Between the suspiciously "free" x-ray wand clearly supplied by a vendor to push Invisalign sales, and the tsunami of marketing texts, I opted out of texts. Apparently this also opted me out of receiving any human communication whatsoever, because instead of an appointment reminder, I received a collections notice. Bold strategy. When I called to ask for an exception, I was promised a callback. No callback came. Another collections notice did, though. Called again, went back and forth with the accounting manager, I offered to send a screenshot proving no call had ever been made to me. Total indifference and saying they had records a call was made. The care used to be genuinely great, which makes this all the more disappointing. The vibe here has changed, and not for the better. It's a real shame. read more

I was referred to Sincere Smiles in San Jose by a friend. From the moment I walked in, the staff was very pleasant and welcoming. The office is modern and equipped with updated technology, which I appreciated. However, I quickly realized this office may not be the best fit for someone looking for affordability. I have Guardian dental insurance, and my initial exam was quoted at a little over $100, which surprised me. Thankfully, I wasn't charged for the cleaning, and they were transparent about not repeating X-rays since I had recently taken them at another office. I appreciated that honesty. They recommended a saliva test, which was around $160 and not covered by insurance. It was presented as something I needed, which made me feel pressured, especially since I was already concerned about costs. I knew going in that I likely needed an extraction for tooth #9 and a temporary solution until I could afford a bridge. I asked about a stay plate because I didn't feel comfortable with the idea of removing an appliance in public while eating. Instead, they recommended an Essix retainer with a pontic tooth. It was more expensive than I expected and didn't address my concerns about my front tooth gap. I didn't feel like my personal preferences were fully considered. I was also told I wouldn't qualify for a bridge and would need an implant, which is significantly more expensive. The oral surgeon consultation alone was quoted at around $250, which felt high just for an exam and discussion. Before I realized it, I had spent around $600, even with insurance. When I returned to pick up my retainer, they reviewed my saliva test results and recommended supplements and additional treatments that would total around $2,000. At that point, I felt financially overwhelmed. I do need fillings and a deep cleaning, but the overall treatment plan felt out of reach for my budget. I do believe the staff has good intentions and provides quality care. However, this office seems better suited for patients with a higher budget or more comprehensive coverage. Between the costs, commute, and office hours conflicting with my work schedule, I decided to find a dentist who could work better with me financially. I wish them and future patients the best, but I ultimately chose to continue my treatment elsewhere. I am so grateful for Dr. V and her team. Dr. V has been my dentist since I was in high school (I'm going on 27 yrs old) and I can't imagine it being any other way. I got Invisalign with Dr. V and I'm so pleased with the results! More recently, we've added two composite veneers to my teeth and I've never been more happy to smile. I was initially shocked by the results, as I didn't know it was possible for my smile to look this good. My confidence has totally improved and I'm just really happy with the results. And very appreciative. Something that has stood out to me throughout the years is how caring and thorough Dr. V is - she really takes the time to ensure the quality of her work and the patient's experience. Dr. V and her team are all very friendly, kind, and compassionate individuals. I grind my teeth in my sleep, which is pretty frustrating but Dr. V and her team have been so understanding and supportive about it. They normalize my experience and find ways to protect my teeth, such as custom night guards. I've had a few dental emergencies throughout my time as a patient here and she is always able to get me in right away. It's incredible. To start, I hadn't been to the dentist in YEARS. Didn't have insurance for awhile so I avoided going. Unfortunately I ended up with some severe tooth pain and was noticing multiple cavities forming so I knew I had to rip the bandaid and find myself a good dentist. I was dreading going in for multiple reasons: the pain, the embarrassment of not going in for long, the state of my teeth, etc. BUT when I arrived here all of that anxiety went away. The facility is super clean, everyone is genuinely kind and understanding, and the team is AMAZING. I ended up having to get a root canal and I swear I didn't feel a thing! I even walked home afterwards lol. It's not cheap (I am under Covered CA with SureBridge) but it's 100% worth it and I can't imagine going anywhere else now! Update: comment to owner's (Dr.) comment: to clarify, the timer for the second session did not go off because the button was not pressed correctly; your assistant just came back after 10-15min to check, since the light was off so she assumed that the session was finished, but in fact it did not even start at all. [3.5 Stars to be exact] I came here for the Zoom Teeth Whitening because I got the specials from Groupon. This is not the first time I'm getting Zoom so I knew what to expect. I was early for my appointment and was greeted when I walked in. I like how high-tech they are that I entered my information from their computer instead of writing on paper forms. I checked in Yelp and they gave me a gift, it's a cute bottle opener that has a ruler and a light. The assistant took me in about 5min after I completed the forms. She explained the procedures clearly and took before photos. It was supposed to be 3x 15min sessions. First session, the Zoom head (where the blue light is) moved, since I wasn't able to talk, I waved my hands to get someone's attention; the Doctor saw and came to adjust. 15min later, the assistant came back to prepare the 2nd session, now this time she didn't check before she left me, the blue light wasn't even on! I think she didn't press the button correctly. I waved my hands again trying to get someone but nobody saw me. She came back after 15min thought the session was complete and prepared the 3rd session. 1.5 stars off here, because my result would have been a lot better if the 2nd session was working as planned. During the 3rd session the Zoom head kept falling down, luckily this time she came back to check so she adjusted for me. They also played a movie during the sessions, which makes it less boring while waiting. The end result wasn't as impressive as one I had at previous dentist office. I didn't inform them about the the 2nd session being useless because A - I was running to another appointment and no time to make it up and B - I didn't want to go through the entire preparation again just to make it up a 15min session. They should have came back to check or given me a bell and paper (that was what my previous dental office provided) or something in case of miscommunications. Overall and be fair, they are pretty good, clean place, friendly doctor and staffs, clear explaination and nice welcome gift. I will consider coming back again, but next time I will make sure to bring myself a bell, pen and paper. read more

