A decent experience here. We had a reservation at 6 and walked into an empty restaurant, which was concerning, but more people came in while we ate. The staff are incredibly friendly. I had the green curry, which was fine, but I have had better in many other places. My daughter ordered the vegetable fried rice, and when the server read the order back he said Pad Thai, and we corrected him...and she got tofu Pad Thai. She hates it when we have to say something when something goes wrong so she ate the Pad Thai, and you could tell while she didn't complain, she didn't love it. Wife had cashew chicken and ate every bite, and the teen boy had drunken noodles, which he devoured. Overall an okay experience, with some bumps. I'd give it a try again. read more

From the outside, this Thai spot looks small and unassuming, but once you step in, it's surprisingly spacious. The menu is extensive with plenty of options to choose from. We ordered three entrees: the chicken fried rice, the basil beef, and the drunken chicken. Just know that if you want rice, you must pay for it separately that's why we got fried rice. All the dishes were mild by default, but when we asked for heat, they brought out a cute little platter of hot sauces which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, while the service was friendly and attentive, the food itself was just average. Everything could've used a bit more seasoning and flavor punch. If you're looking for solid Thai food in a laid-back setting with good service, it's worth checking out, but don't expect to be blown away. read more

Lovely dinner here. The pad see ew was delicious, great portion size, and lots of vegetables. Fish and chicken cashew dish were also great. Dumplings and beef jerky were good starters. Server was very friendly and attentive. One con is that our main courses came out at different times. read more

Both the food and the service were very good. The ambiance is relaxing. Good to go with family or friends.

1. Excellent Authentic delicious Thai foods 5/5. We all enjoyed all 5 dishes. 2. Great customer service!!! Very friendly and kind. Asked us if we need anything else! 5/5. 3. A Very comfortable and clean ambiance restaurant. There was one chair needed to be replaced due to lack of balance. The waiter took away immediately and replaced with a new chair. 5/5 5. The price of the foods we ordered was very reasonable and worth every dollar for the foods and the service that we received. ### I visited this place 6years ago with my wife. They are even better. I strongly recommend this place! read more

I have been here several times and I honestly can't say enough about how great it is. The food is incredible, which is obviously the most important thing, however it is equaled by the service, ambiance and general friendliness of the staff. It's a truly exceptional dining experience. read more

Khao San Thai Kitchen - Pad Thai, yellow curry, mixed veg ... garden delight? All delicious! - Thai Near Me - Calgary, Alberta

Most of the time this place is great, but every 5th order something is off and all the dishes taste blander and more similar to each other. We do keep ordering from here because when they're good they're very good (shout out to the lovely non-greasy veggie spring rolls!), but I just wish there was more consistency. read more

On a recent trip to Calgary, we decided to check it out because our original choice of restaurant had a long wait. We got lucky and found Khao San Thai Kitchen! The service was excellent, the drinks were amazing (I got the Ceasar), and the food was terrific! We ordered the Red Curry with Chicken, Sam Rod Basa, Pad See Ew (with Chicken), and Sticky Rice. We had Mango Sticky Rice topped with a drizzle of coconut milk for dessert. They were family-friendly, and the interior was beautifully decorated with intricate detail. I can't wait to go back! read more

This is easily hands down our favourite restaurant, and best Thai restaurant we've ever eaten ate. And we've eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants. We are regulars and the owners know us. We've recently moved to the states and are a little bit desperate to find a Thai restaurant that even approaches this place. The Penang Curry, Green Curry , the Sweet and Sour Basa and Fried Rice are all fantastic. All full of flavour. The food here is always consistently good and they make a great Singapore sling. All the appetizers are great with the flower dumplings (Moo Ping ?) my favourite. We always double our order so we can have some the next day. Really miss this place read more

We happened upon Khao San one Saturday evening without reservations and were graciously seated by the host. Our meal of Fried Tofu, Green Curry and Charred Noodles with Stir Fried Vegetables was excellent. The service was prompt and friendly. Even though the restaurant was nearly full, it wasn't super noisy like it would have been back home in the US. The prices were quite fair. My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Khao San. Definitely recommend!! read more

Great food!! My go to Thai restaurant always! Excellent service! Great location and ambiance.

