My hubs and I love Dr. Bauer and her team!! I've gone to many dentists in the area and Dr. Bauer's office is the only one I have liked. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. I also usually see Dr. Bauer when she drops in to say hi or answer questions or if she does my cleaning (I have never had the head dentist do my cleaning before!) This practice exudes warmth and care. If you're nervous about going to the dentist, definitely give this place a try! As a side note, my husband was a patient here first. Dr. Linh Bauer is the kindest and most compassionate dentist I have ever had. She was recommended by a friend, and I travel from Santa Cruz just to be seen by her. I had some really horrible scammy dental experiences right before starting care with her, and she helped me sort out the mess the last dentist had left of mine of my teeth (they lost my crown impression somehow after months of telling me my permanent crown was on the way). She also told me my previous dentist told me I had more cavities than I actually did, saving me money and unnecessary pain. As someone with pretty bad dental anxiety, she is the best dentist you can go to. She even let me (a fully grown woman) bring a stuffed animal into the office to help. Overall an amazing experience. I booked an appt with Janet who went above and beyond to figure out what was covered by insurance. The hygienist Naseem (?) was amazing. She explained everything thoroughly, gave me advice, asked questions and did a thorough cleaning (she thought I was tough, but I thought she was really gentle). Dr. Bauer was very personable. The meeting was short but I'm pretty sure my next appt with her will be a-okay. The office seemed to be filled with happy ladies. I've been seeing Dr. Bauer for around 10 years and have always had a good experience. I hope she will be my dentist for life. If you want someone who is professional, going to make your comfortable, only do work you actually need, and is friendly and kind every time you see her, Dr. Bauer is your dentist! Saddened that I unfortunately have to follow up my previous review with this one, and apologies in advance for the length lol‍ But here it goes: I wore braces about 6 years ago (done by different and unrelated orthodontist). I wasn't completely satisfied with the end results of my bottom teeth when the braces came off. Dr. Bauer informed me I was a good candidate to do a short (about 5 months) run of Invisalign on the bottom teeth to perfect my ortho results. Keep in mind these are not cheap procedures... The Invisalign just for the bottom teeth cost just over $2000. I did the full treatment and finished all the trays and my teeth were looking great. We got to that very last tray in the treatment plan and Dr. Bauer said it was time to order my permanent retainer. Obviously this is a necessity to maintain the results and permanently keep the teeth straightened. Well, for one reason or another the retainer never got ordered. I even saw her for an unrelated appointment and let her know I was still using my last aligner tray as the retainer. She again said that she had to get that retainer ordered and it never happened. Months and months passed. Over 6 months. I ended up moving to San Diego. I wore the tray as a retainer on my teeth as instructed... That's religiously! I was determined to maintain my results that I was very happy with! Dr. Bauer did allow monthly payments for the treatment, which was nice. So she was all payed up in full by the time I was wearing the last treatment tray since I would technically be done with the treatment. I was still using my last alignment tray as a retainer this whole time!! Now it's been going on a year and a half. Well, finally the tray broke! As to be expected of course since it isn't made to last indefinitely. I called her office immediately asking what I could do and if she could please order that retainer and mail it to me since I was very concerned my teeth would shift and to please advise me ASAP for some sort of help or solution. Well, I called early in the week. Days went by before I got a callback. My teeth had already begun to drastically shift. This was very disappointing as I had previously worn two years of braces and the almost 6 months of the Invisalign and paid a pretty penny for that service also!! I informed her receptionist the initial day I called that I had moved to San Diego which, as we all know, is not anywhere close to Campbell. Her receptionist proceeded to tell me over the phone that Dr. Bauer can't order the retainer because she would need to see me in office to asses the situation, and since I now lived far away she couldn't do anything.. In a nutshell I was told she couldn't and wouldn't do anything about it. She advised me to find a new orthodontist in my area to asses/fix the situation. Really?? So basically start all over and do it all again with someone completely different. This was so upsetting as my teeth have now drastically shifted and it's as if I never had the Invisalign treatment at all. I may as well have just flushed 2 grand down the toilet. I was even willing to come up to Campbell and finish some unfinished business and come in for an office visit in hopes we could fix the situation. As I said though, I was basically told to go somewhere else. It's really unfortunate and upsetting it ended up this way. Everything I said about Dr. Bauer in my initial review was true. I didn't expect or understand her response to my situation would be to write me off and basically for me to feel like I was told "too bad, so sad." Now I have to go to another dentist and start this expensive and lengthy treatment all over again. It would have been nice to maybe receive a partial refund or something since I have to pay for this all over again with someone completely different since the treatment was technically not completed. Extremely upset about this. Again, I really did not want to leave a bad review like this. I have no malicious intentions or reason to want to say anything negative about Dr. Bauer.... But this is not ok. As a dentist, If you know how important a patient's teeth are to them and the amount of money and time they spent (years) of treatments and veneers, braces, crowns, etc. wouldn't you want them to be happy with the results of a treatment you provided? Want to finish the treatment completely? Care at all about the outcome?? I just don't get it. read more

