First time writing a review. If I could give 0 star I would. This office is unprofessional. Dr. Shan sent me a text Sunday May 3rd from her cell phone that my appointment was cancelled - the day before my appointment which was Monday May 4th and to check with my insurance that I was not assigned to her office from my network. I checked with my insurance and her office name was assigned. Then I received a call that I have to pay $100.00 for the visit and X-rays, I told Michael the office operator that my insurance was 100 % coverage for visits and Xray. I called my insurance and in effect, I'm covered. Called the office and spoke to "Michael" and he said I had to pay $100.00 and to get reimbursed from my insurance. I made this appointment on April 17, today is May 4th and it was the day I was giving. Since I didn't want to loose my spot, I was willing to pay $100.00 then I received a call that the Dr. didn't feel 'comfortable' taking me in as a patient (???) I called, it went to VM, called again went to vm, they are refusing my calls. -Is better not to see her-. It seems like this office is not professional and honest or does have integrity. Even with my insurance that covers 100% they want me to pay $100.00. Is sad to know this type of office is operating. I was really unhappy with my experience here. Overall I've had three bad experiences and I kept giving them the benefit of the doubt but this review is long overdue. My first experience here I got a teeth cleaning and some X rays. I was told that I needed to fill one cavity and that my gums were inflamed and i needed a special medication for it. I was a little shocked as I have very good oral hygiene and I had my last cleaning 4 months ago and just moved so i needed a new dentist. I hesitantly agreed and got what the dentist Dr. Chitra recommended. I payed for the medication and got my cavity filled. My next visit was just a cleaning and I was told a had six cavities that now needed to be filled. I was unable to get X-rays because it was only 6 months since my last one.. I asked how she knew i needed those fillings if X-rays weren't done and she showed me with photos. I wanted to hold off because again, this was very out of the norm for me. Dr. Chitra also informed me that i bleed too much during my cleaning and needed a special mouthwash to take home so i wouldn't get an infection. She charged me $20 for it and when i got home and googled it, I found out it was a scam. My most recent visit which was today ended in Dr. Chitra refusing to do my cleaning. She again informed me that I had cavities to fill and when i requested an Xray and informed her insurance would now pay for it she said " you can't see these cavities with an Xray" "there is no point is doing your cleaning if you have cavities" I told her i did not feel comfortable having her fill those cavities if I could no see them and she said it was best to have her discharge my records so I could find a new dentist. When i asked for my records and the last X-rays that were done she told me there was a $25 electronic fee to send them via email. I honestly don't get what they big deal was. If insurance was going to pay for the Xray why not just do them so I could see all of these cavities that popped up in less than six months? Just seems like a scam practice and It's really a shame because i could tell the previous dentist had a good clientele and reputation before he sold his practice to Dr. Chitra. read more

My Mom and I have been with Dr Shaw for a number of years. She is always so wondeful, nice, and polite. She helps us to schedule our appointments together, especially on my 1 day off of work. Today I called about tooth pain early AM. She scheduled appointment for me right away, the same day, after work. She took ex rays and told me my pain was ligament and muscle from grinding my teeth from stress. She told me to use my Nite Gard she had molded for me, eat soft foods for 5 days, ice, and use ibuprofen for anti inflammatory. What a wonderful dentist. She didn't even charge for visit. She easily could have tried to take advantage on crowned tooth, but instead, she was kind and understanding. We have always been very happy with her dental work. read more

