Yelp! I like Simone's. We are a party of 5, being served by Natasha. We are greeted upon entry and provided with a water beverage. Simone's is a cool vibe with nice music and a plethora of seating, nobody's here, oh it's Tuesday night. Well the Gal-friends are here for this food! We ordered most of the available apps, 2 Brussels, 1 Southwest egg rolls, 1buffalo chicken egg rolls and fried green tomatoes. Whoa! These folks giving out a lot of food. These Apps are huge. The egg rolls and Brussels live up to their reputation. No, to those fried green tomatoes. We already full! But these pork chops calling me. I guess they calling all of us. 4 of us got pork chops, only one order of grilled. Sides were 3 side salads, Mac and cheese and okra. Walker got hot honey lemon pepper wings and fries. Everything good! Everything seasoned! Fries were added to one of the Mac and cheese orders. The chef came out to offer apologies and express to enjoy them on the house. We did! Y'all already know, when I'm made happy, I'LL BE BACK!!!

Simone's doesn't miss! Everything is always fresh and flavorful. I've been a longtime supporter, before the restaurant and food trucks and she's been consistently good over the years. I love her creativity and business sense, I feel that she has been a major asset to the food truck community's burst on the scene here in the city. Her restaurant is a whole vibe and hosts weekly themed nights/events (Brunch Day Party on Saturdays, Bingo Nights, Soul Food Sundays). I've heard due to the popularity, wait times can be over 30-45 minutes. I've never experienced this personally though. This is one of my favorite female and minority owned businesses in the city. I highly recommend you to check them out!

Nice little spot in Center Point, AL. Warmly greeted upon walking in. Our server was friendly and answered my many questions, first time visiting. Side salad was crisp and fresh. Pork chops and okra were fried to perfection, not greasy, had the right amount of crunch and flavorful. Will visit again. My only complaint is the music was a little too loud. Other than that m, it's a great spot with delicious food.

Chill ambiance and atmosphere. Seating too close to other customers. Wait for food was too long as we ate in the restaurant for the Sunday Brunch. We all (3) loved our food. When it arrived it was fresh and hot.

My daughter and I were on a quest to try a new soul food restaurant and ended up at Simone's Kitchen. First, there is ample parking available, plus handicapped accessibility. We were there on a Wednesday, so things were somewhat slow, which was good for us. Upon entering, we were told to seat ourselves, nice. Nice vibe with a lounge feel on a Wednesday evening. Definitely a place to meet friends for drinks or a date night. The service was friendly and personable. Our orders were taken and food served quickly. We ordered, Brussel sprouts, fried okra and macaroni and cheese. By far, the BEST brussel sprouts that I have ever had! That sweet smoky sauce that they were cooked in really went well with the firm but soft brussel sprouts. The okra was fried to perfection, not too hard or soft. I don't think, I've ever had a Mac and cheese this cheesy. This is the perfect dish for cheese lovers. However, it was a bit too salty for me. Oh yeah, the strawberry lemonade was a hit! Just enough sweet and sour. I would definitely go back. We plan on going back for the brunch.

This spot is new and popular! I visited by default on a Friday afternoon for lunch. And yes, it was busy!! Honestly, I almost left because of the wait and the menu. The staff was engaged and informative so this made me just see it through. I ordered the hot honey lemon pepper(4) whole wings with fries-$16. I have a confession: I DO NOT LIKE WHOLE WINGS!!! And I didn't like these either. So you're probably wondering why I got them....I tried them because nothing else stood out to me. Now , the flavor is out of this world! I could drink that wing sauce! Hahaha! The fries were very good and fresh. The location is a vibe for sure. It's very spacious and seems to be a great addition to the area. The late night hours are a plus as well! I plan to comeback to try their Soul food Sunday menu.

My first time here and I had a great experience. The server was very nice and friendly. I ordered one piece of catfish but she suggested to get the $5 one because it's a dollar more and you get 2. But the food OMG! It was delicious and so fresh! The catfish was so hot and has the right amount of crunch. The pasta was definitely my favorite, i couldn't eat it was because i got full just from the salmon and pasta. It was all seasoned just right. I will be returning!

