It has been NINE years, and I just keep coming back for more. I've said it once and I'll say it again. Kristin is the best, and she can do it all! I've seen her do the most beautiful rainbow colors, but don't forget Kristin is also a pro when it comes to a natural balayage. I love going to get my hair done in an atmosphere that is relaxing, inclusive and fun. My last haircut was the best one yet - and I get compliments on my color all the time...even when I think I am overdue for a visit to Sirens. For a long time I've toyed with the idea of getting pink or magenta streaks in my hair. I ordered some clip in extensions which looked good in my hair, but alas were too short to look real (I have really long hair) so I made the decision to go ahead and really get it done. I didn't want to do it myself because I had a hair disaster in high school when I attempted to bleach my hair myself, which resulted in a couple years of bad hair afterwards..... Unfortunately I decided to get magenta streaks on a Monday and it seemed like all salons are closed on Mondays....except for Sirens (yay!). I was also picky about which salon to go to and I didn't want to just go to any salon to get my hair dyed because I wanted an 'unnatural' color. I wanted a salon that specialized in 'weird' hair. I imagine that 'normal' salons don't get many requests for weird colors very often and I certainly didn't want to have a hair disaster that I paid for. Sirens seems like the perfect salon for my purposes....open on Monday and specializes in rock star hair! Pony was my stylist for the day and she was pretty awesome. I described to her how I wanted my hair and she delivered! I totally love the way it turned out. Before, during, and after the process she was very informative on how to keep the color vibrant, and what to expect with my color (i.e. how long it would last, what color it would fade to, etc. etc.) I'm definitely going back to get it touched up in a few weeks (and maybe to get a couple more streaks). read more

It was my first time going on to Sirens and months prior before going I knew this was the salon to go to because judging by the pictures they do the colors that are more outrageous ... I go in and everyone immediately greets me even the other clients they had were talking to me. Normally when people see a person in a wheelchair they don't really acknowledge them so when everyone was speaking to me and including me into conversations that really made me feel more comfortable being there. As far as the usual things people look for in a salon, they were clean and very helpful and really showed me that they care about each client they have. Shoutout to Robbie for doing a phenomenal job on my hair today. I love the color and the way he styled it. Like he really took his time and it came out PERFECT! I'm definitely coming back here again every time I think about changing my hair color. I highly recommend this place for anyone read more

Without Sirens' Kristin my life would be so dull! Well, that may be a bit extreme but my hair would definitely be dull. Kristin makes my hair fit my personality. Their prices are definitely lower than average in LA (and San Diego) for the color services provided. Love love LOVE! read more

Ugh. I hate to leave this review because I had so much fun and everyone was so nice but the color faded from my hair within 2 weeks of me getting it and paying a lot for it. I was told it was going to last for 4 months and it's already going back to blonde super light. So frustrated and disappointed :( read more

Ill try to make this short and sweet. I had an appointment today since i finally had the guts to take the plunge and color my hair a crazy color! I was thinking blue and a greenish color. Procedure: If you have dark hair like me, prepare to be here for a while. The process is long, but it is so worth it! Tommy first started out by parting my hair to see which parts were going to get bleached. He asked me if what he was doing was fine with me. I really appreciated this! Tommy worked on my hair and he made sure that every single strand of hair was in the right place. This is no exaggeration. I wanted 2 colors, so he ensured that the color placement would be nice.I could tell that he wanted to make it perfect, and it definitely shows in the finished look! Fast forward through bleaching and rinsing it off. It was time for coloring. Woohoo! One color at a time. I was getting really excited at this point. After color application and waiting for a bit, it was time to rinse. He took off the dye that went on my skin, as I was walking around, my hair touched my face haha. He then dried my hair to ensure that all of my hair that was bleached was covered. Then, done!! Atmosphere: Aside from Tommy, 2 other stylists were there, Kristin and Tea. They were all very welcoming and very kind. Parking: Street. There's tons of metered parking, so you should be fine. Overall, they really listen to you and have amazing suggestions if you have no idea what to do with your hair (my situation). I've only had the color for a couple hours, and I have already gotten compliments on how nice the color was done on my hair! I was surprised since even my mom, who isn't as open minded as I am, really liked it too! I cannot wait to get my hair colored again! :) Thinking of adding a splash of purple on there! read more