When you open the door to this little hell on the wall, you get the sense of Mafia hide out and the boss lady Dr. Chitra Shanmugham, is the Indian-American dentist. The first surprise is that you are getting a phone call one or two minutes before your appointment time from her secretary to assure them that you are coming. The boss lady is going thru anxiety. The second surprise is the secretary demands, to pay up front, The boss lady is going thru financial stress. The third surprise is that you are entering a room that brings you back to the 60', or 70's environment, everything is tacky. The boss lady is lacking decorative taste. And the last surprise when I asked a business card, her secretary told me that the boss lady doesn't give her cards out, except to a very few clients, the boss lady is guilty as hell. You are not sure if the nurse speaks English, because she never talks, but you are sure that the secretary speaks English, despite the fact that you don't understand a word. Early on, I asked her to send me an email with a statement explaining the charges, like how much my insurance will pay and how much I will pay. The secretary agreed but she never sent me the email, the boss lady didn't allow her to expedite such an act. She had her own plan to bypass my insurance (more later). When I called her to find out why she never answered me back, and with her broken English, she started with questions like "when did you send it", "where did you send it", "why you did you send it", etc, because I can't find it. The boss lady didn't allow her to open the emails. During the first visit, it took her 3,5 hours for preparation for the two crowns. I noticed that she didn't have any tray to put her tools on and she was leaving them on my chest above my heart. I asked her to stop doing this because I have a problem with my heart and this area is very sensitive. The next visit the boss lady had hard time to place the two crowns, so she brought the technician to help her. At one point I was laying flat down and her assistant decided to place the heavy lead apron on my chest (supposedly to take xrays) and she disappeared. She left me for at least 20 minutes with this weight above my heart. I felt uncomfortable and I was putting my hands under to reduce the weight. When I got out my wife told me "you look pale". The same night I was shaking, I had high blood pleasure and very fast heart beat. I didn't want to go to ER, so I thought I could handling by myself, by taking extra blood pressure pills, but didn't work. The next morning my wife drove me to the ER and they found that I was in Afib. They kept me with IVs for four hours and their diagnosis was dehydration. They reduced the heart beat but still it was above 100 bpm. But the diagnosis was wrong because the next day I was feeling worst so I had to call 911 and they took me to the ER again and I had to go thru cardio-version. This time they kept me for twelve hours. Unfortunately my dental work was not done, so I had to go for the last visit to place the veneer because I had prepaid. Meanwhile she had me wait another week because her machine-compressor (?) didn't work. (whatever she is using is old and obsolete). Then, I realized that this dentist is not only damaged my health, but she also cheated on me with the insurance money. When I was leaving I asked her to explain to me how much my insurance will pay for two crowns and one veneer and her answer was that my limit is $1,300 per tooth and the insurance pays whatever is above that amount. For example if the work is $1,600, the insurance will pay the $300. Since I had this feeling that the boss lady is nothing but a fraud, I called Kaiser insurance and I was informed that for a good crown, I pay $533 and the insurance pays the rest and the boss lady never submitted any claim to them. The lady from the insurance recommended to file a grievance report, and I did. Basically what she does is, she signs up with different insurances to be participate in their dental directory and from there she is getting clients and then she treats them as uninsured. She hires incompetent employees to have the control of everything. She is also clueless with medications, in the beginning she recommended to stop taking the blood thinners for five(!) days in case I get bleeding and I have to go to the ER. read more

Do not go to this dentist! Dr. Shanmugham was my dentist until she actually ghosted me, refusing to answer my calls regarding a tooth which needed removal. I had seen her mid-May about it and was scheduled for extraction on May 30. I got there on time and she decided not to pull the tooth because I recently had ankle surgery, and she wanted to avoid infection. Fast forward to June 27, when I could no longer stand the pain; I called her and she said she would send a referral to a specialist. Never sent it. I waited over a long and miserable weekend and called again on Monday, 6/30. I called four times between 9 am and 2 pm hoping to catch her between clients. She never returned my calls, leaving me hanging with an infected tooth. No wonder she has a sign in her office asking clients to not be abusive to her or her staff. Avoid Dr. Shan, and business owner 'Steve'. She has very poor customer service to not be able to tell a client she won't do the work. read more

Dr. Shani and her receptionist, Mike, were very helpful and patient in helping me verify the coverage of my insurance. They do not take my insurance, but they took the time to talk to my insurance company and verify this when I dropped in without an appointment. read more

I called this dental practice for a week and was never able to get an appointment. I had to keep leaving voice messages since there wasn't a live person to answer their phone. I left my name and contact information and did receive 2 messages back. In the second message I was finally give some appointment times. I called back again with my availability within the times I was given and never received a call back or confirmation. After a week of playing telephone tag and still no appointment I gave up. read more

I had a dental emergency and was in a sever pain few weeks ago, Dr. Shan accept me as a new patient and started to work with me fixing my teeth which are in horrible condition. As working in the health care industry for 10+ years myself, I would say Dr. Shan is very professional and aced in her skill. Moreover, she is a respectful, warm, humble and sincere individual as well. The clinic charge minimum fee for great quality dental service. The dentist assistant team are still building up to the expectation of Dr. Shan, but I'd say it did not influence my experience during my appointment at all. read more

