Went for the "SIP Wine Class Series: For The Love of Wine & Cheese." It was a fun experience. Met Cassandra, the owner, who helped me understand that wine involves personal taste. What tastes good to me, may not taste good to you. The thing that sticks with me most is her saying, "Just sip, taste and just ENJOY it. Good wine is whatever you like." The event was cool and relaxing. The vibe was totally chill. We had three wines paired with three cheeses and a dab of chipotle jam. I enjoyed the sweeter white wine (from the Lodi region of CA). The blue cheese paired nicely with it, and the jam added the most intense savory flavor. I learned that I'm definitely not a fan of the reds. What a gem! I'm so bummed I can't hang out at Sip right now because the interior is so cute and cozy, but am so stoked they are doing pick up orders. Always call before you come here. Their yelp specifically says they close at 11 pm and we came at 8 pm, it was CLOSED. I even emailed the owner letting her know I'm coming by for my bday event with a group of 15 and she confirmed with me few days before. That night I just couldn't believe it was closed. Thankfully Urge lounge was nearby. Never coming by again. I never had a business be completely closed way before their closing time. They should change their hours. This place is super cute and right off the main drag in Escondido. Parking nearby was super easy! The vibe inside is calm and laid back. Only a couple other groups in there when we visited. We met the owner who was very friendly and funny. I tried a couple of beers while my friend had a couple different glasses of wine. Food: we tried the medium cheese/ meat platter. a nice hefty selection of meat/ cheese/ jam/ fresh olives. definitely shareable between 3-4 people. Next time will give a try of their items. OKAY WHERE TO START!!!!? So my husband and I decided to take a spontaneous night out in Escondido, (oh so fancy)... and we walked down Grand Ave for a bit and then decided to go elsewhere... We were hesitant at first (there was a private party) but the owner, Cassandra, told us to come on in anyway, it is still open to the public. She was very welcoming, kind, and considerate of both parties. We browse through the menu and decided on the house moscato.. AMAZINGLY tasty, not too sweet, and just the right amount of subtle and soft on the tongue. We also ordered the cheese board which included a variety of cheese, grapes, bitchin sauce (A FAVE), and crackers. It was a nice little snack to go with the wine. The vibe of the place is very relaxing and warm. I love the simple decor and the open space. Just enough room to be close up with your loved one and still enough room to mingle if you wanted. The music is perfect. Not too loud or obnoxious, sets the mood right for a date night or a night out with the girls. Since my first visit, I've been back 2x and I will continue to do so. It's a great little gem in Escondido, and highly recommend for some quality time with your partner or a night out with friends. While I will say for a Friday evening they were out of a few things on the menu that I just happened to ask for. Aside from that, the staff was awesome, having fun with my rouwdy little group, they have a great selection of wines and a few good beers of course.... and they had a food truck out front, a DJ spinning some music to get the mood going and a great selection of board games and such to make it a great place to hang out. I want to warn anyone who visits that they may close before their listed hours. Came on a Saturday at 8PM, but they were closed when their hours state they close at 11PM. We came to celebrate a friend's birthday in which my friend confirmed with someone that we would come at 8PM. This was very disappointing and was an inconvenience as we had a group of 15 people and had to find somewhere else to go. I understand things happen where businesses have emergencies and have to close, however there was no emergency the person in charge just sent their employees home because it was slow. If that is the case I think they should have at least a one or two employees available in case someone stops by because that is very misleading to customers when your hours state one thing and you do the other. If you do plan on visiting I suggest calling before just to make sure they are open. read more