Didn't get food. Came for a drink, service was fast. Drink was refreshingly strong and tasty. Ambiance gave elegance with a homey vibe. Will try food next time.

Was the drive worth it? Absolutely!!! There is a reason this is the #1 black owned restaurant in Birmingham. I had the creole queso dip & the pasta trio and this has easily been the best thing I've eaten in Birmingham and it's no hole in the wall. I sat at the bar, Tasha was my server/bartender and she was GREAT. I'm only mad that I couldn't try something from they brunch menu (I was here on Friday), but I will definitely be back soon!

Today is my birthday so why not post a birthday food review. I got the chance to check out Simone's Kitchen and Cocktails (last week) and here's how my visit went. Walked in decorations were nice well painted loved the mural of the restaurant. I did a call in order and was told it would be ready at 5:15pm (it was not). It took probably another 15 minutes or so but I wasn't stressing. I will wait for good food. One employee I guess was late for her shift came in loud and cursing. Personally not something I'd do in front of a customer but hey didn't bother me. I guess she felt comfortable. So I got my food and headed back home. First up was the Hot Honey Lemon Pepper Wings. Yall these things were pure fire! Seasoned well and the sauce was a banger! I don't often lick my fingers but I was not letting that sauce go to waste. I would legit buy a bottle of that sauce alone. The only down part is I couldn't taste the lemon pepper but I don't even care them wings was too good! 9.8/10 I also got Wings on the Bayou which was just whole fried wings and a sweet and spicy sauce on the side. Aye look them wings were seasoned perfectly and were definitely crunchy and not soggy somebody auntie was back there with the arm fat. I had completely forgot I even had the sauce. I ate them without it lol. 10/10 Then we have the Jerk Chicken Egg Rolls. This was by far my least favorite. The egg rolls were hot and crunchy but the inside fell flat. Bland and very dry. But when I dipped it into the jerk sauce stuff on the side it truly saved it for me. Without the sauce 5/10 with the sauce brought it to a solid 8/10 yes the sauce was that good and carrying it. The fries were just fries. They had some sort of seasoning but it was bland and couldn't taste whatever it was. I just dipped them in the ranch they gave me with the chicken and moved on. 5/10 Now I had no idea they made their own lemonade blends until I got there. The lady at the counter said at that time they had two flavors so I bought both. The first one was some sort of mango lemondae. I am not a fan of mangos so for me to say this was good means a lot and it gets a 8/10 a mango person would probably give it a 10/10. And the pink one I can't remember what flavor it was idk if it was strawberry or what but it was by far my favorite. Easy 10/10 if they sold this by the gallon I'd definitely buy it! All in all my experience was great I enjoyed my food and definitely plan to go back and get more wings and that lemondae. I hope to make it to the brunch one day as well. Yall go check this place out for me support this local black owned business they are putting out great food and deserve to be supported.

The food was seasoned well, but it was a little bit on the greasy side. Also, the waitress was a bit unprofessional.

