We stopped in on our way to OBX and were not disappointed! I was a little wary of my girlfriend getting the grilled shrimp instead of fried, but they came out really well. Best fried chicken sandwich ever! Very reasonable prices!! Super friendly staff - I wish I had a picture to post. The chicken was super crunchy. it was brined in pickle juice and the bread was not a boring hamburger bun but a high-end brioche bun. And it looks slightly toasted? Amazing! The menu is simple in with great country style food. I had the country fried steak and it was just wonderful full of flavor with a nice portion. I wife wanted something off to dinner menu they accommodated her with a double Porkchop meal that was just outstanding she said. Another in our party had the chicken livers lunch, enjoyed that it was outstanding also. The place is clean service was great prices are reasonable. A must stop on the road to and from OBX. My green beans were very tasty, the shrimp were crispy and the hushpuppies were very good with the honey butter. The waitresses were efficient and the food came out quickly. We came to NC for 26th anniversary and decided to stop at a cute little restaurant . The cook or owner who ever he was came out gave us menu. My husband said good morning now grant it it was after 1130 am and this manager brought the menus and said it's afternoon now and if looked at your clock or something you can see that!! Firstly, I have to give a shout out to Brandy our fast dealing, no nonsense efficient waitress who could probably recite the entire menu from memory alphabetically. She was amazing in her courteous pleasant manner. The portions are very generous. The flavors superb. The teen diners said, "amazing, so good, Dad this is so delicious". So I dare say that even the most finiky of teen/child eaters will find something they enjoy. We ate the popcorn shrimp, the BBQ plate, the lunch burger, the Salisbury steak and the Cajun Tuna Cesar salad special. The value for your dollar is outstanding. My tuna was perfectly cooked to order and was the most most expensive item at $10! We will definitely return for another meal. We left full and truly satisfied. read more

Specifically drove 1 1/2 hours from Edenton yesterday just to come out to eat at your restaurant. There was one table full and the rest of the place was empty. I waited for 15 minutes to get waited on. There were employees in the back shooting the breeze and they saw me and my wife waiting but never came to take us to a table. I wasted my afternoon doing this. Not again. I have been a regular customer and driven just to have a good meal there a bunch of times. I will only stop if I am close by next time. Stopped by here for take-out after a day at the water park. SO glad we did. We ordered a hamburger (1/2 lb) with cheddar and bacon and the Jumbo Shrimp dinner. Subbed fried okra for the fries since the burger also came with fries. Got a side of Mac and cheese for the kids. Everything was so good. Hush puppies came with a sweet butter (maybe honey butter?), the fried okra was on point, and the jumbo shrimp dinner was both plentiful AND the shrimp were pretty big. I was a little hesitant to order a "jumbo shrimp" dinner because sometimes you get maybe 4 shrimp and I was worried it wouldn't be enough. Between my big-portion eating husband, my two kids (6 & 3) and me, we ordered plenty. The shrimp had a slight kick/spiciness to them that really made this shrimp dinner memorable.
