To celebrate my upcoming birthday, I decided to visit this location after work recently. We were seated after a short wait. Our server Jacob (I think) was cool and fun. We ordered the 2 for $25 meal which included an appetizer and 2 entrees. The boneless wings were okay. They were fried hard but edible. My entree was the blackened Cajun salmon with garlic mashed potatoes and seasoned broccoli. My guy had the 6 oz sirloin with the same sides. I kid you not....not a drop of seasoning was anywhere near my food. Not on the broccoli (which even states in the description that it's seasoned), no garlic in the potatoes, no Cajun nor blackened seasoning on the salmon. To their defense, the salmon was cooked to my liking, and so was the broccoli. But if disappointment was a plate of food....this was it. My guy noticed the same thing. Sigh. For my complimentary birthday dessert (sign up for yours in the reward program/app), I ordered the triple chocolate meltdown. It was just okay...bland as the rest of the food. Even the vanilla ice cream was lacking vanilla flavor. Sigh again. Applebees was the first restaurant I went to in high school with my friends. So it will always be near and dear to my heart. You never forget your first. But this food here, 30 years later, was unremarkable and definitely forgettable. How do you not season the seasoned broccoli?!? I can't make this stuff up! read more

Came in for an early Dinner, 4:30ish. Our server was great, friendly and attentive. They weren't too busy so it was all great. Then there was a shift change and it fell apart. I've had multiple bad experiences at Applebees. The food is always terrible and either raw or burnt to a crisp. The last time I went I heard a grown man moaning in the back. We came here on a Saturday evening after my daughters pageant to have dinner. When we got there, we were seated immediately so the way it wasn't long at all. The problem started when we waited at the table for our waiter or waitress to come and take our drink orders. That seemed like it took forever. Finally, she came around and took our drink orders. We waited, and waited, and waited... Then another waitress came and took our drink orders again. We waited, waited, waited,... Finally, the manager came over and offer us two appetizers on the house (we were a party of 6). We thank the manager and placed our order for appetizers and once again, we waited and waited for the appetizers to come out. Finally, we decided to order our main course and this is where the problems get worse. Pretty much everything we ordered we sent back. I had the Bourbon Street chicken and shrimp, so did my brother-in-law. The chicken was tiny and way overcooked the chicken and shrimp both had too much garlic on it. It was inedible. My daughter had the kids, chicken tenders and fries. The chicken tenders were fried way too hard. My sister ordered the steak which she ordered medium and it came out well overdone she could hardly cut through it. Mynephew ordered the burger he said it was OK. He ate it just because he was hungry. My niece had the ribs and fries. She said the ribs were just OK and needed more sauce. This will be my last time at Apple Bees. The customer side of the restaurant was visibly dirty to the point where they sat us in a seat with no light and replaced the bulb I should have left then Our food came out not looking like food we had ordered from other Applebees and some of it looked visibly congealed like it had been reheated in a microwave We sent that part back and ate the food that looked ok.... I had made a pickup order on my app, went to pick it up, when I got home , the grilled chicken and shrimp was over cooked, especially the grilled chicken, it was actually burnt. We've come here several times and the service has always been good, despite it being fairly busy during those times. We took advantage of the two for $20 or two for $25 deals that they are usually running. The food was good, though the roasted potatoes could use a bit more seasoning. The food is adequate, but the reason for the four stars is all due to the staff - Our server Mary in particular. We are currently in the process of gaining custody of our granddaughter and in the meantime we are traveling 8 hours round trip for visits. When we walked into Applebees on the 16th and told them the situation and we would be here 2 hours they didn't hesitate to make us welcome. Mary was so gracious and understanding which made us not feel like a burden as we have felt at other restaurants. Due to how great the staff was, we came back on the 19th for our next visit and we will be back for another and another. We like this a great place to pop in for lunch or dinner . Of course everything there is always clean in its place and the waitress was friendly and so was the hostess . They care for glasses fool and made sure we had everything we needed and the food was excellent. It's always good to eat at restaurants that offer happy hours and Applebee's is no different. When came here 20 minutes before happy hours started, but that didn't keep me from ordering my meal and I just waited until 3pm to order the half off appetizer. Since I had order water, I didn't realize that you have to purchase a beverage in order to get the half off appetizers, but the waitress just gave it to me since one of my friends had already purchase a drink. I notice they added nachos on there appetizer, (not including in the happy hours) so I went with that since I wanted something different than my usual. The nachos is enough for two people to share and I would suggest eating them while at the restaurant since they weren't as good after warming them up in the toaster oven the next day. As for the appetizer, the mozzarella sticks are always hot and they were even better with me getting them half off from the original price. read more