I remember going to Marty's PM all the time when I was in my 20's after a shift. So I was shocked to see the banner one day when I was picking up some Chinese take-away for lunch. First of all let me tell you this is a Safe Space for LGBTQ people. Sarah, Leslie, and Austin are legends. The whole staff is so sweet and the people are really friendly. There's another really cute guy who tends bar and I am so bad with names it kills me. I popped in a few weeks after they opened and I'm now a weekly regular. Best of all, NO ONE UNDER 18 Allowed! So no kids running around. It's a dream come true. The bar has a great selection of canned and bottled beers with a Happy Hour that helps your wallet. A good selection of wine and liquor to. No draft as of yet, but ya don't need it. My Usual order is a IPA and a Shot of Fernet. But I can never leave without a Resting Peach Face Frozen Cocktail or a Bushwhacker. Ask for a Fernet Topper on you're Bushwhacker. I call it the Emmy Jane Special, no one else does XD. Trust me it works. I love the Egg Rolls and The Burgers. The Dutch boy is a fave, but the Big Mick is also delish. They have a lot of weekly events, Karaoke, Trivia, Live Music. Follow their Facebook for their yummy weekly specials. Overall consistently have been happy with everything I have eaten, but I will say that while still pretty good the burgers are not as good as they were early on. One of the big draws for me has always been the outdoor patio area that is shared with the other businesses that are part of the Trussville Entertainment District (TED). The covering over the area keeps you out of the direct sun but still has a very open air feel. On my most recent visit I got the Feral Smash Burger with Cheddar instead of American Cheese. I ordered the tots for my side because I swore that I had gotten them many times in the past. Looking back at all my photos, clearly I was mistaken. Since I am not a big fan of sweet potato the bartender brought me fries instead to go with my side of Beer Cheese which is well worth the added cost. Depending on when you go, you may have to go inside to order at the bar for the outdoor seating (such as I did today). Other days when the TED is busier and peak times you can order at the outdoor bar. For solo lunch dining I prefer other options in the TED but Ferus is great for groups and outdoor dining. I am sure I will be back especially when my daughter comes to town since she likes to refill her growler with the seasonal sours.

Hidden Gem That Lives Up to the Hype…read more This spot in Trussville, AL is great. I came with friends after seeing how strong the reviews were, and it definitely lived up to them. What looks like a typical sports bar is actually a well-known gem for a reason. The food was excellent across the board. We ordered mozzarella sticks, shrimp, chicken tenders, and fries everything came out hot, fresh, and really well done. Our server was kind and attentive, and the atmosphere was exactly what you'd want lively, fun, and comfortable. The price was right too, actually coming in under what I expected, which made the experience even better. Overall: Easy 5/5, this place knows it's good, and it should.

The sports bar atmosphere is a very loud environment so it is not conducive to a lot of talking but still an enjoyable experience. My wife really likes the Zydeco Salad (sweet chili-glazed fried shrimp, mixed greens, cabbage, candied pecans, jalapeños, tortilla strips, red onions, bell peppers, jack cheese, pepper jelly vinaigrette). Pepper Jack Boudin (jack cheese, pepper jelly vinaigrette) is almost always a part of our order. If you have never had, I recommend you give them a try. The Voodoo Shrimp & Grits (bacon-wrapped jalapeño and cream cheese stuffed-shrimp tossed in sweet chili glaze, served with cheddar grits) are an interesting take on the traditional Louisiana dish. I had never had corn mixed in with my grits before but it was a nice addition. The dish is large enough to split, especially when you add the boudin and Beignet Bites for a full meal. The Seafood Poboy with a choice of boom boom shrimp, fried shrimp or fried catfish with tomato, lettuce, pickles, mayo, poboy bread is another great option.

We ordered the 2 for $25 meal which included an appetizer and 2 entrees. The boneless wings were okay. They were fried hard but edible. My entree was the blackened Cajun salmon with garlic mashed potatoes and seasoned broccoli. My guy had the 6 oz sirloin with the same sides. I kid you not....not a drop of seasoning was anywhere near my food. Not on the broccoli (which even states in the description that it's seasoned), no garlic in the potatoes, no Cajun nor blackened seasoning on the salmon. To their defense, the salmon was cooked to my liking, and so was the broccoli. But if disappointment was a plate of food....this was it. My guy noticed the same thing. Sigh. For my complimentary birthday dessert (sign up for yours in the reward program/app), I ordered the triple chocolate meltdown. It was just okay...bland as the rest of the food. Even the vanilla ice cream was lacking vanilla flavor. Sigh again. Applebees was the first restaurant I went to in high school with my friends. So it will always be near and dear to my heart. You never forget your first. But this food here, 30 years later, was unremarkable and definitely forgettable. How do you not season the seasoned broccoli?!? I can't make this stuff up!
