We have eaten here twice, and gotten the same order both times. The owners are so genuinely sweet and welcoming. They are a pleasure to speak to on the phone and just as wonderful in the restaurant at pickup. Menu is a little pricey. Two entrees cost us about $30. Note- cash only, and you need to specify if you want chop sticks. I had chicken pad thai (level 3 heat the first time and level 4 the second). It is very fresh, with a generous amount of quality white meat chicken. It's a bit sweet for my taste (made with red onions, instead of white, and sweetness in the sauce), and it's a more dry version, but it is still delicious! I will likely get a level 5 next time... I like a good level of heat! Usually a level 3-4 is good for me at a thai place, but the 4 was still a little light. My husband got the beef spicy rad nah, which is served in two containers - one for the noodles and one for the sauce. He got spice level 2 the first time and 3 the second. He said he'd likely get 4 the next time, although he has really enjoyed the dish both times. Vegetables are bright and crisp, and the beef is great quality. Pro-tip: adding a little of the rad nah sauce on the pad thai skyrocketed it! :) Really great place that we will visit again! read more

Simply Thai is simply AMAZING! As a big foodie who grew up eating various types of flavorful Asian foods, I really enjoyed Simply Thai. Since this was my first time to this restaurant, I really liked how the menu included photos. When you order, they ask you what spicy level you want your food, which I thought was very neat. I've never had that option at other restaurants. I had ordered the Pad See Ew and it was amazing. I ate the whole plate in about 5 minutes. It was simply delicious! There was so much savory goodness, I honestly wish I could have had more. The dish had a perfect amount of sauce. I've had Thai noodle dishes that were either too dry or drenched in sauce, I was very happy with the perfect balance. If you're extremely hungry like I was from a long day, I might suggest ordering more food because splitting an appetizer and having this dish did not make me full until I was in pain. But thinking about this dish makes me crave it! I'm so sad I don't have a place like this in my hometown! I would totally recommend this restaurant to anyone. The food was below average and the place did not look clean at all. Soup was way too oily and the rest were just meh. Two of the serving staff were very kind but a third one refused to give us a menu acting like it was the weirdest thing to ask in a restaurant! (A fellow customer gave it to us at the end) Oh, and the bowls the soup was served in were severely chipped and broken around the edges. Wonderful Thai restaurant. Stopped while in town visiting family for a quick lunch and we were very happy. The service is good and the food was great! I had drunken noodles and it was excellent. Our meals came out quickly and were cooked to perfection with exactly the right spiciness. They have a 0-5 scale and we both got 3 - it was awesome! It's in a quaint older building that reminds me of an old drugstore with a soda fountain. There's not much ambiance, but it's clean, wide open and comfortable. read more

Wow! I've been here for a year and have been reluctant to try this place. Usually Thai food is either great or not. There never seems to be any in-between. Well, have no fear here. This place has great food! I had the chicken Pad Thai with a spice rating of 3 (they ask you how spicy you'd like it on a scale of 1-5). It only took a few fork-fulls before my scalp started to sweat. It was fantastic! Incredibly flavorful as well. The portion was more than enough to leave you with some tasty leftovers if you choose not to motor through the entire dish. I also had an appetizer. It was the steamed chicken dumplings. Now, usually when I order steamed dumplings from a Chinese restaurant they always come out chewy and doughy. Not here. These dumplings were perfect. I should mention this was a pick-up order. When I called to place my order the woman on the phone was very nice and actually repeated my order back to me (correctly, I might add). When I went in to pick it up I was immediately greeted with a warm smile, by a very nice man, asking if I was there for a pick up. They had it ready for me. It was the same woman who answered the phone that took care of me at the register. She was very lovely and informed me that there would be a few percent charge for credit and debit cards (note: cash is still king :2). All in all, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves Thai food. The inside looks very nice so I think next time I'll do a sit-in meal. Thank goodness I've got a gym membership. Exquisite Thai food that not only pleases the palate, it also pleases the esthetic eye. Everything is clean, and fresh, and you are warmly welcomed. I keep coming back here, and usually the food and service are consistently excellent. You can choose your level of spiciness. I can never pick any one favorite, so I like to come with friends and family, pick a number of dishes and share. Though I pretty much always make sure a vegetable green curry is among the dishes chosen. I realllllly don't understand how this place has such great ratings. I've been to a lot of Thai restaurants, but this is mediocre at best, not worth going back to. We got take out, tom yum soup, which was overly fishy in taste, and nowhere near similar to any other tom yum soups I've had (not even spicy) spicy basil noodles with beef, beef was extremely over cooked/difficult to chew, flavors were eh. Spicy eggplant dinner. the eggplant itself was tasty, the rest of the dish not so much, fresh rolls were okay spring rolls were good can't remember if we got potstickers or dumplings, something like that, they were also okay. If this place were much cheaper without improving their food I'd possibly go back. Preferably I'd like to go back to better food and the prices could stay the same if they food it that good. If I could give this place 3.5 stars, I would, since I'm really torn. First and foremost, if you ask, they will actually make your food spicy, which I appreciated tremendously. I ordered the fresh rolls to start, which were perfectly good. For entrees I ordered the spicy eggplant, which was extremely flavorful but also lacking in eggplant (I think there were only 3 small pieces in the entire dish). If there had been more eggplant in it, it would have easily been a five star dish; but to name something after a vegetable and then skimp on that vegetable seemed to be a weird choice. I also ordered the green curry which was good, but not great. It was genuinely spicy, which I appreciated; however the other flavors were a little bit underemphasized. Either way, this place had enough promise that I will definitely be back to try other dishes and explore the options. I think Simply Thai is the only thai place in town so there isn't very much competition. Although, in the various "chinese" restaurants in town, they do have thai dishes on their menus. By far, Simply Thai, is actually a very good thai restaurant, and in Oneonta, it is probably the best Asian food that you are going to get. The food is spot on with the right flavors, they give good portions, and the presentation is nice. They have pretty good lunch deals. When I innocently commented on this to the waitress when she asked how everything is, she defensively told me I could "purchase" some extra vegetables. I've been to Simply Thai a few times and I've never been disappointed. The staff are always super nice and the food is always delicious. The food is always quick to come out and there's a great variety. They have a spice scale that they ask when taking your order. One being very mild and five very spicy. If it's your first time going I recommend trying a 2 or 3 unless you're good with spice. My personal favorite dishes are their assortments of curry. For being the only Thai restaurant in Oneonta, its pretty decent considering the lack of available fresh Thai ingredients in the area. I'm super picky about my Thai food and I can say that I've had worse at other places in Saratoga Springs. My husband and I had the duck pineapple curry special which was 14.95 and was pretty tasty. The only downside is that they don't have a liquor license yet.
