I stopped using USPS at all after visiting Sip & Ship - this is such a different experience. The people are all friendly, knowledgeable and nice. They helped me ship internationally to places they had never shipped before and all the packages went through without any issues. I've since moved away from Ballard, but whenever I need to ship anything back home or to friends in Europe, I definitely still come here. I've used Sip and Ship in Ballard to ship quite a few things over the years and have always had a wonderful experience that has taken all of the hassle out of mailing things. They went above and beyond however in my last mailing experience! Diana was exceptionally helpful when a package I had sent to Australia was on the verge of being returned to me in Seattle just as I was moving out of the state. I cannot say enough about this place. I'm a freelance editor, and I've used them to print out a manuscript for me and ship it via UPS. Everyone there is extremely helpful and friendly. Plus, their prices are much better than their counterpart down the street, FedEx/Kinko's. What I really appreciate is the personal touches that they supply. In transferring my printout to a UPS box, they lovingly wrapped it in crisp brown paper like it was a present. When I asked how much the packing/wrapping would cost, they said it was part of the printing cost. Such courteous and complete service is such a relief after having to deal with the likes of FedEx/Kinko's and Staples over the years. If you're looking for a great neighborhood center for all your printing, shipping, and mailing needs, look no further. I thought this place will treat me better, I spent 40 minutes to this store trying to figure out which is the best way to send my husband's passport to Florida. The guy (maybe Jason) who was nice but apparently he doesn't know how the system work. My husband ended up rebooking his trip and paid additional $500.00 plus because the passport didn't make it on time. I called Sip & Ship to ask why their staff gave me the wrong information and they do not have answer but "he did not know how it works"in a condescending tone! Too bad because I love supporting local business but I guess they don't need more clients the way they treated me! They refunded my fee $58.00 but this is not about the monetary, it's all about being truthful to your customer and admit your mistake in a not condescending tone. read more

I love this place! You can get everything you need all in one spot! A great cup of coffee, a treat, ship your mom her birthday gift, get someone else a card....plus they have tons of nice, pretty little things to impulse buy :) Everyone is super nice, and they were really helpful when I was shipping a bunch of stuff from Seattle to California this Christmas. They assign you a personal contact for the product you ship, and that way you always have someone to help you out if a problem arises during shipment. read more

Nice folks all around. You can get your shipping done here and it's more pleasant than the dull shuffle at a post office. I also tried a latte and a scone. Coffee was decent and scone was tasty. Added bonus: it appears to also contain a mini gift store, full of cards and celebratory items one might mail off as a gift. Today I needed to fax an urgent document to Las Vegas. I went to Kinkos first, but was frustrated by their self-serve fax machine so I decided to head next store to Sip n Ship. The employees were very polite and the store is cute and cozy. After faxing my 15 pages it was time to pay. The total: 37 DOLLARS!!! Now I know many businesses charge obscene fees to fax documents, but over 2 dollars a page is just plain robbery. I'm kicking myself for not asking the price beforehand, but I assumed with a Kinkos next door it would be somewhat comparable. My advice is to post the fax prices where they are visible to customers and tell them the cost before sending the fax. read more

I didn't have the address with me of where I needed to send my package and Diana took down my payment info, added my latte to the invoice, and then let me call her with the address all on the honor system. This is a delightful little place. The staff is lovely and efficient. I've rarely had to wait to get my mailing done. The gifts and cards they carry are really cool. One thing though, and it may have just been a fluke: terrible latte. I mean, terrible. No matter where I go, I always order the same thing: double tall non-fat iced latte. I know exactly how the ratio of milk to espresso should taste and what it should look like in the plastic cup..yeah, I completely own my anal-retentiveness on this matter. The barista made me what was basically a beige cup of milk with ice in it. I figured she'd just forgot a shot, and asked her about it. She looked at me like I was brain damaged and said, "no, that's a double...just what you asked for." So, bad coffee with a side of snooty. Everyone I know loves the coffee here, however, so I'll probably give it another shot.....no pun intended. read more

This is my go to shop! I'm working for a small business so it's great that I can make copies, thank you cards, mail said cards, ship packages, pick up coffee and breakfast/lunch in one stop. They make very delicious classic deli sandwiches, so delicious I almost died eating their ham and swiss. They redid the entrance layout making it a much better in and out flow. There is an upstairs area for chillin with a play area for kids. There is also lounge chairs in front so you can chill and enjoy the local scene while you sip your coffee. One thing that really stands out to me is that the employees are almost always familiar. Most of the other cafes I've tried to frequent seem to have ridiculous turnovers making it hard to feel like an appreciated regular. Another thing is i'm really indecisive, but instead of standing there awkwardly the barista actually knows how to throw suggestions out there. read more

Great staff, awesome concept. I drink caffeine and mail things on a daily basis, so this is the place. The post office doesn't have these happy smiling faces (and attractive to boot!), Kinko's FedEx doesn't remember who I am or say "good morning", other local coffee shops don't offer a choice of spicy or sweet chai. AND they're totally stocked with amazing greeting cards, and perfect last-minute gifts (candles, frames, etc) when you're on the run. This is one of those dying breeds-- a locally owned gem with friendly, reliable, efficient service, and a keen eye for cool artsy stuff that isn't junk. read more

We walked in to look around at the store because it has a bunch of unique things in the window. I was on my way to a little tea shop so I never ordered anything, because it is clear that these guys specialize in coffee. After I walked the three blocks to the tea shop and found it to be closed I decided to come back here and try a Decaf mocha. After all, the sign in the window says "People love us on Yelp" so I figured I'd try it and give my two cents. Being a tiny little coffee shop, I thought it may be different and good. It was just ok. I hate to say it, but Starbucks down the street is actually better. I am not a huge fan of Starbucks, and I wanted this quaint little shop to be better, but it just wasn't. I am not sure how these guys stay in business with the giant S (Starbucks) only a couple blocks away. Good for them for surviving though, my beverage wasn't bad, it was just not as good as a huge box store coffee shop. What ever that means... read more

I love the fact that they have such great knicknack items from books, greeting cards, soaps and lotions. I like the idea that when I need to ship something, I can also grab a cup of coffee. This place is small, cozy and adorable but I had to take a star away due to the tasteless coffee. I'll continue to go to Sip and Ship but I'll avoid the coffee beverages from now on and stick to teas. Otherwise, this is a great neighborhood place to pop into. I love this shop...love, love, love. I stop in every couple of weeks to drop off mail and packages. The last two times I was in to mail things, they asked it I was going to order anything to drink, so while my packages were being prepped for shipping, my latte was being frothed and pulled and poured...no waiting in the cafe line! Such great customer service. My favorite is Mimi...she doted on my baby boy and held him while I was dealing with xmas gifts. He loved her so much he cried when she gave him back to me.
