She decided to FaceTime me to see my state of emergency and assess (smart & effective on her part) & determine viability. I was able to go in, and she relaxed me by assuring they could handle my seemingly worst hair emergency. Now, the bad news is I paid $125 for my braids to start unraveling day 4. As she was braiding I was wondering if her straight-back method was the right method for how she'd cut my hair. Yet her confidence claimed I'd need to keep the braids for 2-3weeks then return for a refresh. They didn't even make it 1 week! Then, I call to address it & an admin or stylist says they don't do what I'm asking and essentially that was the only way the stylist could do my hair. I so hated the lack of concern for my hair and money, along with the brevity. I thought I was leaving with a new salon home. It was so free of dust, clean, & pretty. But, not sure it's going to satisfy my need. I still recommend though.

The appointment confirmation listed the time frame as 5:00-5:45 pm, but I decided to allot more than twice that amount of time to ensure that I would make it to my work event at 7:00 that evening. Unfortunately, the start time and timeframe given by the salon turned out to be meaningless. Although I arrived on time, after an initial check in, no one spoke to me for another 45 MINUTES. When I was finally able to speak with Aaliyah's assistant, I asked how long the process would take because I now needed to leave in about an hour. I was then told *for the first time* that all new clients who wanted a silk press needed to receive two preliminary treatments, which each had their own added cost and added 20-30 minute timeframes. As a result, the appointment would take several hours (and cost significantly more). The assistant claimed this information was on the website (more on that later). Needless to say, I could not get my hair done under those circumstances. Not only had the salon wasted my time but it had also left me scrambling to make my hair presentable for the plans I had that evening. Aaliyah may do great hair, I don't know. But this is no way to do business. People with appointments should not be waiting 45 minutes to be seen. And if you are requiring new clients to receive certain treatments in addition to what they have actually requested, state those requirements, timeframes, and costs openly and clearly. Don't bury vague language under a tab people may never even click on (see photos). This way your clients will know what they're signing up for and can plan accordingly.

Made an appointment for 9:30 and when I arrived, there was one young woman who introduced herself as Aaliyah, owner, stylist and style educator. We did a 15 minute consultation as promised and then ran through which treatments I would be receiving today. She's a young entrepreneur who sells her own homemade products and uses them on you as well. She did an anti breakage treatment, deep conditioning, trim and silk press. We hit it off and it felt nice to be privately attended to. Private meaning, this is an appointment based salon with one to one services. The salon in itself is beautiful. Black, gold and white. Very sparkly because, you know, girls lol. I loved it. I was very happy with my results because being mixed, my hair isn't easy to deal with. Never ran into a beautician who didn't mumble WTF at least once during my visit. I left very satisfied with moisturized hair cut into beautiful layers. My second appointment is already booked and I am grateful Yelp didn't steer me wrong. I've been looking for someone who not only cares about the style, but the health of my hair as well. I specifically booked a Botox treatment with Zoila, the owner of the salon, since her name was listed among other stylists in the booking app. However, when I arrived, although she greeted me and explained the different treatments, she did not actually perform the service. Instead, someone else with less experience handled it, and I could tell because they kept asking Zoila questions during the process. For the price of $447, I expected the service to be done by the professional I booked with, especially the salon owner. The final disappointment came with the haircut -- I requested a butterfly cut, which Zoila herself did, and unfortunately the results speak for themselves (see attached photos for transparency). Overall, I left feeling let down and frustrated. When you pay a premium price, you should receive the experience and expertise you booked for.

She's been braiding for decades, so she knows what she is doing. I came in for Senegalese twists, I have neck length natural hair, it cost me $125, with the hair included. It took her about 3.5 or 4 hours to do the twists, with a few short breaks in between, which I appreciate because I hate sitting forever. I got a ton of compliments on my hair, the twists look shiny and she did a decent job trimming the ends and making the twists looks smooth. There's another woman there who assists her, who toward the end came and helped finish. I appreciate that for the most part, she doesn't braid too tightly, however the caveat to that is that some of my twists at the nape of my neck and my "baby hair" area slipped out within a week. I had been pulling it up into different styles, which could have contributed but it's kind of embarrassing when your hair is on the floor. I think it just doesn't make sense to put twists on my baby hair in the front of my head, it just damages the edges, and slips out. But other than that, I just appreciate that I wasn't in pain the entire time. She had a Christian TV station or video playing the entire time, which I totally don't mind, and in fact, I appreciated. But toward the end it got annoying because the show shifted to some, racist, 45 supporter dialogue. Overall, I would definitely go back.