So I am one of those people who is hair bi polar. I change it from dark to light to every color in between ALL THE TIME. I tried going to a few salons, but they never gave me anything I hadn't done on myself already. I decided to treat myself on my birthday with a make over so I booked an appointment with Miss Teacup. holy crap. I am never going to anyone else for my crazy hair again. I gave her free reign to do whatever she wanted and ended up with magical mermaid hair. It was so magestic people would literally stop me to take pictures... this happened multiple times. The second time I went to Miss Tea I came in with EXTREMELY DAMAGED brown box dyed hair (oops). I asked her to do whatever she could knowing that the damage was too intense to do anything cool to it. Wrong. Once again I ended up with magical unicorn hair. I basically handed her a giant ball of damaged poop and asked her to make something and BOY DID SHE DELIVER. Now that's true hair talent!! Anyways, if you've ever wanted to look like those cool pinterest pictures of mermaid hair, GO TO SIRENS! I promise you won't be disappointed :) The only downside is that parking sucks on Sundays because of the farmer's market, so go early on Sundays. that's all! read more

Updated review. It's been three months. Alycia is hair miracle worker. My hair has come a long, long way. Before I met Alycia, my hair was burned, my scalp scarred, and breaking from another hair stylist's goof-up. Alycia babied and nurtured my hair back to health. And the real test - the second relaxer and hair cut - came out beautifully. I get compliments all the time on my hair. Thanks Alycia! I am super late with this review(so sorry!!)! I came in on a weekend to get a consultation and quote. Kristin was incredibly nice and listened to my ideas and dreams for what my hair could become. When I came back for my appointment I couldn't have been more impressed. I was a little nervous because I had never done anything this different with my hair. Kristin and Ryan were both very friendly and settled my nerves. Chatting didn't feel forced as it does in some places. The color came out AMAZING! Better than anything I could have imagined! And the way it has faded in a month and a half has been fantastic as well! I have been constantly complimented by strangers on my hair the whole time. I always make sure to tell them I got it done at Sirens! I can't wait until I'm ready to have something different done! read more

I have been getting my haircut by Ryan Hessberger for about six years now. I met him in Bakersfield and and have followed him since. Now matter what I ask him to do he always does a great job and is always excited about doing it. He is a genius with color too. It's right off of Melrose so there's lots of great lil shops around. Parking is a lil tricky but easy enough to find. Definitely a thumbs up. Thank you so much Ryan. See you in two weeks! read more

After a year and a half of jumping salons and being on the receiving end of harrowing hair from stylists and colorists who CLEARLY have no business working a chair, YELP turned me onto this little gem! Ryan worked his wizardry and transformed my unmanageable haircut and straw-like texture into a soft, sexy look. Im finally not afraid to leave my house without a hat or a ponytail. So happy to say that I've found my stylist for the long haul!! Shared a lot of laughs with the rest of the salon, and the prices were very reasonable. Ryan is a magician! read more

I have never committed to a hair salon in my entire life, until I came to Siren's Salon. I've had everyone there cut my hair and I have always been happy. However, when I discovered the hair stylings of London, I stayed with him alone. Not only is he a fun person to be around, he is also an amazing stylist and completely professional. I refer everyone I know to him and you should too! Anyone who says anything different is clearly an idiot. Go Sirens! -Brenda Colonna read more

Kristin contacted me and we came to an understanding. I also want this review to reflect that I was employed the entire time I was going to Sirens and still am. I had simply asked to skip the shampoo. Now, in retrospect, I feel I was cowed into changing my review for what was bad service for a repeat customer. It's very difficult to find a good, affordable hairstylist. Hack job bang trims and being at fault for not bringing a picture don't "cut" it. This review stands, as I have not and will not go back. read more

ISirens! It's where I get my hair done. Melrose is fun to visit before and after my appointments.