I've been going to Dr Chu's practice since i moved here in 2014. I loved his practice and staff. Very warm, friendly and inviting. i loved that they had Saturday appts and could accommodate even my child for his first appt. Dr. Chu informed me IN WRITING via email he was selling his practice to another doctor from the pacific-northwest. My first visit with her was fine. She was nice, but was pushing invisalign way too much. She wanted me to get an orthodontist referral, but never gave me one. I ignored it, and had my dental work done. She did a good job explaining everything and telling me there would be a transition since she didn't know the patients. That's understandable since she's new to the area. I have never had an issue with billing and have always been told upfront that if I didn't cancel, I would be charged. Their staff is very accommodating with my busy schedule an gives me the flexibility to re-schedule. My 2nd visit was much better. No pushy sales about invisalign, just a standard checkup with x-rays and full cleaning. I got a chance to hold the mirror so they could show me where to focus my efforts on flossing. They got my consent to apply fluoride to my teeth. The feeling is weird, but it's fine afterwards. Overall, she's transitioned well from Dr. Chu and the staff is very welcoming. read more

This is the *first* Deltacare HMO ("DC-HMO") Insurance dentist I have found in the San Jose area who -- in addition to being well-trained, professional, and available -- diligently performed all the components of a proper initial dental evaluationt including xrays, gum pocket measurements, etc., without being asked (see below), also didn't recommend expensive unnecessary work that Deltacare doesn't cover. In our first visit (yesterday) Dr. Chu reviewed my prior x-rays and photos (which my former dentist emailed me) and compared them to the ones he took; by this AM his wonderful secretary Sharon already had mailed me the xray pictures as requested. Dr. Chu confirmed that my xrays and exam showed healthy bone and teeth; he did not tell me I had cavities that didn't exist (see below), nor did he urge me to get crowns that I didn't need, etc. In addition to taking my dental history, reviewing my current and old xrays and photos, and examining my teeth and gums, he meticulously measured all the periodontal gum pockets. (I mention this, because the first DC-HMO dentist I saw did not do the "necessary for a competent examination" work of measuring my gum pockets until I asked her, whereupon she shrugged her shoulders and said something like, "Well, if you want me to I will.") Dr. Chu then advised me what I could do to improve my periodontal health (e.g., in addition to my regular brushing and flossing, I should start using the water-flosser I bought 4 months ago that's been sitting unopened in my bathroom cabinet, LOL), and scheduled me for the *regular* cleaning that I actually needed, rather than for the "deep cleaning" that *many* DC-HMO dentists recommend to everyone (or even *insist* you get according to other Yelp! reviews I've read) due to DC-HMO not paying dentists anything more than your $10 co-Pay when they do a regular cleaning. (More on how DC-HMO pays dentists below, which explains why it's nearly impossible to find more that a 3-Yelp!-star dentist who takes new patients with DC-HMO insurance; I spent a *huge* amount of time Yelp!-ing before I found Dr. Chu.) As for my previous experience with DC-HMO dentists through Kaiser Sr Advantage, 100% (except Dr. Chu) recommended unnecessary treatment that DC-HMO does not cover. [In reading this, note that my prior (non-DC-HMO) dentist, who treated me for ~20 yrs before DC-HMO & who I went to "private-pay" for a double-crown I needed done while on DC-HMO (yes, I was willing to pay him ~$1,000 more than I would have had to pay a DC-HMO dentist for it), confirmed that I didn't need any other work done, & that I don't need "deep cleanings." In addition, around two months prior to seeing Dr. Chu (i.e., after the other visits described below) I got checked by a highly respected American-Israeli dentist who trained at NYU and has 40 years of professional experience, who said the same thing. 1. The most common DC-HMO dentist bill-padding (which I interpret as "fraud" FWIW) involved telling me I needed crowns on some teeth with old fillings & the old fillings replaced with new ones on others. 2. One DC-HMO dentist, who reasonably recommended I get a cleaning every 4 months rather than every every 6 months due to some asymptomatic 4-mm pockets on my perio exam, told me she needed to do a "deep cleaning" (see below). [As, I later learned, DC-HMO does not pay dentists *anything* for a regular cleaning & they tell patients they only "cover" a "non-deep" cleaning every 6 mo (even though there's nothing to prevent the dentist from doing one more often), so the only way they can get paid a penny more than your $10 office co-payment is to tell you that you need a deep cleaning. This is why the Yelp! reviews of DC-HMO listed dentists almost invariably include complaints that the dentist recommended -- or even "insisted on" -- deep cleanings for patients who never needed them with non-HMO dentists and who had no change in their condition and no symptoms indicating periodontitis.] 3. The last DC-HMO dentist I saw in Oct 2015 (she no longer accepts DC-HMO through Kaiser, which apparently is more restricted than "not through Kaiser") told me that in addition to "needing" a $125 Deep Cleaning & Scaling plus a $50 local antibiotic treatment done *immediately*, plus 2 crowns (including an extra charge for "build-up") for $1,216, plus a $145.15 4-month "dental maintenance" ... I also had decay on one of my teeth which required a $125 filling. From my then-recent visit to my non-HMO dentist for the double crown I knew I didn't need any more crowns, but hearing that I had new decay requiring a filling on a previously healthy tooth worried me, which is why I consulted with the NYU-trained well-respected dentist while in Israel. Per above, he (and then Dr. Chu) both agreed I had no tooth decay. So, whether or not you have DC-HMO, try to establish with Dr. Chu! He's well-trained, caring, diligent, and ... HONEST! read more

