I was craving Thai food on a Sunday night and Singha II was one of the only restaurants open around that time so my boyfriend and I decided to check it out. Being a huge fan of Thai food, I came with expectations. We ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and the Pork Fried Rice. Both were pretty decent - nothing too special and I have no complaints. It was flavorful and filling, but I have had better. I like how each person gets a personal salad (with either ginger or peanut dressing). Very refreshing before the entrees came out. Service is great. Our waitress was very attentive and the ambiance inside is really nice and clean. Will probably come back again and try other items! read more

Was in the area and decided to try this place during lunch time. Not a lot of Thai restaurants open on Saturday afternoon, so the fact that they were open was a plus, I guess...I was immediately served the free appetizer. It was creamy tomato soup - didn't look appetizing at all but decided to try one small sip... Unfortunately, the taste was as horrible as the look :( It tasted like tomato soup with coconut milk on it.... Creamy but not in a good way...Not sure if this is a Thai dish as I've never encountered it in any Thai restaurants before. I ordered the red curry with chicken. The rice was way over cooked, very mushy (seriously, how could you go wrong with the rice??) and was put on the same plate as the curry. Most places serve the rice in a separate bowl so you can decide how much rice you wanna have with your curry... So to me, this was a bit weird, but whatever... On to the curry, the vegetables were overcooked, there were few pieces of chicken... So, this was a bust as well... Decor felt outdated. Attentive server. OH. MY. GOSH. First timer and I will never be back. I had blanket shrimp which was actually decent. HOWEVER, my friend ordered Kung Pao Shrimp and proceeded to dress her dish with sweet and sour sauce. She noticed a blue substance after pouring the condiment in her rice - we opened the top of the container which revealed some sort of blue rust from lack of cleaning and over usage. GROSS! I started my meal with the crispy spring rolls, essential to begin any Thai meal, in my opinion. They were beautifully presented and had great flavor, although a bit greasy. The Red Curry Duck was, for the most part, divine. The pieces with the crispiest skin had good flavor, but may have been a bit overcooked and tough. The meat from the leg just fell off the bone. It was just delicious. The red curry was truly a taste of Thailand. I ordered medium heat, and it was perfectly spicy when combined with the rice. I absolutely loved the chopped tomato in the curry, but there was an overwhelming amount of basil that I had to work around as well as a pungent lemongrass flavor. This could just be personal preference, however. This dish was only barely short five stars! I will definitely be back to try other dishes on the menu. read more

This place was nice. It was very clean and was tighty. We arrived at the peak of dinner time and we were four of only....four people there. It was very quiet. The service was okay. Our waitress seemed to be wearing pajamas and a regular T-shirt. They were professional otherwise and prompt. The food was great. They weren't to heavy on the Cilantro which is the devil to most Thai places. The issue, besides the clothing of the server was the atmosphere and environment. There were fake cloth roses everywhere. The majority of the decor was really nice, authenticate Thai looking decor. But the fake roses? Really? Terrible. Also there was Italian music playing. Why? Why would that be okay in a Thai place? This is the best Thai place in the Triad. Service is friendly and fast. They are packed at lunch often, a great sign of a successful place given the many other options in the general area of 68/Wendover. The lunch itself is a great deal with large dishes between $6-8 that come with a delicious variety of soups and a spring roll. I have tried nearly all of the lunch entrees over the years and find the spicy noodle dish is the best but they have plenty of other options. Even better, unlike many Asian restaurants in the South, they actually know how to cook with Tofu! For dinner, the portions get larger and the selection remains extensive. Pad Kee Mao and Thai Eggplant dishes are delicious, with the thick noodle selection fitting the Pad Kee Mao perfectly. For those who can't take spicy dishes, the Yellow Curry is aromatic greatness. The House Ginger sauce for the salad that comes with dinner is a favorite of my family and one we often buy to take home for our own salads. I agree turning left into the complex they are in can be difficult at rush times but its relatively easy to just pull a U-turn closer to the medical center down Penny Rd. read more

