The worst place to store a rv they are bold face liars.8The web site said they have cameras covering every inch of the property not true. They dont even lock the gate for people to walk right in. My camper and 2 others were broken into and basically they said to bad. We told them about the gate that has no lock and they said they know about it and 2 days later there still is no lock. I opened up a unit this past winter because I was moving to a new home and needed a place to store my excess items. The price is high, but I was willing to pay it for a climate controlled, indoor unit. We continued to make multiple trips/month until about April when my home sold. We made a trip out in mid June and everything was fine. I made another trip in mid July and upon opening my unit noticed a strong smell of mildew. Upon further investigation I found that the entire back right portion of my unit was full of mildew and wet. We notified the manager who said she would contact the district manager. We moved our untouched items to another unit but left the ruined ones. I came back the next day (when it was raining) and took a video of the rain coming through the roof and onto my stuff. I still continued to hear nothing from the district manager and reached out to corporate the last week of July. I still have heard nothing despite it being a month later. In summary, if you're looking for a quality place to store your items don't go here. Not only do they have roof leaks that ruin your indoor, climate controlled items, but they are uncommunicative and unwilling to make restitution after. read more

My husband and I rented a unit with Simply storage in Valparasio for about 6 year. We left because we did not need the space any longer. We were always so impressed with the cleanliness of our unit and the company took good care of the whole facility. Friendly staff also. I would recommend this place. read more

Pros: Clean, climate controlled, and as secure as these kind of places can be. But you get that with more professional storage places. Cons: They price gouge. The rent on our little 5x10 unit has increased by 52%(!) in 3 years ago. Every 3-6 months they increase your rent. Sometimes you get a letter citing cost of utilities, or a new owner... but most of the time, it just shows up on your auto-payment with no notice. We went from $70 to $107/mo. in the blink of an eye. No contracts, so you can lock in a price. I'm too lazy to clean out my unit right now, but not too lazy to warn others... go somewhere else. There are tons of these places around... there is nothing special here, and their unethical business practice is reason enough to look around. read more

I had 2 units. Price started out at $130.00 per month. 5 months later price was $190.00 per month. They kept increasing prices, unbelievable . Anyways next issue: i found both of my units missing items. STOLEN/BURGLARY‼ I called the Valparaiso Police Department and made a report 1/2/2021. I had expensive items just disappear. One unit had a snow cleaning machine and a generator missing. The other had expensive silverware and other bits. The security cameras here are USELESS. My new house closing was just around the corner and i could not wait to get what's left of my stuff out of there. I am in the process of making insurance claims BUT the policy only covers like $2000.00 per unit and the items that were stolen were above this limit . So i finally closed on the house and came to grab the remaining items from these units today 3/6/2021. My jaw dropped when i opened one of the units and saw my huge Craftsman tool box filled with tools GONE AGAIN! Again i called the Valpo Pd and made another burglary report! Simply Storage just says call insurance and make a claim. What about all the money that i have already paid for renting these units? What about my loses? STAY AWAY! They price gouge like crazy! The previous owners were reasonable in their prices. It has always been a clean, secure place. But when my storage costs went up from $100 per month, to $165 per month, that's it. I'll be packing my things and looking for somewhere else to store. Very greedy, this corporation. read more

The price of this place is affordable and convenient compared to other storage units in the area, however BEWARE that they can increase your monthly rent without providing sufficient notice. For the past six months they have been charging me a set price that was stated in the contract and then decided to increase my rent in the recent two months. I did not notice at first because I have autopay. I reviewed the contract and it stated that they can increase the rent if they provide notice within 30 days of the increase. I called the store and the woman over the phone told me that their idea of notice was sending a POST CARD with fine print stating that the rent will increase. THIS IS NOT SUFFICIENT NOTICE. There was no email, no signed letter, nor any phone call informing me that my rent was to increase. For this reason, this place gets 1 star only because I do not have the option to give 0 stars. read more