I absolutely LOVE Dr. Chu! I was terrified to come to the dentist because I hadn't been in almost 10 years (Yikes! I know...), but my fears have subsided. My first visit was about a year and a half ago and I had my xrays taken and a visual exam on my teeth to check for cavities. I had originally come in because I needed to have my wisdom teeth removed, so Dr. Chu gave me a referral to do so and recommended I come back ASAP to have my cavities filled. It is now over a year later and I just had a couple of my cavities filled today...EASY BREEZY! It took about 20 minutes total and I felt nothing! I'm so not worried about coming back to finish the rest next week. It was seriously no big deal! The staff is also very nice!! I would feel comfortable having Dr. Chu do any dental work on me! read more

Just got the bill in... close to thousands of dollars of work on my husbands mouth, and insurance paid for all of it. The only fee... 50 dollars per tooth where we wanted to use the white filling as opposed to the silver. Looks great... blends right into the mouth (same color)! Long overdue review, been coming for over 2 years. From regular checkup, cleaning, fillings, to ortho referral, Dr. Chu has always been skilled, knowledgeable, patient, and with a gentle touch. Every visit is a good experience and respectful of my time. Sharon at the front desk is always helpful, accommodating, and upfront with everything I need to know before she charges anything and books any services. I have DMO dental insurance and it was difficult to find a good dentist that wanted to give me the time of day, let alone treat me as a valued client. I know they have a dental hygienist, but Dr. Chu has cleaned my teeth every visit. Most dentist at his success usually have a hygienist do these, but I so appreciate it when I get the doctor himself, because I really believe that it's another opportunity for him to catch anything that the X-rays may have missed. Top it all off, and I know you're going to laugh at me, but they have the best goodie bag after each visit! A premium toothbrush, floss and toothpaste, I mean the good stuff, not the generic single use junk. read more

I want to say this is my first time ever writing a review. This has got to be the worst place in general that I have tried doing business with. I set up my appointment way in advance and was scheduled at the beginning of this month. the day comes and I go over there. My appointment was at noon and their business is open at 10 am. However, upon my arrival the business is closed, and seemed closed for at least a week. I dont know if they went on vacation or something, but there were many messages left from UPS and FedEx about packages that they need to pick up. I waited over an hour before leaving, hoping that they would show up still. I'm an idiot for doing so, because it was already clear they weren't opening up at all that day. I tried calling them and no reply. It has been a week already and still no calls from them. what upsets me is that if they were planning to close the business, why was I not notified. I have been calling them numerous times prior as well due to having issues with getting a referral from them for my daughter, so it doesnt make sense that they would miss my appointment. I'm sure there were also many appointments that didn't happen during those days they were not in operation. I'll be looking elsewhere for dental services as it looks like they dont seem to care about their customers. read more

I moved to this dentist three years ago on the recommendation of a friend and even though the bookkeeping has been completely incompetent throughout, Dr. Chu was wonderful. This year he sold the practice to Dr. Shan and unfortunately the level of care has suffered. My daughter and I both went to her and when my daughter (who has epilepsy) needed a filling, she made us jump through a number of hoops before she "felt comfortable" treating a patient with a medical condition. We even had to submit a medical waiver from her neurologist. Isn't she a doctor? People with disabilities already struggle with daily life so why make them feel so bad about their condition. The billing is borderline fraudulent. Before my cleaning, I got a voicemail from them saying "I was not assigned to their practice and I had to calll my insurance before my appointment the next morning". When I called Delta dental, they told me I have a PPO and they had no idea what Brite dental was talking about. When I went for my cleaning they denied leaving me the message (which I still have). I have excellent teeth, but suddenly I needed a deep cleaning and they wanted me to pay over $1000 out of pocket up front. They also charged me $85 for the exam even though they didn't clean my teeth after all. I called Delta again and they said dentists who charge up front are a little shady and they should have only charged me $24. When I sent the EOB to Brite dental it took them two weeks to get back to me and demand that I return to the office if I wanted my refund. Even if I'm out $61, I found a new dentist and will be moving on. Don't trust dentists who charge people with insurance up front and recommend exotic cleaning plans. read more