I love Sirens. I love everything about it. The changing artwork, the inviting blue and orange color scheme, and Kristin's always changing pink hair. I especially LOVE Meredith Lovegrove, who has been cutting my hair for over 10 years. My haircuts and color are always perfect, and I rarely have to provide more than 3 words on what I am looking for. Short. Bangs. Browns. And the result is always breathtaking. Thank goodness there is a finally a salon that I can go to for a great haircut with original people without it giving the impression that the hairdressers are too cool for school. Meredith... thanks for making me pretty time and time again!!! Love ya! read more

Let me start this review off with a question: have you ever gone to a salon ready for a change, hoping your stylist will be on board, only to get the exact same haircut, just shorter? Have you gone to a stylist with an edgy request, maybe you want to go hot pink or get an undercut, only to have your stylist politely tell you you don't actually want to do that? Have you ever gone in asking for something only to get decidedly Not That Thing? Then come to Sirens. Ever since my first appointment phone call this salon has been a source of catharsis. I've been trying to convince a stylist to give me a side shave for over a year, looking for a salon that was both edgy and professional enough to do a great job. The last salon I went to, which was sporting some really cool dye jobs and plenty of tattooed employees, ensured me that "oh, no, honey, you don't want to do that." After asking me what I wanted done on my visit at Sirens, I spluttered, "I don't know, maybe shave the side of my head, I'm just tired of looking like a normal human," fully expecting an "oh, okay, we can discuss that when you come in" sort of answer. Instead, I got such an enthusiastic response I can't post it on the internet. Immediately I knew I was going to like this place. The best part of Sirens isn't their enthusiasm to try WHATEVER you're into though. Well, that's half of it. The other half of the best part, is that they're really, REALLY good at it. I wanted to go white, which as anybody who's ever used bleach before can tell you is An Endeavor. We did two appointments, and my hair is as soft and healthy as ever. They use quality products and know the science backwards and forwards. My cut is also impeccable, and my transformation to magical unicorn rockstar is complete. Tea, Ryan, and Luna are the magicians responsible for my transformation, and I couldn't recommend them more. Oh yeah, that's the third half of the Best Part (my math is totally sound), the humans who work here are A+. Way to be the best, guys! read more

I finally made an appointment at Sirens. Mandy Jo took good care of me, adjusted my expectations for what I wanted, and left me with subtle blue ombre hair. She blew it out as well, even though I hadn't asked if I could schedule a blow out before going in. The place is small and cozy, and very reasonably priced. I'm really happy with the subtle ends and can't wait to come back! read more

This review is a little overdue as I have been loving, enjoying and receiving compliments on my new locks for about a month now. For my first visit to Sirens I saw Joy, when I called to make another appt. with her I found out she is no longer there so I got booked with London, and let me say WOWZA! He is just amazing, he took the time to get acquainted with my hair and how it grows and he really listened to what I wanted and then he did his wonders on the highlights and cut. And can I just tell you the scalp massage he gives, um yeah, I felt like I needed a cigarette afterwards. I have been a "salon slut" the past few years, not really settling down with one stylist, but I am finally ready to be committed to London! read more

Well, well, well. While living in Los Angeles last summer, I was dying to get my hair done at a REAL salon, not like the ones we have here in Cleveland. I looked up some fancy salons but all the prices were outrageous. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love to spoil my hair, but a girl has to eat! Low and behold I turned to Yelp! for some answers and found Sirens on N. Spalding and Melrose. I thought, "Alright. Good price. Cool visuals. Very rock 'n' roll. I'll check it out." I never went. I recently visited a friend that is now living in LA and I made an appointment. I prepared the receptionist by letting her know I had curly hair. She put me down for an appointment with Kristen. When I got to my hair appointment, Kristen was fantastic. Super nice, not uptight at all, made me feel really comfortable and beautiful (she told me I had fantastic curly hair). I felt right at home! She listened to my complaints, my likes and dislikes, what I wanted my hair to do and not do. She delivered a great hair cut with NO push to buy products or tools that I couldn't afford. The only problem I had was that I had suggested doing something new or crazy, but she didn't seem to want to do that to me. I'm always looking for a new look and I don't mind being a bit wild. She kept my hair safe which was wise, but a bit of a disappointment. If you're looking for some crazy extensions or a wild cut, DEFINITELY take yourself to Sirens. If you're looking for something new and fresh but aren't too sure, maybe do some research before you come in. read more