My husband and I ordered carside and got two burgers because I have craved a bacon cheeseburger for days. We had to wait an extra 30 minutes longer than estimated which would have been fine if our food was acceptable. I received a burger with an accidental sliver of bacon (about the size of a paper clip). So my husband made the bacon at home. Then I opened up my lettuce and pickles topping and a dead fly was smashed on the pickle. We were very disappointed, and are unlikely to return to this establishment. read more

I don't know what was going on in this place but this was the worst service I've ever gotten. Not that the servers were rude but I feel that this was way worse; I was never served let alone acknowledged to get a food order. I was quickly served cocktails, or what is a parody of one, was the $1 Long Island Iced Tea aka L.I.I.T and even though it's very cheap, it still tasted watered down. I had waited over 25 minutes AT THE BAR before being acknowledged again and the server wanted to offer me another drink. The server gave me a food menu but never took my order. I don't understand this logic. It's not like it was slammed or packed. I ended up paying for my drinks posthaste and left extremely hungry and unsatisfied. Truly I was disappointed in the lack of care and concern for me as a customer. I don't think I'll be coming back here or at least not so soon. I know I'm just a drop in the bucket for this place but it's the principal of the matter. sorry but we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated as a group of 4 even though there was no one in the restaurant. the customer service was not great which i cannot say if it is poor training due to management or the servers themselves. hostile vibes. the food was rank. there happened to be no silverware so we had to eat our meat using plastic forks which was not easy. things were constantly forgotten, the server rarely came to check on us. i could tell other tables around us were not happy either:/ lots of waiting and incompetence. all in all, would NOT recommend coming to this applebees, skip it or make the drive to a different location. read more

My visit to this location was very disappointing. When I walked in the door, there was food and trash on floor. There was no hostess to seat us and one of the waitresses yelled across the restaurant "do we have a hostess?" When the hostess finally arrived, she walked us to a table that clearly had nacho chips and trash underneath. The other guest in my party remarked that the floor was dirty and the hostess said "yeah, but the table is clean." I like the food and I like the waitress shes very nice and friendly the half price appetizers are good I like their wings and mozzarella sticks. The place is always clean and organized their food is always hot and fresh every time I come here it never disappoints they have half off price appetizers from 3-7 and you can get mozzarella sticks, chicken quesadillas, boneless wings, spinach artichoke dip, sriracha shrimp, and brew pub pretzels. My wife and I went to eat there Thursday around 4:15 and were seated in the bar area. There were three drunk morons at the bar -- I mean the type of people who really make you question American society -- using profanity, spouting the F word every other breath, talking loudly about adult content and making overtly racist comments. I asked one of the servers if it was always like this and she said, "Yes sir, I'm sorry it is." So, that's our last trip. If you're a couple or a family looking for someplace decent, avoid this restaurant. If you're a person of color, you should gather up eight or 10 of your friends and go grab a seat at the bar during Happy Hour. You could probably clean the place up pretty quickly. read more

Good service and great staff! We go a couple times a week and cant beat the happy hour specials and drinks. They also have several good items on the menu. I am writing this update to express my displeasure with some changes that Applebee's has made. The lunch special that I raved about in my other review now no longer comes with the drink. This wasn't communicated with us when we visited either, so a meal that is normally less than $9 before tip was nearly $12. My last visit was not very good, though the manager did comp our meal. Our server was overloaded and couldn't give any tables the attention they needed (though she did the best she could). It also took over half an hour for our table to get food, then my salad was wrong and it took another 15 minutes to get that corrected. By the time it came back correct, the rest of the table was finished. Keep in mind that nobody had anything that would take a long time to cook. One had just side dishes, two of us had the soup/salad and one had a pretzel appetizer. I guess they figure since they don't have the 14 minute guarantee anymore that they can take forever. I'll go back and give them another shot because they've been really good up until now, but it's only going to take one more mediocre experience to change my mind. read more

So, I will say this. I will never return to this Applebee's. We came to pick up a carryout order and to be honest, the whole order was screwed up. We call to let the manager know and I had to drive back to the store to have everything remade. Manager left me standing for several minutes knowing I was there. During that time the person that screwed up the packaging for my order comes up to ask what she can do for me. My response, double check your orders. Duh!!! The manager finally comes up and says he is gonna fix everything. He would need a few minutes. So far I have been sitting here for 15 and nothing. I don't care that it's Saturday night. You messed up the order not me. Your team should driven to my house and fixed the problem. I wish the Trussville area had more than all these chains. Ugh. read more