Dr. Bauer is absolutely amazing!! I have horrible anxiety when it comes to the dentist and she went out of her way to put me at ease. TWO other dentists insisted that I needed a root canal and crown on one of my molars which is incredibly costly and time consuming (as well as requiring multiple appointments). Dr. Bauer reviewed my x-rays and determined that all I needed was to replace the broken filling... NO root canal, NO crown, NO unnecessary additional appointments. I totally respect her for not trying to convince me to schedule a costly procedure when it wasn't needed. Fast forward to the appointment day... the staff was very warm and inviting. I was taken back and made comfortable right at my appointment time. Dr. Bauer ensured that I was properly numbed (most of my anxiety is the fear of not being numbed enough) before beginning the procedure. Before I knew it, I was all finished and off on my merry way! I was able to complete the entire appointment over my lunch hour with time to spare!! I highly recommend Dr. Bauer for a dentist in the South Bay and will absolutely be returning on a regular basis. read more

They are money driven, not customer driven. I mean at all. I never never write any reviews, but for people to find it helpful. I went for a check, first I called and asked if my Delta dental PPO is covered in their practice. I booked a visit after they have said yes. (actually they don't) People are very nice and welcoming, but the first things to fill out were some regular documents and some sleep apnea device maker ting information. I asked if I needed to fill that too. They said yes. (Of course afterwards got spammed with sleep apnea advertisement) worth mentioning I'm in my late 20's and never had problems sleeping at all. Making the story short. I needed a root canal and some fillings, they recommended me to wait for my root canal until next year so I can take care with the new insurance money, since they don't do that in there. They wanted me to treat the low priority things in their office that would max out my insurance, and leave the important stuff for later. Only the visit cost me $330 dollars + $225 that my insurance cover. total of $555 dollar for pre-check. No treatment was provided. Yeah... no thanks. Money first, patients later. I started seeing Dr. Bauer in my late teens and she was always awesome. Once I got kicked off the folks insurance in my 20's I pretty much stopped going to the dentist. So fast forward 8yrs..... yeah, it's been 8 years since I've had my teeth cleaned : NASTY! I was afraid, I knew I had some whack cavities and I was not looking forward to my visit but knew that if I did not see a dentist I could be toothless before I turn 35. Dr. Bauer was nothing short of AMAZING. Just as lovely as when she first started her practice she is passionate about tooth care in a non preachy way. She was also really honest and accommodating to find the best solutions for me since I don't have dental insurance. The teeth cleaning, though never pleasant was totally manageable because she is a VERY GENTLE DENTIST. I think a doctor qualifies as "great" if they're able to make you look forward to something that, on paper, really isn't supposed to be fun. Dr. Bauer is great. In my experiences, there are two types of dentists. The worst dentist I had was one who kept upselling me on every sort of cosmetic improvement in the book (and my teeth are fine after two years of braces and countless years of retainer -- I go to the dentist to make sure my teeth are clean and healthy, not for a 30-minute infomercial on something I don't need). The best dentists I've had are the ones who scrape, polish, floss, make you feel comfortable, and most importantly: they make sure you have a healthy mouth. Dr. Bauer is the latter type. She's very easy to get along with, works gently, has a great sense of humor, tells me what I'm doing right and what I can do better as far as tooth care, and I can honestly say that she genuinely cares about my health. It's not necessarily a doctor's job to care, but it's not too tough to choose between a doctor who cares about her patients and a doctor who doesn't. She doesn't suggest surgery or additional work when it's not necessary (much like many other dentists are inclined to do). I just got my teeth cleaned last week. Thank you Yelp for helping me find Dr. Bauer. She is booked three months out so you have to be patient to get your first appointment, but it's well worth the wait. She does the cleanings herself, as opposed to most dentists who have a hygenist do that part of the job. Her philosophy is that of minimal intervention, which is the best for your teeth and for your pocketbook. She is intelligent, kind, and gentle. The office is warmly decorated and the office staff are pleasant. I'm so glad I've finally found a dentist I can stick with here in San Jose. Thanks again, Yelpers! I'm editing this review after my third visit. She took care of a cavity on my last visit but left too little space between that tooth and its neighbor. I immediately mentioned it, but she advised me to wait and see, because she could always take care of it later. Well, it does bother me because it's so darn tight that it breaks my dental floss every time, and the force needed to get the dental floss past the tight spot is notable. On my third visit I asked her to take care of it and she just refused with some excuse. So now I have to find a new dentist to fix her mistake. 