place and sit until released, and even off-leash skills and recall. He's also much more comfortable regulating himself and waiting for guidance when he's unsure. We're so much more confident and proud of the goofball. Thanks Stand proud team!

Taking him for a walk was a struggle as no amount of coaxing would keep him from pulling. The biggest problem was that his fear of other dogs would have him acting defensively. This often led him to him pulling us to the ground. Taking him for a walk was an ongoing challenge to which we adapted and accepted. After 4 years of living amicably with our other older bulldog, Vinnie began to be aggressive towards him. We were on the verge of turning him over to the Humane Society and then we found Danielle, Brandon and their team. The fee for their services and the length of time Vinnie would be away caused us to be reluctant to book their services. A few phone conversations and emails led us to an evaluation appointment at their home and facility in Fernly. Brandon and Danielle spent more than hour explaining everything to us. They both exhibited the qualities we look for in any professional. They presented their background explained their program clearly and simply, and answered all our questions. We had conserns about their training tools but were reassured with Brandon's detailed explanation. They have a large air conditioned kennel with spacious cages, large fenced in yard bordering a large open space. The staff we met were friendly. They were absolutely clear that their residential training is all about building a foundation and that success is dependent on how well we do our job as dog owners. We then observed one of local classes they provide all around Reno/Sparks. The trainer at the class exhibited all of the same qualities we saw in the owners. The dogs in the class were incredibly well behaved. We then booked a 4 week board and train program. When we picked up Vinnie, his behavior had improved 1,000%. Abby, his superb trainer spent 3 hours with us explaining what they did and walking us through what we needed to be doing moving forward. Brandon came by our house about a week later and spent over an hour with us answering our questions and reinforcing the guidance from Abby. Upon taking him home, he has not exhibited any aggression towards our other dog and our walks are more controlled and pleasant. With board and train you are able to attend classes for up to a year. We are excited to attend our first class with Vinnie soon. While we do not expect everything to be perfect, everyone's life has improved, We are grateful to the Stand Proud team and highly recommend them.

I couldn't be more pleased! Boris is a backyard bred corso I rescued and he has many of the temperament issues that go along with that such as overstimulation and reactivity. When we went to pick up Boris Trevor spent over an hour working with us to teach us how to better manage the behavior as well as go over what Boris had learned. One of the issues we were having was keeping him focused if an off leash dog was around, using the skills we were taught as well as what Boris had learned, when a dog approached us Boris ignored the dog and we were able to continue peacefully. What a pleasure to be able to enjoy a walk without having to be on alert! Complete game changer to be able to enjoy your dog. Now Boris is ready to go for the advanced CGC and we will surely be involving Trevor in that process.

We went onto do 3 levels of classes with him. Classes were hands down the best investment we made for him, and he went on to live a wonderful fear-free life. I attribute his high quality of life to his basic training classes and the time we put in when he was a puppy. He learned from a very young age how to settle and be calm in lots of different situations. He learned to trust our directions which kept him safe. Puppy social is in my opinion one of the best classes to put a young puppy in. They get to meet other dogs and people in a safe environment, and the puppies teach each other soft bite and learn how to be social. We recently brought a new puppy into our lives. I love the structure of Pjs classes where your puppy is with the same dogs for the 6-week duration. The happy little puppies can all see each other during the class at Pjs, no barriers (unless required to reduce stress of the pet). I like the scaffolding approach that PJs classes offer. You build the dogs' confidence and skills up in a logical way for them to learn. Plus, the puppies are all watching each other learn the same things. It's adorable. Our new puppy has done several levels of classes at Pjs' beautiful new facility in Sparks and HE LOVES IT. He just completed his AKC Canine Good Citizen, we can now consider therapy work down the road with him. He is so excited to get in the door for any play group I take him to and to his classes. We absolutely loved Rally O with Susie, she is amazing. We have referred Susie to friends with some rescues for consultations and they have been super happy. We will complete all the classes PJ dog training offers, because our dog just loves to learn, he really likes to use his brain. He exudes happiness when we get to class. Thank you, PJ and Susie, for helping us raise a happy confident dog yet again and offering such great classes. Highly recommend Pjs, they have so much experience and are CCPTD certified. They also give you time at the beginning of any class for a quick discussion on any "challenge areas". You learn so much to help you understand your dog's behavior. All classes use positive reinforcement. You learn to build a trusting relationship with your furry family members from a place of respect and love. The facility is always so clean, and they take excellent care in making sure your puppies are safe and not exposed to any bugs. We have never had any problems. 10 stars from us!!
