    90s throwback asinine salon behavior! As a professional, who values efficiency and respects the time of fellow high-functioning individuals, my experience with Salon Femi has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows. Initially, when I embarked on my natural hair journey with Nia back in 2017, I was thrilled. She not only respected my time but also provided invaluable guidance and professionalism, particularly as I dealt with the challenge of thinning hair. However, the excitement took a nosedive in 2023 when I decided to go blonde and was informed that Kenya, the owner, would be handling my transformation due to her expertise in this area. What began as a promising partnership quickly turned into a series of disappointments and frustrations. Despite my specific instructions regarding my time constraints, appointments with Kenya routinely started late, causing disruptions to my schedule and forcing me to compromise on essential aspects of my salon experience. What's worse, the duration of these appointments skyrocketed, with each visit stretching to an average of 4 to 5 hours, a far cry from the efficient service I had come to expect. The final straw came during my last appointment when I was left waiting for over two hours (before getting into the chair), only to be met with unprofessional behavior and subpar service. When I made the appointment, I explicitly informed the reservationist that I do not require accommodation and do not want to be "fit in". I indicated that I would come in another day if necessary. I was CLEAR about my desire to have an actual appointment time! So, you can imagine, it was surprising to meet the owner's dismissive attitude towards my having waited hours prior to getting into the chair and her blatant indifference about the health of my hair during the bleaching process. Further, during my service, the owner had her own hair bleached. She then proceeded to flaunt that, "see, I washed my hair before bleaching... I am not afraid of bleach, cutting my hair, etc." She was now mocking me for asking about the health of my hair! This coupled with a blatant disregard for basic hygiene practices, when product dripped into my eye, left me feeling utterly disrespected and undervalued as a customer. To add insult to injury, the exorbitant charges on my bill, including a markup for services not rendered as promised, further underscored the lack of integrity within the establishment. When handed the red ticket (see attached) after (6 hours) it included: * $65 for "blow dry styling," but received a mold with about an inch of hair. * $125 for a "double process" bleach, which was literally just her adding a second coat of bleach to my one-inch hair and not actually taking the time to remove the bleach and reapply a "second process",. * AND FINALLY, the $65 "conditioner" is $55 more than the stated $10+ deep conditioner on the website. Again, my hair is 1 inch. HOW is this reasonable? In conclusion, while I had hoped to continue supporting Salon Femi, I can no longer in good conscience recommend it to fellow discerning individuals who prioritize quality and professionalism. It pains me to say this, but the owner's leadership sets a disappointing precedent that I cannot overlook. Don't waist your time or money!

    I want to give this woman above me #TammiFlava her flowers. She's been doing my hair for me since 2020 and even when I took a break and came back to her 2 years later she never seemed to fail me. Her hands are like magic. She executes every style I ask her to do for me. Let's not talk about the chill vibe you get while you're at the salon. I walk in feeling like an ugly duckling and leave feeling like a Queen. Here's to you .

    Wow. Just wow. Salon Femi was an amazing experience. Settling on a good salon can be like choosing two sides from a triangle. Either you get great results and quick service, but poor customer service. Or friendly staff and beautiful environment, with hair that leaves more to be desired. Salon Femi is a first. Awesome results, beautiful salon, ample parking, friendly happy staff, positive vibes, good timing, professional equipment. I came in with damaged natural hair, wanting to get a big chop that would allow me to begin again and still look cute :). My stylist was patient with me, took time to understand what I wanted, and made sure I was okay every step of the way. I learned that I had damaged by hair by wearing synthetic hair which harshly rubbed against my hair shaft. My stylist gave me advice for maintaining healthy hair. I am sold. Salon Femi, you have a new permanent customer! :D

    This was my first time visiting Salon Femi. My current hairdresser from another salon is unavailable, so I had to hunt for a new place for the first time in 15+ years. Needless to say I was very nervous. I am so glad I decided on this salon. My appointment was with Kenya, the owner, and she explained everything she was doing before she started to get my buy-in. She listened to what I wanted, and checked every step to make sure we were on the same page. The shop is immaculate, and they are COVID compliant. In and out in 2 hours flat. Beyond thrilled.