I went to Sirens the first time recently and LOVE it. Joy is the best, she is so sweet, funny, and talented. i'm a total mermaid now thanks to Sirens. Sirens - three expertly woven shades of green. by Tea Miller. - Hair Salons Near Me - Los Angeles, California

I came to Yelp to double check the salon's hours and just noticed my bestie wrote a review. We've both been dying our hair for decades (sorry if that ages us, Bree!) so when her colorist moved too far away and I moved too far from mine, I tried out Sirens, fell in love, and then gave the thumbs up to her. That's about the highest recommendation I can give, because I would not let someone touch her hair that I wouldn't let touch mine. We take hair color very seriously. Things I love about Sirens: - Pricing: You'd think a salon right off Melrose would cost an arm and a leg, but it's surprisingly affordable. - Creativity: They are game for almost anything! Bring in a picture, tell them what you're thinking of, they'll work with you to make your color dreams come true. - Honesty: That said, they're honest and realistic when it comes to what can be done with your hair. If you dyed your hair black with dye from Ralph's and decide you want lavender locks, they'll get you there-- but it'll take time, and they'll explain that. They'll also make sure your hair looks AWESOME during the transition to get to your goal color. This is something that many salons lack. Other salons promise results that just aren't possible, and then you walk out disappointed. What a bummer. That won't happen at Sirens! And if you ARE disappointed for whatever reason, just tell them. They'll make it right. - They're clients themselves: The stylists always test out new products and methods on themselves before they'd ever try it on a client. I love this. I also love that everyone there dyes their hair, so they know firsthand what works and what doesn't and what it's like to be in that salon chair. (I personally wouldn't trust anyone to bleach my hair who hasn't had theirs bleached.) P.S. I've been going to Tea for years now, and I can't believe the magic she works on my hair. We've done nearly every color and people are constantly surprised at how healthy my hair remains even with all that bleach! (By the way, I'm the girl with 9 different shots in one picture on this Yelp page, all of those were done by Tea. She is the best.) read more

If you have a difficult color correction and don't know where to turn, look no further! What can I say? This was hands down the best salon experience I have ever had. Kristin was AMAZING! I can't believe how great my hair looks, and trust me, it was NOT a simple job. When I came in, I had waist length hair that I had been bleaching and dying a deep shade of hot pink for the past 5 years with a brand of dye known for being difficult to get out. For my new job, I needed to get it to a "natural" shade of red. I was terrified that even if such a thing were possible, my hair would end up damaged, fried, and half the length. Other salons I talked to advised me to just go for a short pixie cut and completely bleach out the color, but since I HATE having short hair, that was a definite no-go. Not so at Siren's! Kristen was able to gently lift just enough color with a french cap, which is SO much less damaging than straight bleach, and paint on blend of new dyes that combined with the leftover pink PERFECTLY to make an awesome shade of natural red - Just "natural" enough for work, and just vibrant enough to make me feel like myself. With the conditioning treatment she added, my hair still feels silky and healthy, and she gave me a great cut to top it all off. After getting a bad cut at different salon in January where I walked out feeling like Barbie Spock, I've been scared to let anyone near my bangs since. She did a great job though - I've never had such a great bang trim before. They're just the right length, and cut in a way that's different from what I used to have, but WAY more flattering. Many thanks - I love my hair! After three years in LA I have finally found a salon I'll be sticking with. I'd give Kristin and Siren's 6 stars if I could. This is definitely the place to go for great color. read more