This is a quiet little homey restaurant that we found when searching for something new, close to Jamestown. The people were very friendly, the atmosphere was nice with mostly jazz music playing. It was a bit loud, but we were still able to chat without having to raise our voices much. For an appetizer, we ordered the chicken satay. It arrived in short order. There were 4 skewers topped with a nice amount of delicious peanutty sauce. At first it seemed a bit sweet, but it was accompanied by a small dish of pickled onions and cucumbers that balanced the sweetness perfectly. The chicken was not as tender as it could have been, but it was still a very good dish. Our salads with ginger dressing arrived just a moment after. The iceberg lettuce was in pretty big chunks, which should have been smaller, but the dressing was so good it made up for it. We ordered a chicken pad Thai and a chicken mussaman curry for our entrees, which we split. They arrived before we could finish our appetizer or salad. The chicken was the same as in the skewers, so it was chewier than it should have been. The pad Thai was fairly standard but a little on the sweet side. The mussaman curry was mild, made with coconut milk, potatoes, carrot, onions and roasted peanuts. The sauce was fantastic. It was served with a good size scoop of rice, but not enough for the amount of sauce. When we boxed our leftovers, we asked if we could have some additional rice for the curry. It was $1 extra, which is not something we've run into before. With rice being incredibly inexpensive most places will just give you some extra to soak up the sauce. Overall, this was a really good dinner. If they had taken a bit more care with cooking the chicken and not charged extra for the scoop of rice, this would have been a 5 star review. Average at best. Spring rolls were not hot (and they are alway to hot to eat anywhere you go) so they must pre-make them for lunch as they are included with meal. Actually, I missed the soup and spring roll included with lunch on the menu, so I ordered Tom Yum soup and spring rolls as appetizer. The waited never said "hey, you do know you get soup (not Tom Yum) and rolls with your meal, right?!".. which any decent server would. I was with my wife and son who are Thai food junkies (me too). We all ordered different meals. Drunken Noodle, Panang Curry, and Pineapple fried rice. Meh to all of them. I've been here several times, and they improve each time I go. (That's fairly significant, considering how good it was the first time.) The waitstaff has always been VERY personable and knowledgeable. They are attentive, but not overbearing. The food, the last time I went, was plated beautifully! Each dish was its own work of art. We are (read were) a long time and loyal clients of Singha II, so it saddens me to say that the quality is not what it used to be. Recently, I had bought a Groupon, and the bleached girl that has worked there for ages, threw a huge fit when I was trying to claim it for take out, even though the Groupon had not mentioned any restrictions on take out. And it was accepted by the restaurant manager in the end without problems. Went in for lunch. Great atmosphere. Great pricing. Lunch special comes with a soup, which was chicken and rice today. My order came before I was done with my soup (which is a good thing in my book). Both the soup and Panang Curry came to me at perfect temperatures. The curry was just the right amount of spiciness and tasted absolutely amazing! My waiter actually asked if I wanted a spice tray (a side I have had to request for in every other Thai restaurant I've eaten at), I respectfully declined his offer as I continued clearing my plate. The good news, Kung Pao chicken is VERY tasty. I love the spring rolls. The food weirdly enough does make me extremly sleepy after eating it. I've only ever done take out. Once they got my order wrong, but i didn't have time on my lunch break to correct it, so I let it slide. They gave me cashew chicken, which was a little too salty. My other concern, is they charge a buck higher than what is shown on their lunch menu. But they do so pretty consistently, so I think they just haven't updated their lunch menus yet. They're close to my work, but far from my house. If i'm ever on this side of town in the evening, they're a definite stop for me! read more

Friendly wait staff! Delicious food and wonderful atmosphere captured with the dim lighting and soft jazz playing in the background. I had my traditional Massaman Curry. It is a coconut-based broth with sliced chicken breast served with onions, carrots, and potatoes. Often times it is served with a side of rice. Well, the broth was quite good; flavorful and smooth. The carrots were steamed to perfection and still had a slight crunch to them. The server offered me a spice tray where I sampled some fresh jalapeños alongside the meal. The wait staff came by several times to see how I was doing and if I needed anything. The serving size was quite large in comparison to most of my experiences in Thai restaurants, but no complaints here. It just provided me with more food to savor and enjoy. It has a very strong off taste like acid or old vegetable. They also used mostly frozen vegetables. If I wasn't sharing pineapple fried rice with 2 others, that would have gone back too. It was undercooked and wet. It had an overwhelming taste of uncooked egg. The toilet wouldn't flush and the underside of the table gave me a splinter through my pants. First time here, and I really enjoyed this place. The service was very friendly and helpful, (though they kept changing servers, which I know is sometimes a necessity in restaurants). The decor and lighting were nice. Menu, as with most Thai places, is vegetarian friendly, but if you avoid eggs be careful (more veg-friendly below). Got some spring rolls, and not only were they good, but they were by far the best presented spring rolls I've had! The salad was typical Thai side salad. Entree was their Mussaman curry with tofu, which, like the spring rolls, had good presentation. Very good. First time having Mussaman, and though I prefer spicier Thai food (which Mussaman in general is definitely not), it was still quite tasty. Price was slightly higher than the average Thai place, but only slightly, and well worth it for the quality of food and presentation. My only complaint is minor, somewhat vegetarian related, and can be said about many Thai places. While the quality is great, Singha 2 kind of has a sterotypical menu. They might have specials, but being a veg, these almost never apply to me. Its not a big problem with the entrees as there are many to choose from and veggies or tofu can be subbed for meat. But I would really like to see a veggie appetizer aside from spring rolls and fried tofu, or a salad aside from the House or Som Tom (papaya). Like I said I still have a lot of options, but these options are the same at 90% of the Thai places I've been to. But I quibble. Definitely recommended, especially if you live in High Point.. read more