Worst experience I ever had in the US. called twice to make appointment and receptionist said she will verify my insurance and call me back but never. After I confirmed with Insurance company and I called the third time, finally got 2PM appointment. When I showed up at 1:45pm, the office door was locked. I called without answer and after I knocked the door many time, finally Steve showed up with grumpy face and answered the door. He told me to come back in 20 minutes because his staff is in lunch. I came back at 2PM. again after I knocked the door many time and Steve opened the door. He said his staff is still in Lunch with cold face and left. Maybe I should not have showed up??? I had high expectations when I made an appt to see Dr. Chu. The dental assistant was amazing and reassuring, very professional and positive while Dr. Chu was cold, robotic and unhelpful. Didn't greet you when you arrived, especially being our first time, didn't make you feel welcomed and I would NOT recommend. read more

I was extremely disappointed with my visit at Brite Dental today.  I signed up to be seen by Dr. Chu but ended up being seen by a Dr. Chitra who claimed that she has bought over the practice. If Dr. Chu is no longer seeing patients and is being replaced by another dentist, it would be be appropriate that I be informed ahead of my appointment so that I can make a decision as to whether I want to keep my appointment or not. If I have to inform the office 48 hours prior to any changes on my end, I should expect no less from the clinic as well.  This is not only expected but it shows integrity of the dentists involved. The dentist, Dr. Chitra, could not even tell that I did not have a bridge but just crowns even though she had the x-rays, pictures, and looked at my teeth.  She even had to consult with another dentist, presumably Dr. Chu, in the background before discussing planned treatment. I signed up for a cleaning today but wasn't given one.  I was there for an hour and just had a bunch of photos and X-rays taken, issues explained, and quotes given. I had to sign two agreements. One to pay $100/hr if I did not cancel 48 before; the other to pay for my treatment when I make the appointment with them. The whole thing sounded fishy to me. One star is even too good a review. This was my first visit to Brite Dental and definitely my last.  I won't be back, trust me! read more

I only review when I really like a place or dislike a place. This is obviously a place I dislike. Not because of the dentist, but the customer service you receive from the front desk reception is the worst! The main reason why I dislike this place is the customer service is DREADFUL. The receptionist is probably one of most unfriendly people I have ever met. She is either on her Facebook account or cell phone all day and treats the customers with no respect at all. I am not sure how the dentist can not see these things happening right in front of him, so as long as that piece of this dentistry stays the same its is a horrible experience. Dr. Pham was GREAT but he is no longer there anymore. He predecessor is OK, Dr. Cho (is a bit unexpected). I can't rave about him because he did do a botch job on three of my cavities that I had to get fixed by another dentist. read more

