    Protein? In a vegetable dish?

Ordered a late dinner from Singapore Sam's through Skip the Dishes tonight. In one dish, Shanghai noodles with vegetables, there was an unexpected protein bonus we didn't intend to order. See pics below! I contacted Skip, and had a chat with their rep "Harman S." He graciously offered a refund on the single dish that was visibly infested. "Affected", I meant to say. I patiently explained that my wife and I were both grossed out to the point of vomiting, hence, we were put off our appetites. The meal was spoiled--perhaps he could understand why I requested a full refund on the dinner. Wouldn't do it! I added that even were we both hungry and motivated to eat the other dishes, we've both lost confidence in Singapore Sam. What other untold but unseen mysteries might there be lurking -- consequences of the same unsanitary conditions that allowed our little friend below to "get in on" our meal? He wouldn't help. Wouldn't budge any more than our little dead friend. Thank you, "Harman" -- for your unsatisfactory assistance. Thank you, Singapore Sam's. We won't be using either of your services again.

    Wonton Soup

Ordered Ginger Beer and Wonton Soup for delivery. Food arrived well package and warm! The portion size was huge - definitely designed to be shared dishes. The ginger beef was flavorful and crispy, and the wonton soup was delicious. My only complaint is that it didn't automatically come with steamed rice like you would except with most Asian take-out options. I'd give 4.5/5 if I could, but I'd say my overall experience was worth a full 5.

    Dry sesame chicken

Super poor service. I ordered the Sesame chicken with a side of pork rolls. There was no sauce for the rolls, then they provided sesame chicken by itself.. no rice or anything. I'm from the US where you get rice or veggies or something. Not just some dry chicken with sesame seeds. I can't find any sauce! You guessed right! We won't order again from here. Hopefully, husbands soup is better than my order.

Meh it was alright. I've had better Chinese food in Calgary but I've also had worse. We ordered the Ginger Beef, Salt and Pepper Prawns, Palace Chicken, Chicken Chow Mein, and Spring Rolls. The Ginger Beef was easily the best of the dishes. Salt and Pepper Prawns come in second. The Palace Chicken was awful and was loaded with gristle. The Chow Mein also wasn't up to par. I'm not too sure if I would order from here again but one thing they have going for them is that they're open extremely late for when the munchies may occur.

Chinese broccoli and two kinds of mushroom with satay sauce

This place was better than expected given some of the other reviews on here. Decent vegetarian selection here, so we decided to order a couple of dishes to share for take-out one night. The gai lan and mushroom dish was very tasty -- the satay sauce was on point. The tofu dish was decent too, though the sauce was on the sweet side, catering to the Western palate no doubt. Not very authentic, but it hit the spot. Bill came to $36 (with two orders of steamed rice) -- not too bad. OK spot in downtown Calgary for Chinese.

For drunken fun after a night out.... 4/5 For actual food enjoyment... 1/5 Okay so apparently even in my drunken stupor I could not get over how bad that food was.... this is possibly THE worst Chinese food I've ever had! Now sure.. I was drunk.... but that is normally accompanied by increased enjoyment of crappy food! The only good thing was that there was actually a decent amount of meat on the chicken wings. I can't say anything else good about the food here. So I'll just stop. Atmosphere on the other hand was awesome and tonnes of fun! A perfect place for dancing on chairs and drumming with your chopsticks.... think 80s and 90s dance music and classics with a party vibe and crappy food. By the way, the dancing and drumming is pretty much expected of you. Despite the bad food, this place was hella fun and quite the experience! You should experience it at least once.... never been anywhere quite like it!

Oh damn. Best Chinese food east of the Snake River. Bring your dancing shoes. Be prepared to dance the night away while you wait. Five stars does not do this place justice. Things are encouraged, and will get you to the front of the lin

Best Chinese food in Calgary. The service is top notch, friendly and attentive. The customer is the winner at this gem of a restaurant.

We had been eating overly heavy dinners over the past few days, so we decided to be relatively gentle with our order this time. Here is a breakdown of what we tried: Xiao Long Bao (小籠包 - Soup Dumplings): This is my daughter's favorite, so we ordered two baskets for her. They were executed beautifully. They were well-steamed on a clean sheet, and thankfully, there was no grayish blood seeping out of the meat. The wrapper (麵 皮) was right on the spot--not too hard or soft, not too thick or thin, and it didn't have that rubbery "chewing gum" or mushy "play dough" texture you get at lesser places. The pork filling tasted clean with no funky pork smell. Very nice. Beef and Tendon Noodle Soup: This was just okay, but to be fair, I don't expect a flawless bowl of beef noodle soup from a restaurant that doesn't strictly specialize in it (especially at a Dim Sum-focused spot). The broth was a bit plain and served lukewarm. The tendon, however, was well-cooked and well-marinated with a pleasant taste; it was a bit on the firmer side, which didn't bother me. The noodles were on the softer, sparser side rather than dense and chewy. I personally prefer a firmer noodle, but again, I can't complain too much given the venue. Spicy Tofu and Preserved Egg (麻辣皮蛋豆腐): I really liked this dish. The tofu had a fantastic, fresh soy taste, the preserved egg was delicious, and the chili oil and soy sauce dressing was perfectly balanced. If you are wondering what these "black eggs" are and feel a bit hesitant or concerned about trying them, I highly recommend giving them a shot here. This dish will easily fix those concerns! Overall, it was a great meal. I will definitely return, and next time we have the appetite, I'll dive deeper into the dishes they truly specialize in.

Ok so the food is super cheap.. BUT ALSO, THE FOOD WAS ACTUALLY IMPRESSIVE TOO???? NOT TOO OILY, NOT TOO SALTY, GOOD AMOUNT OF SPICY HEAT, fried food actually crunchy. I really appreciated all of the above. I know the food probably isn't healthy still, but I hate when restaurant food has a puddle of oil. The noodles were a bit stuck together because of the lack of oil. Maybe this is why the squid was so crunchy too? The guy serving us in the front said his mom was cooking in the back. She's like she really cares about her customers and making sure they eat a bit more healthy, and of course, tasty food. Each dish had a good mix of veg and meat. They are NOT stingy on meat or veg. We also got the mapo tofu and it was better than t&t. Again, another thing I liked was how the mapo tofu sauce wasn't loaded with starch. In fact, I don't think there was any (along with any sugar) because the sauce was all watery in texture. Flavour and spice was perfect. Something unique about it was that it had a bunch of green peas. I know some people don't like peas. Lol. Overall, this place is genuinely good which is surprising given the insanely low prices. The staff is really nice and chill. I highly reccomend this place for takeout if you're looking for something low-key at home. Ps. There's no seating inside. This is purely a Chinese takeout joint. They have chairs inside if you're waiting for your food.