I love, love, love, LOVE Sirens! I've been enjoying all the countless benefits (good music, chill vibe, killer locks) for my entire LA life. I would never ever consider going anywhere else as long as Sirens and mermaid Kristin are still in the biz. I am absolutely over the moon for Kristin's mad skills. When I came to Sirens many, many moons ago my hair was fried, broken, and just plain tired. Since then it's been a long line of fantastic looks. Every time I leave Sirens, I tell Kristin that this time is my most FAV. She out does herself consistently each visit. I was not blessed with good hair naturally, it's fine and will not grow past my collarbones, but you'd never know it thanks to Kristin. I get compliments on my hair all the time. I really, really wanted to like this salon :( I was already blonde and just wanted a root touch up and to go a bit lighter. But when I left my roots were orange and my hair was blonde. MUCH more importantly... my hair broke off at the top of my head. It was about 2 inches long from the root. It had been fried off in more than one place. It was a disaster. Plus, the actual salon experience was horriffic. I went in in a hot day and they had no AC, so under the salon smock I was heavily sweating. The girl tried to put a fan on me, to cool me off, but the fan just made the bleach powder burn my eyes. It was so awful. I went back to ask for my money back once I saw the bald spot in the back of my head and the owner respectfully obliged. The owner was very sweet and understanding. but this is the best part.... when she looked at the transaction h istory to give me my money back she said "okay it was 100, here you go" when my hair stylist charged me 120 (plus i tipped her so not to be rude). So all in all- i was itchy sweaty and uncomfortable, then i lost my hair, then i learned this chick stiffed me outta 20 bucks. I didnt even tell the owner at this point.. i just wanted to leave. I wish i remembered her name because I say this truly with no malice... may she find another profession. I think the owner is probably a great stylist and I wish she had done my hair because since then I had to cut it all off from the damage. read more

Love this place! Sean gave me a great hair cut and made me feel very comfortable. Looking forward to getting some color done too next time!

it's been just under two weeks since having my hair colored at sirens and it looks like i'm going to need it redone already. it's faded into the lighter spectrum of purple, looking quite unnatural and not at all acceptable within a business environment. the only reason i got rid of my bright pink hair was to cultivate a more professional appearance in the corporate world and my purple-ish hair is not going to cut it. it's actually become a liability and it is not at all what i wanted, which was a more conservative, dark brownish/red that would be socially acceptable. it's unfortunate that sirens let me down here, their excellent reputation is what led me to choose them but, ultimately, i can't really add to the chorus of praise. it's also pretty painful that i'm now going to have to spend a lot more money at another salon in order to have a colorist fix my hair. read more

Sirens rocks! I've been coming here since January 2007 and I always get awesome hair. Kristen has made my hair platinum blonde, black, hot pink, purple, cut it, put extensions in it, given me dreadlocks... She can rock any style you can dream up. And Meredith does a killer job too. another overdue review :) for those of you that have or are considering getting dreadlocks, kristen's your woman! the first time i saw her, my dreads were newborn (done by a friend). she cleaned them up and got them in order. so worth it! second time: six month baby dreads with some that are almost completely locked and some that needed some surgery. whatever your situation, kristen will get your dreads in tip-top shape! the salon itself has an arty, rock-n-roll vibe. everyone that works there is super-cool, friendly, fun and unpretentious. kristen (i bow to my hair guru) is funny, easy to chat with, and most importantly, knows what she's doing! sirens ROCKS! :D read more

Spent way too much to have my hair fade back to what it was after two weeks. The hair salon is a bit outdated technology-wise and I wound up sweating the entire time I was in the chair. My stylist also kept leaving for smoke breaks during my process, as well. Overall, my hair was just "okay" and then faded back to what it was before. I had high hopes for this place but it was just a waste of my money. I know my hair was over-processed at the time, but I would have rather been turned away with some advice versus dropping $200+ for nothing. read more
