It's based solely on the booking process. I was able to book an appointment on Sunday for Monday morning, but they called early Monday and said they couldn't make it until Tuesday. That caused me to miss out on other companies that had Monday availability and wasted valuable time on something we needed done as soon as possible. They need to get their scheduling system figured out.

The tech called and said it would be $850 plus $95 service fee so I called a friend who owns a company 150 miles away and said what should this cost to have my unit cleaned . He said $99-$175! ‍ So I put on Facebook any recommendations and got a one man show company that came and cleaned for $99 and no service charge fee. ‍‍‍ I do have to say when I called SOS to cancel my appointment to repair they waived the service charge fee after looking at my scenario so the company does have some good employees.

Very negative side is parts price gouging and almost usury!…read more Initially, the service tech quoted me over $400 to replace a 75 MFD start capacitor for an AC compressor. This capacitor can be purchased for about $35! Later, determined the capacitor was within specification, but the compressor was locked up, so told me he could unlock the compressor with a "hard start", which he did and that unlocked the compressor to get the unit working again. During check out, he said he's keep the price for the "hard start" the same as the quoted price for the 75 MFD capacitor, a bit over $400. After paying and the tech leaving, I search online and found the "hard start" is about the same price as the capacitor, even a bit lower. Doesn't require much of a math mind to figure out the margins they are making and feeling taken advantage of when desperate! Predatory behavior!

In the end he suggested we use mini splits which saves us over a thousand dollars upfront as well as utilities cost as we only need cool one room when it's being used. One of the units had issues after a week and when we called him back, he came right out no questions asked and fixed it. He didn't charge us a dime and it's been working great since! The second time we called was when our heater went out. He came out and first looked to see if he could fix it. When he couldn't, he didn't just say yup it's broken, he showed me the problem and explained in detail what's wrong and why it needs to be replaced. Again the process was the same as last time. Gave me options and up front pricing. Explained each unit never steering me toward one product. It was a cold week and he squeezed us in 2 days and offered to let us use space heaters until it was installed. Lastly he cleans up his mess. We had actually called someone else when looking to add A/C and had them clean out our vents and they left a huge mess and lost 2 big jobs. Barwick wont do that to you. This also means they will react fast, which doesn't typically happen in this business. The owner seems to not like to keep people waiting while it's hot with their air broken or too cold with their heat broken. I called the Heating and Cooling Guys and I had an appointment within 24 hours. I actually was late coming home for the appointment and despite me being an hour late, they still came out once I actually got home. The owner was the individual that came out and he found the issue very quickly. He also fixed it that night! The air conditioning was up and working very quickly. He was so nice about everything, worked late to get me taken care of, and had an awesome attitude at the same time. I would highly recommend the Heating and Cooling Guys.
