The pride of Calgary & the best Filipino dishes we've had in a long time! Thank you Lee, AteV, Jek and crew, and dear friend V for the recommendation. Round1 - After arrival at YYC, we drove straight to Bo Fiesta and had kare2, tulingan gata in banana leaves, menudo and lumpiang Shanghai - all 5*s - freshly cooked as you order. Of course with rice (lol), these are not salty nor greasy, the plating and presentation on point, and decent pricing. We had a non-Filipino in our group and she loved all esp the menudo. The Hospitable and very nice owners Lee ( with sister AteVilma) have us try the superb very tasty and crunchy Krispy Pata (their best seller) pancit bihon-mike, veg lumpia with ubod, capped with desserts halo-halo and turon with langka (jackfruit) and sorbetes. Ooohh la la! We were a party of 4, and all gave rave reviews and 5**; it was hard to pick one fave dish. All the dishes we tried are now favorites esp with the generous serving portions and decent pricing. BF as our first stop from YYC airport on a first time visit to Calgary didn't disappoint. We stayed for couple of days did our touristic rounds of Jasper, Banff, the Lakes & Calgary. Time to fly back to the US, and had to make another stop at BF en route to YYC. Lol can't get enough. This 2nd round, we had bangus sisig, pork sisig, palabok, fried and garlic rice. The dessert is the decadent Bilo bilo with ube halaya! Freshly made, all the ingredients are prepared in their own kitchen. Like the halo2, they make their own pang "mix", ie no store-bought OTC sweets laden with syrup. We love the tulingan gata sardines type (you can eat the bones) so much we ordered to go! Frozen and nicely packed leak proof (checked-in inside our suitcase ), it sailed thru the US customs with no hitch. The nice Filipiniana decor and ambiance, with karaoke nite on Friday and live band on Saturday is a treat. Love love your healthy live plants!!! Highly recommend!!! This is as close as you can get to the Barrio Fiesta back home, if not better. We're visiting here from LA and we're pleasantly surprised how this is much better than any of the locations in LA. We ordered Kinilaw na Kambing, Inihaw na Isaw, Bulalo and Flying Tilapia. We finished everything! If you are looking for authentic Filipino in Calgary, I highly recommend this place. This is a MUST. The sisig was awesome as well as the pork BBQ. Last time I ate Lomi was in the Philippines, their lomi tastes so good. The kare-kare was the best, it felt like you were in the Philippines. The meat was tender and the peanut sauce was thick with real peanuts. The turon and sans rival, a must have dessert. And the owner is so friendly. I had the lowest expectations for this restaurant BUT i was hugely mistaken. The food is amazing. I ordered sinigang na hipon ( shrimp sour soup) and lechon kawali ( deep fried pork). I can absolutely say their food is something to come back for, each time im in a business trip here in Calgary. The restaurant facade ( outside) is nothing extraordinary, but the interior has that local Philippine ambiance. Did i say their food was excellent? This coming from me who knows the kind of food they serve and from someone who loves to cook their kind of dishes. Also to top it all off, the staffs are very courteous and attends to my needs. Food taste great but too bad that the portion sizes for take out is barely enough for 2 people. Charging people $22 per dish is pure robbery. Never order from them on skip. So, I've lived nearby for years, and always noticed the restaurant, but never tried it even once. Decided to come try the place out for dinner on a whim, and was not disappointed. The prices spooked us initially, limiting some of our choices, but the server assured us that the portion sizes were enough to split between two, so we got an appetizer, entree, and dessert to split. Food tastes like home cooking. I have basically no experience with Filipino cuisine, so everything was a new experience for me. We ended up getting Filipino pork spring rolls, which were crispy and delicious. Very similar, but also different from Chinese or Vietnamese ones. The entree was their "Kare Kare," which was basically a peanut sauce beef stew with veggies. It's listed with tripe on the menu, which I was excited for, but we were told that they weren't allowed to serve tripe anymore. Seemed strange to me because every Vietnamese restaurant in town would be in trouble. It was good, but maybe a bit undersalted on its own. However, we were given fish paste to eat with it, that completely transformed the flavour and complemented the dish. For dessert we had the deep fried banana, jack fruit, and ice cream. To go we split a cake thing I can't remember the name of. It was moist, delicious, had some nuts in it, and I'd definitely go back to pick it up again. Overall, delicious food. The place is a bit dark and could use a makeover, but I'm not one to care about what a place looks like as long as the food is good and the kitchen and bathrooms are clean. read more

We are from LA and went here today for the first time. We were craving for Filipino food and this place didn't disappoint. We ordered sizzling pork sisig, bulalo and lechon kawali. Went here 2nd week of July. We spent a week in AB and this Filipino restaurant has one of the best ginataang bilo-bilo. It kept me and my group coming back. We went here for late night dinner and enjoyed the food and the ambiance. The owner is also very nice and friendly. She gave us tips on which nearby places to go to enjoy our week stay in Alberta. We have been ordering take out and have the Calderata, the Chicken Adobo, and the Pancit Canton.