I have never felt strongly about anything enough to bother creating a Yelp account nor to write a review about anything. That was the case until my recent experience with Brite Dental. This review isn't based off of a one time visit. I have given it several opportunities to wow me (3 dental appointments, to be exact). I would like to reiterate what a lot of my fellow 1-star Yelpers said about the terrible customer service from the front desk. This review is based solely on the customer service in itself. The dentist wasn't particularly stellar and wasn't enough to compensate for the receptionist. 1st visit: I scheduled an appointment, but the receptionist had to reschedule. Okay, that's fine. I'm not an unreasonable person. 2nd visit: I scheduled an appointment right after my first visit. Bear in mind that my 2nd appointment was made 6 months in advance. Again, the receptionist called to reschedule. On the day of my 2nd appointment, I had to wait 30 minutes in the waiting room. Again, I'm not an unreasonable person. I didn't complain about the 30 minute wait. 3rd visit: I scheduled an appointment right after my second visit. Again, my 3rd appointment was made 6 months in advance. Again, the receptionist called to reschedule. My original appointment was at 4pm. She called at 2pm on the day of to reschedule and asked if I would be willing to come in a little bit earlier (3pm). I agreed. I left work right away just to make it to the appointment on time. I arrived a little before 3pm. I waited 30 minutes. One lady walked in and was super chummy with the receptionist (apparently they know the same friend or something. I didn't care enough to listen in on pointless conversation). I continued waiting. 10 minutes after that, another lady and her daughter walked in. The receptionist had all of us sit on the dental chairs in the back. What was the last straw (apart from having to wait 40 minutes in the waiting room) was when the dentist saw the other two people before me. That's right. The dentist saw the two individuals that came in FORTY MINUTES LATER than I did before me. NO explanation was given to me whatsoever to explain to me why my dental appointment was rescheduled an hour earlier only to have me wait an hour in the waiting area. I was furious at that point and talked to the receptionist. She kept repeating "due to unforeseen circumstances", my appointment was late. Excuse me? No. "Unforeseen circumstances" is when the building gets caught on fire. "Unforeseen circumstances" is when the previous appointment took longer than expected. "Unforeseen circumstance" is when you have NO CONTROL whatsoever! These other two patients arrived AFTER me! FORTY MINUTES AFTER ME! Therefore, I think the receptionist/dentist can control who gets to be seen first! I cannot respect any facility, or even doctor for that matter, that doesn't respect a patients' time. What makes them think that their time is more valuable than mine? I already have to work MY work schedule around dental hours that are during prime work time. I scheduled my appointment SIX MONTHS IN ADVANCE! I cannot respect any facility that allows a patient to wait 40 minutes and then have their friend cut in line. That is extremely unprofessional and shows extreme favoritism. Why is it necessary for patients to be able to provide 48 hours notice if they're going to cancel? But why don't they have the courtesy to provide 48 hours notice if they're going to be overbooking patients? The receptionist has a simple job. Scheduling patients. How is it possible to overbook? Do you not know how many patients are scheduled that day and time? If you don't know, then maybe you aren't fit to be a receptionist! The dentist sent me an apology email explaining "such occurrences are rare in our office". Excuse me, Dr. Chu, but based off of the Yelp reviews, the terrible customer service wasn't a rare occurrence! Maybe a new receptionist should be hired to take place of the current receptionist if she can't stop overbooking patients. read more

Jacob H. Pham, D.D.S is the most professional, efficient kids dentist I have ever encountered. My four year old daughter had a root canal done a year ago at another dentist in Saratoga, whose name I wont mention because this box can't hold what I would have to say. After expressing to the other dentist exactly what I thought of his incompetence, I checked around and found Brite Dental on Hamilton in Campbell. My daughter was nervous because her gum had become absessed and that other dentist thought of every way he could to get me to spend more money on her baby teeth. Jacob Pham's assistant calmed her down a bit and when he came in the room, he had my daughter smiling and relaxed. Before I even realized it, he had my daughter so distracted that she never noticed what he was doing. It was over very quickly so that she would not be traumatized by the whole experience. I am extremely satisfied with the level of service she received and how everything was thoroughly explained to me. It is bad enough when a root canal fails on an adult, but a child, it is horrible. Dr. Steve Chu is great. He take the time to explain any questions you may have or any work he is going to do. This places is booked solid. Many times Dr. Chu will be working on multiple patients at a time. I went in for a cleaning and I felt that he rushed it because he stopped his work on another patient to quickly do my cleaning. This place is booked two-three weeks in advance when booking your appointment, but it when it comes to your appt, they will have an "emergency" and need to reschedule you - multiple times. For my last cleaning appointment, they had cancelled on me two times with a delay of a week between rescheduled dates. My current appointment has been rescheduled once and they are trying to reschedule a second time. I will not be coming back. Receptionist and staff and generally nice. read more

This was a horrible experience. I went online and requested an appointment on Oct 22, I received a reply back Oct 23, great right?? After a few emails back and forth with Sharon, she asked about my insurance. I told her the kind I had, and asked again when they next appointment would be after 4. No response. After a few days, I emailed to follow up. She asked again what my insurance was. I responded, and have not heard anything since. That was on 11/1/2013. I called today (1/10/2014), so I can just get straight to the point and schedule a stinkin appointment. My tooth is causing me pain, and I need to see someone. The person who answered the phone was very unpleasant. Apparently she has not heard of the phrase (Say it with a smile), because it was quite obvious that she was not smiling. She asked what the appointment was for, and said that she doesnt have anything until the end of the month. I said that was ok, what is the latest appointment you have? She then informed me they are only open for appointments on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. NOT what their website says, then she says that the latest appointment is 2:30. I read the reviews, and thought I would give it a try. Everyone was right, their customer service is terrible. The people that said it was good, have to be talking about a different office. This is ridiculous. Needless to say, I will be looking for another dental office. read more