Great service, not a lot of vegan options. The curries, papaya salad etc. all contain shrimp paste. They tried their best to accommodate us however. It had great reviews so likely a great place to dine if you're not vegan/vegetarian. read more

Great food and great service- their sticky rice with Mango was so good. The decor was lovely and the staff were so attentive and kind.

My favorite restaurant from my vacation! The restaurant was very nicely decorated and had a wonderful ambience. The servers were friendly and the service was fast, but most importantly the food was spectacular. The curry was probably some of the best that I've ever had, and the other dishes were delicious as well. I definitely hope to go back here sometime! read more

Best Thai in Calgary! Beautiful restaurant with very friendly staff. I like it spicy and they lived up to it! My dad got the beef short ribs in masaman and the meat fell of the bone. The soup is a solid 9.2/10. I got the Khao soi Gai and it was amazing!!! I give this place 5 stars for sure. read more

Best Thai food in Calgary. Live the Basil Beef, Pad Thai and Curry Chicken - fresh ingredients. Excellent and friendly service!

This place is so incredible! One of the best Thai restaurants in Calgary. The food is amazing and the staff are so incredibly sweet. I have been going here for years and it's consistently awesome! My fav is the red pineapple curry with coconut rice! Def recommend! read more

A very good place for Thai food. The quality of the food is very good and the staff is very helpful. Making reservations is recommended because it's a small place and you may not be able to get a table when it's busy. I have gone there two times without reservation and couldn't get in. During the week without reservations should be fine since they're not that busy then. I'll go back there again. read more

The food was absolutely fantastic, presentation went above and beyond. Definitely will be coming back.

Very nice restaurant - it is small with limited seating. We ordered the salad rolls to start - these rolls are very large with very tasty dipping sauce. For the main, my husband and I shared the green curry with chicken and coconut rice and the pad Thai with prawns. One of the best pad Thai's I have had and the green curry was very flavourful. Friendly and polite staff , reasonably priced. I would come here again and would recommend read more

Came here for the first time a while ago with a large group of people and while I'm not too familiar with Thai food, I am definitely a fan of spice, curries and coconut-based dishes and after a lot of positive reviews, I was excited to give this place a go. The place is pretty small and while we thought we were seated pretty far away from the door, it got pretty drafty. The server was quick, attentive and pretty organized considering our large group. A friend and I split the spring rolls and the Thai style beef jerky. The spring rolls came out individually in their own shot glasses with the chili sauce at the bottom. Really cute presentation, great for sharing and delicious! The beef jerky kind of fell short and lacked really any flavour.. I don't really know what I was expecting though to be honest. For mains, we split an order of pra ram song lam, which was this chicken and spinach dish in this AMAZING creamy peanut sauce, as well the pa-nang curry with added shrimp. For all the curries and stir-fried dishes, you can customize the type of protein you would like (chicken, pork, beef or prawn). We got a side of coconut rice to share as well, which turned out to be plenty between the two of us. The pa-nang was heavenly and the prawns were HUGE, you got 6 pieces total so perfect for sharing. My girlfriend loved the pra ram song lam. It wasnt as saucy as the curry (obviously), but still very good. For dessert we shared the mango sweet sticky rice, which again was great for sharing, as it came out in 6 pieces. Unfortunately it wasn't as sweet as traditional sweet sticky rice so there wasn't much flavour. Overall, I probably need to come back just for the pa-nang curry as I just couldn't get enough of it. The coconut rice on the side was also a must. The bill came to be approx. $30ish/person and considering the amount of food we got (without drinks) I felt like it was a pretty good price. read more

Really enjoyed all the dishes, started with papaya salad, and shrimp salad rolls which were both great! And then had shrimp in ginger sauce and deep fried fish, both were very nice, only set back for me was the sauce for the fish was the sweet Thai sauce which didn't do it for me, if they had something more authentic. But overall, a very pleasant experience and would come back for sure to try other dishes. read more

