Before you think about driving to the emergency room give them a call for minor and moderate eye issues. They might be able to see you quickly. I was a next morning after reporting anomaly in the afternoon day before. The office is clean well kept and equipment is of current generation. Phoropters and slit lamps are original early 2000s installs very well maintained and kept with pristine lenses. Staff are caring and nice and handle exams quickly. Dilation waiting area was in the center but was told to go to main waiting which was a slight workflow deficiency, I will not deduct stars for workflow deficiency. Points will be deducted Appearance 90 (some corners of exam chairs have peeled paint and could use a repaint and refresh. The leather as well has cracked on some seats making a reupholstery job a favorable management decision in addition to light repainting and updating the overall offices decor. It feels like it's stuck in 2004) Staff 100 (absolute gems of staff here. Very caring and patient even with rather sketchy eye control in cerebral palsy exam. A CP exam can take up to 70% more time than a standard exam. Here a CP exam takes averaged across five exams approximately 20% longer than a standard persons exam which is impressive efficiency with high complexity care.) Equipment 100 (while cosmetic issues exist such as peeling paint actual equipment is kept in pristine condition and works as expected. In fact the auto diagnostic machine was so clean I plopped my head down and they said "hang on hang on I haven't even wiped it yet!" Your fault for it looking perfectly ready!) Workflow 85 (this one was the hardest to deduct for. They had a central interior waiting room with no windows for dilating patients. Instead they had everyone waiting in main today. Not sure if this was due to the water issue in the building or if this was a workflow defect. Will follow up next exam and remind them of proper use of the dilation room to avoid over irritation of patient eyes during the wait and to improve COVID-19 distancing for patients by keeping dilating patients away from the main waiting to protect them while eyes are in a more vulnerable state.) With patience and a thorough examination, Dr. Pouyat was able to achieve a vast improvement in my vision using scleral contact lenses. One eye, which the ophthalmologist had declared a "lazy eye" that would never have clear vision is now as good as the better eye. I am amazed at the fantastic results! I have been having eye issues and I can't thank the Johnson Eye Care team for being so patient and focused on helping me. I have been wearing glasses since I have been a kid and was extremely impressed with how sophisticated all of the equipment their equipment was. It's extremely professional and was able to get to the root of the issues with my issue while Dr Schoepke did a deep look into what I have going on. Being that I am a very technical person ... I was geeking out with all the gear the have ( can you tell ). Oh btw no Air blowing in your eyes here to check your pressure... on top of it Dr Schoepke said those tests are no very reliable. Here's the deal... a year ago I was told from sketchy Dr in the western suburbs that I have a rare eye issue and I would have to go to Canada to stop for going blind in the future. I was relieved that this is not true and the issue I have just needs to be monitored. I have had a weight on my shoulders since that last visit.... I can believe I waited this long. To top it off the they have a great selection of glasses and Mary was extremely helpful picking out the right frames for me. Big thank you to the Johnson Eye care Team. Let me start by saying I read my insurance policy on my insurance website and then booked the appointment through my insurance provider saying this location was covered in my insurance network. I knew before arriving my insurance plan covered contacts and glasses. When I asked the front desk staff she looked at me and said "most people only get glasses or contacts so just pick out glasses as the best bang for your buck." Cool, so I pick out my glasses. As I'm doing so she pulls up my plan and tells me I have coverage for neither contacts or glasses. I try to explain to her that I work for a multi billion dollar pharmaceutical company and I'm definitely covered. I proceed to take out my company phone and look up my coverage again; where it tells me I'm covered. I look at my paycheck where I've been paying for eye insurance all year. I'm throughly confused. The two other front desk staff proceed to sing and mess around while I try to talk to the other women that thinks I came here with no insurance. The receptionist is the only person helping by calling my insurance company. After getting everything cleared up and experiencing what was the most unprofessional experience in a doctors office. I get my bill. Guess what I was covered for glasses and contact. Next time don't walk up to the customer and tell them that they are not covered until after you've called their insurance agency. My wife had to go for a 2nd opinion to an optomologist and her prescription ended up being wrong and had to reorder more glasses elsewhere for her. I did not like the doctor as he was not listening to me at all and said that's your prescription and it will be fine and rushed us out. He seemed like a know it all and pampas. I came to pick up my glasses and could not focus with either pair I ordered. The staff tried to clean the lenses and adjusting the nose piece but still was not helping. They told me to go home and try it for a week and they would call me to check up on me, but if they had to remake them they would not help me as it would still be the same prescriptions. NEVER got a follow up call. I feel like they did not listen to me at all during the exam and after. I trusted them and now I feel that I was swindled and the glasses are unusable garbage. DO NOT TRUST THEM. I do not want any communications with them EVER.