    I went in yesterday for the first time and I couldn't have had a better experience! The owner Kenya took her time with me and gave me a consultation for my hair. She gave me tips, suggestions, recommendations and actually taught me a few things about hair care so I can maintain healthy locs going forward.. I was extremely pleased with her demeanor... she then introduced me to my stylist KIM! let me tell you .... Kim is amazing ! I've never had a stylist give me exactly what I wanted when I wasn't even sure what I wanted. She is a hair genius and was able to transform my dead and broken ends into a beautiful layered bob cut ! She explained everything throughout the whole process and was SO PATIENT with me. She was EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL and never once seemed irritated about my anxiety ridden questions ( believe it or not MANY stylist can not so subtly give off an irritated vibe ). I was apprehensive about doing a shorter cut but she tailored it to my face and it's super cute. My hair now feels healthy and bouncy and wonderfully shiny ( she recommended a blue black rinse ) and honestly it made the whole look even better ! The ladies at salon Femi know what they are doing ! If you are lucky enough to get Kim you should trust her. You will not be disappointed. I can't wait to come back and get another silk wrap from her! My hair has never felt better ! Result: Severe skin damage requiring immediate medical attention, resulting in prolonged physical and professional inconvenience. During the service, I experienced clear indications of improper technique and negligent care: Excessive Heat: The applied beeswax felt excessively hot, indicating an improper temperature setting. Aggressive Removal: The removal of the wax sheet by the esthetician was noticeably aggressive and forceful. Immediate Pain & Acknowledgment: Immediately after the wax removal, I informed the esthetician, Treasure, that the areas above and between my eyebrows were extremely painful. Negligent Aftercare: I questioned whether a proper post-wax cleanser (such as rubbing alcohol) had been used. Treasure confirmed that "No" such cleanser was applied. I was only advised to use a generic ointment and Vitamin E oil. Upon returning home, the painful area above and between my eyebrows became severely red and inflamed. I subsequently confirmed that the skin in these blotches-on both sides above the brow and between the brows-had been physically lifted and removed (skin abrasion/burn). Current State of Injury: The damaged area has progressed from red to pink and is now a noticeable brown/hyperpigmented color. Permanent Damage: The injury to the skin, particularly above the left eyebrow, remains visible even after two professional consultations, indicating permanent damage and a high risk of long-term scarring. Personal and Professional Impact: I have been forced to stay indoors and rigorously avoid all sun exposure to prevent further hyperpigmentation. This has caused significant personal and professional inconvenience, including the cancellation of scheduled appointments. Initial In-Person Follow-Up: I returned to the salon to show the extent of the damage. I spoke with an employee named Emily, who confirmed the owner / manager was unavailable. Broken Financial Commitment: The business owner promised in written format to reimburse all current and future dermatology visit fees related to this injury. However, the owner failed to follow through on this commitment, and all subsequent attempts to contact them regarding payment have been ignored. Lack of Response to Third Party: I filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), but the business owner did not respond to the inquiry at all, demonstrating a profound lack of professionalism and accountability. This incident reflects a severe lapse in professional standards, commitment, and customer care. They didn't tell me it was expired while I was there, let me use half of it, then crossed out the expiration date and made it a date in expire 10/30/25. I was unaware they back-dated it because I was in a hurry to put it in my pocket since I was in rush. Fast forward to today, I went to use it and obviously it wasn't honored because of that new date. No one mentioned it was expired the first time I was there (which I would have been fine paying for my pedicure if someone explained that to me instead writing in a new date so couldn't use it again) Also I'm just not sure why they would give me back a gift certificate that I can't use anymore or never mention that it was expired. 2. What kind of place has a 1 week or 1 month expiration date? (Thinking about it I'm wondering if it the date a typo since it was handwritten because most places around here have a 1 year expiration date when I buy them or am gifted them.)
