My daughter wanted to dye her hair from brunette back to her natural blonde hair. But after…read morecarefully attempting to do it herself, she realized she needed a color correction specialist for fear that she would damage her hair. Unfortunately, our regular stylist was out of town, so I called Lotus after reading great reviews. When I called, I specifically asked if they had someone there who specialized in color correction. I sent pictures of my daughter's hair so they could see what the job entailed. The person I spoke with assured me they had a stylist who could do it and scheduled an appointment. I spoke to the stylist after she looked at her hair, and she said fixing it wouldn't be a problem because her hair was in excellent condition. She told me it would be okay to use bleach to go back to being blonde. I had no reason not to trust her. I'll share the photos of what this 'stylist' did to her hair after being in her chair for 6 hours. She left high-volume bleach on her head for 45 minutes under infrared heat. I didn't go to beauty/hair school, but even I knew that was a mistake. My daughter spoke up, but the stylist assured her that it would be fine. It was not. She destroyed her hair beyond recognition - it was fried, with clumps of hair falling out. The stylist had to cut off 6 inches of her hair from the damage she had done, and the color is something you could not even imagine. This girl was new and did not have the experience to take on color correction - a novice. Someone -- the owner or a senior stylist should have monitored this and stepped in to take over, but no one did. The photos speak volumes - 1) daughter's natural blonde color 2) her as a brunette 3) daughter's attempt at lightening it 4) Lotus stylist results I tried to contact owners before this review, but there wasn't a direct email for either of them. Furthermore, there was no attempt from anyone to contact me or apologize to her. Unbelievable. If this were my business, I would be mortified. I wish I could give zero stars, but unfortunately, it's not an option.

Asked for highlights and showed the owner a few photos of the color I wanted which was more towards the ashy blonde/light brown side and perhaps w/ pink or purple highlights. I was drawn to this salon because of the amazing pictures, so I did innately trust the owner who seemed to be extremely personable and professional to color my hair at least decently. Went home under natural light to find my hair color two shades darker and basically black with some barely there highlights behind my head that were inside my hair. Went to another hair salon ten days later to color correct, and the stylist literally said: "i don't get it, there are literally strands of white that haven't been dyed just like randomly put into the back of ur head". Felt like my hair was dyed on a whim, and she didn't really put much thought into if I liked it or not. I remember texting her to get a color adjustment before I took matters into my own hands-- she texted back once that she'd be willing to and then I never heard from her again after multiple attempts to reach out. It's funny cuz I would've dropped any amount of money just to get my desired result, and would've been a faithful repeat customer. The photos show the effect I wanted and what it turned out to be. I can't think of any other reason why they'd do this since they all seemed so nice, except that she thought she could get away with it.

Michael Azar Hair Salon - I went here to get highlights in my hair. They were booked, but the…read morereceptionist was able to accommodate me that very day. The salon is located in quaint little white house. It blended in so well with the residential houses that I almost passed it. I was nervous about parking, but they do have a gravel lot in the back of the salon to accommodate more clients. When I walked into the salon, I felt kind of fancy schmancy and thought to myself, I totally feel like Elle Woods right now. The clientele seemed like they got some moola in their pockets. The salon seemed really lively and conversations floweth left and right. Being Asian, I was really concerned with how the highlights were going to turn out. I was emphatic on not having any copper tinge to my highlights. The process took 1.5 hrs for a whole head highlight. My hairdresser was very thorough. It was considerate (and prudent) of her to ask me if I liked the color before she proceeded. I okayed it, even though it was difficult to tell what color it was due to the lighting in the back. I was happy with the results. I did not look too hoochi mama but you could definitely tell I have high lights. While I was there, the owner, M. Azar, stopped by and asked me how I was doing, assured me that my hair would look fantabulous, and checked up on me when I was finished. My hairdresser also offered me h2o in a champagne plastic cup (fancy (some sarcasm)). Overall I was very happy with the results. The price tag was $230 for full head highlight (170), blow-dry and style (30) and tip. Luckily, the net price was half that ( danke Scoutmob!). Even so, I cringed at the price. Oh well, I'll try anything at least once. I did feel a little fantabulous afterwards. One weird thing is they don't have a tip line on cc payments. So I had to tip in debit. One thing I did not approve of was the hairdresser basically stood there to see how much tip I was going to leave. Then she thought I wasn't going to leave a tip bc I didn't have any cash on me, so she had this grim expression on her face. Hold your horses lady, I tip! I don't think that's good etiquette.