5+!! Let me count the ways I love Dr. Bauer! - Great office space. The exterior (near the intersection of Hamilton and Leigh) is nothing to write home about. Once inside, it's wonderful: quiet, peaceful, aesthetically pleasing. The reception area is almost like a living room. - Efficient. She and Janet run a tight ship. They're on time and fast but aren't rushed. They both take time to catch up with you (dentally & personally), adjust if you're running late (I drive down from San Francisco), and to accommodate emergencies. - Up-to-date dental practice. It looks acts and smells modern. X-rays are available immediately on the computer screen. Other than getting a credit card receipt, you don't have to deal with paper. - Humor & warmth. Dr. Bauer and Janet both love what they do, love working with each other and love their patients. We laugh over something every time I'm there. (I've been going there every 6 months for several years. I continue going there even tho I moved away from WG 2+ years ago.) One time when I was totally stressed over work, they let me go hang out in the massage chair in the back room. I was laughing and smiling after that and they're like... stop by anytime! - Passion & balance. She loves being a dentist! She wants your teeth to be healthy. When she sees something of concern developing in your mouth (e.g., wisdom teeth that should come out, gums developing pockets), she is all business, a woman on a dental mission, focused. I love chit-chatting with her but like that she drops it as soon as she straps on the mask and starts probing. - Reasonable. I don't know what the current rates are for dental work but I find my bills reasonable. I wish I still had dental insurance but without it, I can live with a $100+ bill for exam & x-rays. I should have written this review awhile ago but the fact that I waited means the review should carry even more weight. You never know how good your care is until you have an emergency! I'm lucky... I have never had major problems with my teeth. At my last exam, she expressed growing concern for my wisdom teeth and my gums (pockets growing deeper) and scheduled the next exam sooner than 6 months with the warning that I might need to go to a periodontist at some point. Despite being vigilant with brushing & flossing, my gums flared up sooner than expected. It was painful and I ended up in her office on an emergency basis right before the holiday weekend. Janet and she didn't blink and squeezed me into an already busy schedule. You would have thought that I was there for a regular appointment given the amount of time and care that they took. Dr. Bauer and her staff are great and so easy to talk to and work with. Dr. Bauer listens and actually hears what her patients are saying. She it thorough in offering suggestions and the full range of options but is great at respecting her patient's decisions, opinions and budgets. I never feel pressured to do any procedure or to make a quick decision. She explains the pros and cons, answers any questions, and then let's it go without pressure or sales pitches. My standards for dentist are pretty high, and after moving to the area I found Dr. Linh Bauer just down the street from where I work. She is just wonderful! You might miss the office since it looks like a residential house, but I think it's rather pleasant especially if you hate going to the dentist. I have had a great experience with all the staff from reception, the hygienists to Dr Linh Bauer. Dr. Bauer has responded quickly to my "vanity emergencies" with professionalism, and humor. Most recently, Dr. Bauer literally made me smile again after a bike crash resulting in the loss of a tooth and two root canals. She returned my call on Easter Sunday, and got me in right away for a temporary fix until I could get my final veneers. I was incredibly nervous to have my front teeth reconstructed as my smile is such a big part of me. It was really important to me that my teeth still looked like my prior smile. The dental service was good at the time I got it i(n the beginning of the year) but my gum problems seemed to have worsened after I became their patient. But the most ridiculous thing about this place is how they promised me that all my services would be covered before I got the treatment only to receive a nasty bill later. Couple of months fast forward, I called again to enquire about a issue I was having with my gum and they still wouldn't say if I would be covered or not. They use 'you might be covered' for most questions. The vague consent forms they make you sign in the beginning should have been a warning sign to me. Best dentist ever. I'd gone through about 5 or 6 dentists before finding Dr. Bauer. Some stopped taking my insurance and others seemed like shady mechanics. One said I had a cavity and should make an appointment to get it filled. Instead, I went to a new dentist and was told that I had great teeth (no cavities detected... weird), but horrible gums, and would have to do some sort of deep cleaning that would cost a couple hundred bills. While I do agree that my gums aren't in great shape (despite the fact that I brush and floss like a madman), I'd never had a dentist try to get me to do a deep cleaning before. Like any smart shopper I decided to get a second opinion. I've been going to Dr. Bauer for about 4 years and she hasn't tried to sell me on any extra work other than the regular bi-annual cleanings, so at this point I'll trust pretty much anything recommendation that she gives. Awesome office. Super clean. Friendly receptionist. I've never really thought about it, but now that I do I'm pretty amazed that I've never had to wait. I have been seeing Dr. Bauer since I was about 10 years old. I am 24 now! I am the rare kind who loves going to the dentist because of her and her excellent team! She is so funny and has a great skill in the linguistics of understanding tools in my mouth language. Full blown conversation! Nobody likes going to the dentist. It's a fact of life. But my visit to Dr. Bauer was by far the best, most enjoyable visit I've ever had. She was friendly, efficient, and engaging from the moment I stepped into the room and took care of my teeth quickly and easily. The dental hygienist was likewise super efficient and careful. I had a filling replaced, x-rays taken, a full exam and cleaning, and a referral to an orthodontist is around an hour and was back on my way.