I called for an appointment and I was scheduled the next day. The staff here were very efficient and nice and I felt very taken care of. I came in and I did not have to wait long before my name was called. I had a teeth cleaning and I was walked through the steps of what was being done. The doctor came in and checked very quickly and also gave me referrals for other specialties. Once I was done I booked my next appointment and got an email immediately. My appointment took an hour and afterwards I felt relived to have gone into the dentist and very relaxed when I left. Great place! read more

I was way overdue for a dental appointment and walked in knowing I was going to have some explaining to do! Just as with my last visits, the staff was EXTREMELY understanding, kind, and informative. They really make sure to give good explanations about the current state of your dental hygiene as well as what next steps need to be taken, if any. As someone who always likes to know why and not just what, I really appreciate the extra time they take to make sure you understand! Also as I mentioned in my previous review, I love being involved with my care. The ability to see my x-rays, teeth photos, and clinical notes being taken/typed in front of me really appeals to me. I called in to schedule a teeth cleaning and they were able to fit me in within the week. Being my first visit, I was not sure how I would feel about changing dentists. I am pleased to say that the doctor and the staff were fantastic. They made me feel relaxed and cared for throughout the visit. The appointment did not come across as rushed and they answered any question I had. They were even able to fit me in for the dental work right after my cleaning. During my procedure they set up with movie and noise cancelling head phones. I took advantage of the current yelp deal and will be getting the free teeth whitening. Had a stellar experience at Sincere Smiles dentistry. The pleasantries began when I called the office to make an appointment for a consultation and spoke with Rebecca Rodriguez. She was very efficient and scheduled me in a timely manner which was much appreciated as my face was throbbing in pain. She was very nice and helpful, over the phone as well as in person. I went in to get seen, and got greeted with a Sincere Smile and got checked in. The Doc found that it was my wisdom tooth after the x-rays. The pain was on the top part but it was a bottom wisdom tooth and she explained how it shoots to the top. The extraction was scheduled for the next couple days but I had some other minor treatment done. It's pretty chill how they put on a movie while you're getting worked on so you can take your mind off of the procedure. I then seen the hygienist for a cleaning and got everything taken care of all the way around. Overall it was a five-star experience all the way through. I usually hate going to the dentist but their great staff makes it a satisfactory experience. Doctor Vafai is an exceptional dentist. The dentist as well as the front desk staff is very rude and unprofessional. They have no time and courtesy for you if you called to discuss bills. Dentist is very egoistic and defensive. I am surprised how their page is not filled with bad reviews despite lack of professionalism. They make major errors in billing and unless you have time like me to go through everything before paying, you would end up paying more than you are required to. I'm really glad I happened to go with Sincere Smiles because their friendliness and professionalism was really top notch. After my consultation for the wisdom tooth extraction, Rachel let me know that it could be done as soon as today so I went for it. I was pretty nervous to go to the dentist after 3 years because I have had very unpleasant and painful experiences in the past. However, my experience at Sincere Smiles was neither of those things. Dr. Vafai and her staff are very sweet, patient and friendly and made me feel welcome and comfortable. I got a thorough (but pain-free!) teeth cleaning and X-rays on my first visit and I got to see photos of my teeth and she showed me where there were issues. I had a few cavities but instead of lecturing me like my previous dentists did, Dr. Vafai just showed me the proper ways of caring for my teeth. On my second visit I had two cavities filled. I HATE needles and have a low tolerance for pain so I was expecting the worst. But I didn't even feel the needle (they gave me topical anesthetic before they put the needle in) - I didn't feel anything at all during the entire procedure. She made sure I was completely numb before she even started. They let me choose a movie to watch (they have a pretty good selection of DVDs) and provided some wireless headphones, so I turned up the volume and watched that for the 45 minutes it took for them to finish. All in all it was a great experience and now I don't have to fear the dentist anymore. read more

I bought a groupon for zoom whitening and had a great experience.. staff was friendly, efficient and welcoming. the one thing i didn't think of when i bought the groupon was the amount of whitening i would get. my past experiences have been 4 15 minute intervals of the whitening gel and light. i received 3, but that was probably because I had used a groupon. i do wish i would have known that as i would have just paid the extra $30-50 bucks to get the full treatment... but it most likely was in the fine print (which i didn't read). My fiance and I visited Dr Vafai for Zoom whitening having researched the web looking for the best price for the procedure. We were pleasantly surprised by Dr Vafai, her gleaming new office, and her super friendly staff. I suppose I was expecting a kind of meat market catering to customers looking for discounted whitening services; a "get 'em in and get 'em out" environment. What we found instead was the one of the most well-put-together dental offices I had ever seen. Clean, hi tech, and well cared for, the equipment seemed top of the line with customer comfort in mind. There are individual flat screens playing a selection of well-chosen films, wireless noise-reduction headphones, extremely well-designed examination chairs (leather!)... And no KBAY soft rock from the 70s! It was Timbaland/lake all the way...refreshing. There are even snacks and gum in the waiting room! Dr Vafai is young but she exudes experience and has a nurturing way about her. My fiance will most likely start using Dr Vafai as her primary dentist, and with an easy to navigate location on Saratoga Ave right off of the 280, I understand her decision completely.
