    Hush puppies to go
    Laura G.

I only have pictures of our leftover hush puppies, but I KNOW I will be back to order more in the future. We were driving by and my daughter said she was hungry so I pulled in and placed a to go order. We had a dog with us in the car and she said we should sit at the picnic tables and let her run around on the side. So we did. The restaurant is so cute, quaint and inviting. And the workers were so nice. We ended up getting hush puppies, dried okra, and two crab cake sandwiches. I was so impressed with how fresh and delicious the crab cakes were. Soooo good. WILL BE BACK!

    7 Dollar Breakfast

I've lived in this area for years and I can't believe I've never stopped by here. This is a cute little roadside restaurant serving southern classics. I got the 7 dollar breakfast, and it was very good. Eggs were cooked to perfection and the grits were delicious. The biscuits and the sausage were a bit cold, which is the only thing preventing me from giving this 5 stars. The food came out very quickly and the server was helpful and nice.

    Fried Chicken Livers

The food was delicious, especially fried chicken platter. Crispy skin but the meat was juicy. A corn bread was delicious. We wanted to try dessert too but the waitress gave us the bill while we were half way into our dinner. Maybe the desserts were sold out? We wouldn't never know.

Fried chicken 3 pieces with hushpuppies and collard green

We came here for lunch. It's a cute little restaurant. I like the decor of the place. I ordered Fried chicken 3 pieces with hushpuppies and collard green. I like that they lightly sprinkle salt on the hushpuppies to enhance the sweetness. The fried chicken was cooked perfectly and still juicy. Blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream was perfect to end the meal. The warm blueberry filling and the cold vanilla ice cream complimented each other. The staff are friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this place.

We stopped by for a quick lunch on our road trip. Location is just off the highway. Service was excellent. Food was what I call "white bread." My tacos were filled with unseasoned chicken breast, dried out cheddar cheese, iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes. Where's the cilantro or salsa? The tacos were accompanied by a cup of wonderfully flavorful black beans and a cup of over cooked Spanish white rice. My Hubbie had the meatloaf melt sandwich with mashed potatoes which was hearty and wonderful. Side of green beans was lackluster.

As a southerner and someone with basic cooking skills I'm insulted. The best part of my meal was the hush puppies. The tea was bitter and watered down. The chicken wasn't seasoned. Also all the sides were canned or pre-made. Don't say southern if your mac and cheese is stoffers, and the collards are canned. Excuse me but as someone who makes both from scratch run like forest Gump away from this sad excuse for Southern. Cracker Barel is better than this place.

Excellent meal and very nice staff. The fried chicken and the shrimp dinners were hits with our family. A great value.

He was initially warm and as we ordered, asked that he let us know if we inadvertently selected a dish containing pork. The dishes arrived with astonishing speed. The Caesar salad had some unidentified fried object on it and when I asked the waiter, he let me know it was pork rinds. He did not acknowledge that it was an error and flippantly suggested I remove them. I asked for a plate to put them on. The waiter's demeanor turned cold after this (what I considered innocuous) exchange. Regarding the dishes, everything was beautifully presented and arrived hot and fresh at our table. I would not recommend the fried cauliflower as it was very bland with some chili sauce splashed over top. The scallops were very well prepared however. NC Coast is a nice spot for a special meal, especially with the view. Just hope the service is more consistent with other guests.

We had the pleasure of getting our order done my Heather N. who greeted the guest before us pleasantly "Good morning what can I get for you all?" and then us, a group of 4 girls, with "I'll take whoever's next" with an agitated tone. My friend, who worked there before, prefaced we had a person in our group that had a severe peanut allergy so that when ordering the fan favorite, we could have the peanut ones substituted. Thinking that was a simple ask, Heather then asked my friend to read them off one by one because she in her words "I don't know all the donuts on the menu". My friend then started to list off the donuts. She then said "slow down honey" my friend showed down, then "your going too fast" my friend slowed down even more. At some point Heather decided to take the menu from my friend, then to make it straitened out slammed it in the counter, I think to show how annoyed she was with us. We ask for a second dozen and she then does the same thing. My friends say again, nothing with peanuts because of the allergy. And we complete our order. We head over to the pick up area and then double check the receipt to make sure there's nothing with peanuts butter on it. There was in fact a donut with peanut butter in there. We went up to the ones preparing the donuts and they actually had it done, which was amazing but we had to ask for the one dozen to be redone. As someone who was really looking forward to trying my friend's favorite donut place, this truly was a disappointment.