Based on the Yelp reviews, I switched to Dr Jacob Pham last year, and found that he was a very capable, dedicated, conservative, gentle dentist. I like him a lot. Last month, my wife needed a second opinion for dental quote she received from another dentist. I recommended Dr. Pham to her and got it approved by her insurance. Dr. Pham's receptionist made the appointment and I sent my wife to him. When my wife got there, they switched her appointment to Dr. Pham's sister, a new dental school graduate. I am sure she is capable, but that is not the dentist I specifically asked her to see. The receptionist lied to my wife and told her that she had explained to me on the phone that she would be seeing Dr Pham's sister. That was a lie - she never mentioned anything of the sort. Since they are both named Dr. Pham, they think they can substitute without telling any of their patients. That is not right. Then, earlier this month, I went in for my 6 month cleaning, and found that they had changed me also to Dr. Pham's sister, without consulting me first. She appears to be a capable dentist, but I consider Jacob to be my dentist. The issue here is a lack of communication with their patients, and deception by the receptionist. read more

Well, this is my very first Yelp review and I have to say, as someone who checks reviews often on Yelp, i am really shocked at some of the poor reviews for Dr. Chu and his office on here. However, I've noticed that generally when I check Yelp reviews, there are always a few unhappy folks/reviews, no matter what. That being said, I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND YOU TRY DR. CHU IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A NEW DENTIST! I've had some of the worst experiences with dentists, and he's the first in years that I have found that is gentle, honest, and doesn't charge an arm and a leg. They get you in quick, Sharon at the front desk is fantastic, and I'm so happy I've finally found a place that is legit. Correction: This is my second review. So Wednesday I go in, get a filling, got enamel restored on one of my teeth and scheduled for my next dental appointment. Total amount of bill is $0.00! yay for me! Also, Dr. Pham was very pleasant this time around and actually talked to me a little bit. I was really impressed, and at the same time wondered if he saw my original review. I would highly recommend this place to anyone seeking a new dental office. He seems like an honest guy (I have one slightly crooked tooth in the front and a couple of the dentists I went to said I should get braces), but Dr. Pham never made a big deal about it or tried to sell me on invisalign or teeth whitening. In addition, his office staff and dental assistants are really friendly and make you feel at ease. If your insurance is paying for it, why not give it a shot right? read more

Very disappointed in this place. Dr. Steven Chu is not a patient dentist and does not seem to be committed to the care of his patients. I brought my mother, who has Alzheimer's/Dementia to Dr. Chu because my mom's dental insurance had changed. After his assistant struggled to take x-rays, he come over to perform an exam and cleaning, and asked who her previous dentist was and how they were able to work on my mother's teeth given her mental condition. I explained that the previous dentist spoke Japanese and that if he didn't, I was there to assist him. He said right off the bat that he didn't think he could care for her. Offered no assessment of the teeth that she did have x-rays of until I explicitly asked him and was visibly impatient while trying to clean my mom's teeth and eventually gave up and said, "I think she's had enough". He simply did not give me the impression that he actually cared about his patients and was simply more concerned with getting patients in and out quickly. I would not recommend this dentist to anyone with a child or elderly parent. read more

Dr.Chu is the best, period. My wife and I found Mr.Chu last year. I had a lot of issues with my gum and Mr.Chu told me how to take care of it. After one year, my gum and teeth got huge improvement. Thanks, Mr.Chu. I like the place too, all staffs are very nice. Highly recommended. read more

From the moment i walked in i sensed i wasn't going to like it. The receptionist (Cheryl ?) shares way too much about her self and their office Christmas bonuses, or the twilight movie she couldn't wait to go see- all unasked for volunteered information. but ok, her over friendliness may be my problem. Dr. Chu did some of my cleaning and then handed it over for someone else to finish, which i found to be a little bizarre. he later filled 2 cavities and it was terrible! i had filled cavities done before and NEVER had any problems. Now i had discomfort and some pain and uneven feeling for several weeks. However, he is really nice- i enjoyed the consultation (just not the end product). I have a good insurance with Cigna and when the receptionist calculated the cost I was surprised i had to pay $181 for 4 cavities. She seemed to calculate based on my insurance, so i was quiet about it.... BIG MISTAKE! I just got off the phone with my insurance and she looked up my record and said i should have payed $0!!! Also, the office decided to take an extra day off for thanksgiving (because they had only 3 clients that day) and the appointment i scheduled for the 27th over a week ago, they called me on the 25th in the afternoon to let me know the office will be closed and i'll have to reschedule. and when are they available? only 2 weeks into December... WOW! complete disregard to other people's needs! The receptionist even had the audacity to argue with me and tell me she warned me this could happen. I can tolerate a lot, but this??? rude, unprofessional, bad service, cheating... the office looks nice though :) A wide variety of magazines. read more

