When you want it done right, particularly if you don't know exactly what "right" is. Minh replaced my electrical panel, all of the breakers, and installed new 240V circuits for two multi-zone mini-splits and and induction cooktop. Mihn is highly qualified and does outstanding work. He has extensive industrial electrical work experience, and it shows. He is an electrical engineer and knows electrical theory, as well as the latest NEC code. He has the extensive tool set needed for doing a high-quality job. For example, he has separate torque wrenches, pre-set and labeled, for Tesla PowerWall and for breakers by amp size. Measured tightness is particularly important for high current circuits, like Tesla, since connections can loosen and arc over time as they repeatedly heat up and cool down. I did find most others would do it for less. But it was not clear what "it" would be, or even who would actually do the work. My experience is that many "electricians" are trained "on the job", by others who were trained "on the job". Regarding work quality, they feel if the inspector doesn't catch it, then it is fine. If there is no inspection, then anything is fine, like multiple connections to a single breaker. In particular, breakers are typically just tightened to "what feels right", without using the required torque wrench. Minh quotes the work, and does it himself. I didn't have to micro-manage the work to ensure that the job was done right. read more

This review is a bit late however I reached out to Minh via recommendation from another friend who had electric work done. I was moving into a new place that desperately needed recessed lighting and some minor adjustment and additions. Minh came by shortly after and was incredibly helpful in mapping out all the areas and provided recommendations on how and where the light cans would be most effective. After the quote was provided he was extremely flexible in adding/removing whatever we had requested. In total we installed close to 40 or so recessed lights and added a handful of switches. Minh and his crew worked incredibly fast and got the work done faster than originally estimated so that we could have other contractors come in and do interior paint. Minh went above and beyond in some instances and crawled into narrow areas in the attic and walls to get the switches wired where we wanted them to be. Although Simply Electric wasn't the cheapest quote we got, they were still really well priced and well worth the professionalism and expertise Minh and his team brought. I've also contacted Minh for other work after and in some cases he's turned down work in areas which he thought the scope was too big for his team. We had him back in early 2023 to do the other half of the job (the harder part). Both times, nothing but amazing service. Working in a 110-year-old house means everything has a mystery to solve. Minh did a fantastic job upgrading our electrical panel from an old 100 amp unit to a 200 amp solar ready unit. In evaluating the project, he was very upfront on the challenges (larger box, elevation need on intake wires, San Jose and PG&E coordination, permitting) and submitted a competitive bid. Once work was underway, we actually encountered three delays from PG&E; two of them were last minute cancellations with Minh's team waiting for them to show. Every delay added more weeks to the project. Even though this project would have been ideally done in 6 weeks, it ended up taking close to 6 months. I had Minh out a few weeks ago to assess a problem with my stove as well as some other issues with a few exterior fixtures. He spent a good deal of time repeating the diagnosis in the kitchen. Over and over again. He hemmed and hawed about fixing the exterior fixtures although I had purchased two new fixtures in case they were necessary. All told, he gave me an estimate for the problem in the kitchen and replaced one gfi for over $600. It felt like he was looking for reasons to not do anything. I called out another electrician a couple of weeks later. The difference was startling. He quickly diagnosed the kitchen problem & said he would send me an estimate. No wasting time on repeating the diagnosis. He assessed the exterior issues to determine if it was wiring or the fixtures and quickly determined it was the fixtures. No hemming and hawing, no wasting time. He assessed, explained, and fixed. All told, he diagnosed the kitchen problem and replaced 4 fixtures for $500.
