Jeff of Simon's Auto Werks of Pacifica, CA was our go to auto mechanic. He was knowledgeable about all our automotive needs. But we moved out of the area. We returned to the Bay Area, in Clayton, CA. We could not find as great and honest mechanic. We now drive from Clayton to Pacifica, so we can have Jeff handle our major automotive repair needs, and he is worth the trip. Jeff doesn't make a mole hill into a mountain. He tells you your options. He doesn't try to push you. He has told me, when I asked about having my brakes done due to squeaking, I have about 5,000 miles before i needed to replace the brakes. A lot of mechanics would just have done the brakes. Another time, at 95,000 miles, I needed some service done, and he suggested going to 100,000 miles and doing all the service needed at the 100,000 mile recommended service level. Jeff doesn't try to push you to get things done earlier, as long as you can safely wait. More than anything, you know you can thoroughly trust what Jeff tells you about your car repair needs. Jeff, one of the mechanics there, is one of the most honest, reliable mechanics I've ever worked with. Their team helped to replace my catalytic converter when it was stolen in San Francisco. I literally had triple A tow me all the way to Pacifica just so that I could work with them specifically. If you want a no frills, straightforward and thorough job, I'd highly recommend going here. Jeff was able to help create a custom cage that they welded around the new catalytic converter to avoid future theft because my car doesn't fit the standard cat shield. I went in for an oil change and transmission service this week, both were long overdue, and they fixed my signal, replaced the battery in my fob key, and swapped my rusted license plate frames for new ones, all at no extra charge. That saved me the hassle of doing these things myself when time allowed...and who knows when that would have been. These folks did work on my car in January 2022. The day after I picked the car up, it blew a head gasket on the freeway. Now the engine is being replaced. They claim they had nothing to do with it which is completely incorrect. I am told it is very likely that they did the damage. Now I have to sue them to get back the $4000 that the new engine costs. This car has been well maintained since I bought it 10 years ago (brand New). I am disgusted that they claim no responsibility. We shall see. read more

It's really nice to have an established relationship with an honest mechanic. He's doing some work on my truck now and even though he doesn't do smog certification he's offered to take my truck to a place that does and bring it back to his garage so that when I pick it up I'll have the smog cert and all the work done. Jeff is The MAN! In fact, every mechanic there is worth their salt and super friendly to boot. They've done pretty regular work on my '01 Dodge Ram cuz, well, it's an '01 Dodge Ram and needs it! Not the most trustworthy vehicle but I love it and these guys are as trustworthy as they come. For all the various little hiccups that occur they're always available to hear me out, then do the work in less time than quoted. No matter who I speak to, they listen attentively and make notes about every little thing, then call me back immediately with an estimate...which [knock wood] is usually less than I end up paying. When my electric door locks went out they took the doors apart and found each motor needed replacing, at $250 per that was out of the question! But they didn't charge me for looking into it. They know their stuff, don't BS you, do great work in minimal time, and if you're lucky enough to be there when he is, you just might get to practice a few karate kicks with Jeff's young son, Orson! These guys are great. It's hard to find good and trustworthy mechanics - Simon's fits the bill. Jeffery in particular is fantastic. He's done extensive work and helps with small things, always the same great experience. For example, i bought a used pickup and purchased all the parts for a tuneup and stopped by. They were very busy at the time and i didn't have an appt. Jeffery asked what i wasn't entirely comfortable doing myself for the tuneup, then took the time to gap my spark plugs and install them properly and sent me on my way with a vote of confidence to do the rest, but made sure to let me know i can come back if i ran into any issues. The prices are very fair and they never try to rack up extra work if its not truly needed, they've even helped me save in areas over time. Highly recommend them! They've worked on my Subaru, Truck and Scooter. No job too big or small. read more

Honestly, have not had my car worked on here but he fixed my bike!! I have a sweet old school Beach Cruiser Bike that I took into town... only moments on the street I ended up with flats!!!!!! I wheeled into his shop area and asked if I could use their air pump and he dropped everything he was doing to help me out! He checked my tire pressures, the hole and then filled up both tires for free. I guess the guy's name was Jeff, awesome Asian guy with stylish hair! Went in for a brake job, got charged 800$, then the next week my brand new brakes are already squeaking. Got a new water pump cost $480, now my radiator cracked, new radiator $600!? This Jeffrey guy really try's to milk every last penny outta you... Went and got my own radiator from O'reilly's cost $113, brought the radiator in to the good guys at FMC auto repair around the corner in Pacifica, and they installed it for $200. $313 for a new radiator out the door... wonder where they got that $600 number from...? Jeffrey and the team have always been fabulous. They will often check little things for free as a goodwill gesture and they try to save you money when they can. When I had an issue with my Subaru's oil filter, they did some monitoring , gave me advice on how to handle the issue directly with the dealership so that I might get the services paid for by Suburu (it was a wide-scale issue that Suburu was handling) They are also very quick - I can get my car back same day for most things (even when they had to replace axels!) . Much cheaper than dealership for sure. But most importantly, I really trust these guys. read more