After all these years, still the best dental office ever! I have sent the majority of my family here as well and they all love it. I'm now being taken care of by Dr Chu since Dr Pham relocated. He is absolutely great. His work is top notch, even when he warns of possible discomfort or complications from a procedure they never happen! The entire office is great, from Sharon at the front desk handling insurance, appointments, and payments to the hygienist (I'm so sorry but I cannot recall her name) everyone is so pleasant and accommodating. Pricing is great, scheduling is incredibly flexible, and again the dental work itself is far and above the best I have ever received. Wow, I actually just noticed some of the other low reviews about customer service....I'm really surprised by that. I'd say definitely give them a shot and see for yourself. The reviews here on Yelp motivated me to contact Brite Dental when I broke a tooth in August. Dentists make me nervous and the great reviews of Dr. Pham alleviated my fears. My experience in his chair lived up to those reviews. A week prior to my appointment I verified that they accept Delta Dental Premier and gave them my details ahead of time so my appointment would be stress free. The receptionist scheduled me in promptly for an appointment, their friendly dental assistant carried out xrays and a Dr. Pham carried out quick cleaning and analysis and then briefly discussed the scheduled plan they would create and go over with me later after they completed verification of benefits. While the receptionist kept my appointment stress free by waiting until afterwards to let me know that they were having troubles verifying that I had insurance, that stated they were confidant it was a small glitch that could be covered off easily once their internet access resumed. Unfortunately, continued paperwork errors have required me to resend my details several times, Delta has verified my coverage repeatedly as I wait on how to proceed with attending to the root canal that my broken tooth requires. Dr. Pham was excellent and I felt very comfortable overall and looked forward to future appointments. Unfortunately it is now december, and although procrastinating by playing phone tag helps me avoid the dentist - this is not my goal. Today I have succeeded in booking another appointment through the dental assistant but have yet to see a "plan" - I've just pushed to have the tooth attended to regardless because action seems more satisfying than waiting for the year to end. I have no interest in the waste of this years quota of dental access. 5 stars for my visit with Dr. Pham in August, 5 for the assistants telephone manner and helpfulness today -1 star for the lack of information still existing 4 months later. read more

They put the Care in Healthcare. I found this office through my HMO and was so pleasantly surprised to find that I was lucky enough to choose such a great dentist in office. The office staff are warm and caring, and also fun and humorous. It makes going to the office actually pleasurable. Doctor Chu is pretty cool. He was initially very welcoming and after examination took a great deal of time to discuss with me my options. He had identified that I had an infection above two of my molars and took about 15 minutes to explain and discuss with me what needed to be done and what would likely happen if I did not have an old root canal redone with the intention of killing the infection. He made a referral to a fantastic Doctor who like him took a great deal of time to discuss my options with me. I am a healthcare provider calling patients after treatment was the standard of care in my office however, I have never had any of my other doctors give me a call couple of days after treatment to check in and see how I was doing. It is a bit sad that my that veterinarians regularly do this but my doctors never have. I was pleasantly surprised today to receive a follow-up call just to check in and see that I was comfortable following the treatment I received two days ago. Likewise the Doctor I was referred to for the root canal provided the same level of care and regard for me. read more

Dr. Pham is exceptionally gentle and very quiet and courteous. After having an awful experience with Northern Dental, I decided to go to a smaller dentist's office. This is a very small office, but as a result, you can get an appointment right away, usually next day after calling. Everybody is very kind. I came in 15 minutes early and was still seated right away and they numbed me while they finished up with the other patients. One caution: Do make sure you know your insurance benefits before you go in. They tried to say there would be a $50 copay on composite filling when in actuality my Pacific Union Dental fully covers composite fillings. Sometimes their things are not always up to date, so make sure you know before you go. read more

I am so grateful that I found Brite Dental and Dr. Chu. I've always been fearful of dentists but Dr. Chu has really turned me around. I've never had a problem with appointments or the staff who are always very friendly. They all really came through for me recently when I had a serious dental emergency. They immediately squeezed me in and spent so much time with me fixing my problem and also easing all my fears. I am so appreciative of everything they did for me to help me get my smile back! Dr. Chu is always very patient, explains everything he is doing and most importantly is incredibly gentle. I've had dentists in the past who have just gone to town on my mouth even with my complaints of pain but I haven't had any issues at Brite Dental.