Food was absolutely delicious! Although there were a few completely vegan/vegetarian dishes, out of the ones that were available, they certainly did they're job well. Take out on a Saturday night for a date night staying in. Pineapple fried rice had hard to locate pineapple. Green chicken curry had the same issue with the bamboo. Overall bland and needing a depth of flavor. Should have stayed in, period. read more

Good renditions of Thai classics...the menu includes both everyday and royal cuisine. If you like spicy, this place won't hold back when asked. Dishes are about the same price as other Thai restaurants in town, but Khao San edges most of them out on flavour. White Elephant in the North-East is still my favorite, but for downtown this is probably my new go-to Thai spot. Service was friendly and fast. We were out of there in about 45 minutes, even though we had mains and dessert. The patio has about 5 tables, so you can have Thai AND people watch on 17th. What more could you ask for? read more

Khao San Thai Kitchen - Pad Thai - Thai Near Me - Calgary, Alberta

This was hands down a winner! We left in search of Chinese and along the route we saw a Thai restaurant (not the one we chose) but that took me on a yelp search for Thai.... We were both amazed at the freshness and flavors which were nothing shy of cataclysmic!! Really. I would highly recommend this place and in fact will be bringing my daughters when we come to Calgary again for a visit!! read more

Good Thai food that will please your palate and belly wonderfully. That said, I reminesce in vain for the street foods of many countries in Asia: Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, etc. In most instances, they are the very best food that any given exotic culture has to offer... Even so, Khao San is very good (3.75). I asked the affable Thai waiter and possible co-owner Sam what he'd recommend aside from the world-wide popular Pad Thai: after suggesting a few dishes, I selected their Chicken Pa-nang Curry. Flavours nicely cloaked tender white slices of chicken in a mild nutty sauce with bell pepper chunks that with a little heat from their four condiments and a heaping bowl of fluffy short-grained white rice set it all off nicely. On our 2nd visit we ordered their sweet and sour pork and the braised short ribs in Massaman Curry. Super good sauce much enhanced the short beef ribs, but for $24.50 quite short on the other ingredients (potatoes, onions, peppers). The sweet & sour pleasant enough but again short on vegetables. To me, Khao San's decor is super appealing. In the main dining area, dark tones embossed with gold trim in artistic swirls and comfortable furniture invites warmly. Modern Thai-themed music at a suitable volume fills the air with a fine layer to one's dining experience. A front deck with a number of tables invites guests into the sunlight on a street that's not too close to the buzz of traffic. Their washrooms are most interesting: somehow they've sidestepped variant gender concerns by parking a urinal in an exclusive little men's room, with bi+gender washrooms open to all, one of which is large enough for wheelchairs. Staff. Service was prompt and helpful. It's obvious the three Thai people are comfortable with one another and speak Thai openly. Why not. We go there to flavour their ambience, do we not? Would we return? I think so. It's much closer to Juree and most other Thai restaurants. And you? read more

This could be worth a 5 star for Thai for overall ambience, decor, service and food. Noticed how I left value out of it LOL nor would I expect it. This is Thai fine dining--nice table linen too. ordered that popular appy that look like pretty pink flowers, dumpling with sweet sauce and peanutty. highly recommended. ordered the green curry chicken, nicely chopped different colours of green and orange peppers. $16 for this area is the going rate. definitely date worthy or a nice evening out. great customer service, asked how my meal was. AMEX yay very nice washrooms with a communal sink. read more

More like 4.5 Not sure why we didn't stumble upon this restaurant earlier. It has been here for 7 years. Food is really well prepared. We had the tofu appetizer, bass fish fried withe spicy sauce, ribs with m? Sauce, and green curry veggies. Plus coconut rice on the side. The bass was light and not super oily for fried fish. A winner. The ribs on M ? Sauce was tender and flavourful sauce. The green curry with veggies was nice also as owner substituted more veggies instead of tofu as we already had tofu as an appetizer. Owner was real friendly and professional too. Highly recommend this hidden gem. read more
