I love the food here. Usually go for breakfast. The people working there are so nice. Great place to go.

I grew up coming to this place. My dad also grew up coming to this place. I've lived away for almost 25 years but every trip home I'm sure to stop in. There's nothing like the red hotdogs served here, a Maine delicacy. Food is always fresh and hot and the staff are incredibly welcoming. read more

The place was surrounded by sketchy looking people in the parking lot and the sidewalk. As soon as I pulled in they all stared me down. When I got out of my car to go in a few of these people postured like they wanted to jump me. Ordered my food to go. Food was ok. Cheap! But unfortunately due to the sketchy people loitering around i dont think ill come back to this place. Absolutely doesnt feel safe. Police should probably drive by from time to time to break up the loitering. read more

Top notch food and customer service

Yes, you will smell like hot dog and onions the rest of the day!! My coworkers have been raving about Simone's for years. Now that in-person meetings are happening once more at work (thanks COVID). I had business in Lewiston and they insisted after our meeting we get "red snappers" at Simones'. You smell that oniony-magic the minute you come around the corner and see the little red hot dog stand. We hit the lunch rush and found a table for 6 in the back. This is a tiny, funky, crowded, dine in sit down kinda place. The vibe is bustling, you can tell the locals love it, they banter with the staff, the staff joke and razz each other. The news is on, the dogs are cooked right there before your eyes. Grilled or steamed they come naked, loaded with chili, cheese, you name it. People are very particular when they order their dogs. "Mustard and Onion on the bottom" I heard one guy say. The red snapper is a Maine staple. The snap when you take that first bite, the pillowy steamy Country Kitchen buns. OMG. Your mouth with love you. The dogs are the stars for sure. We also got a side of onion rings and fries for the table. There were six of us and we couldn't finish them off! Onion rings are the perfect balance of batter to onion, golden crunchy on the outside the onion perfectly cooked on the inside. The fries were super crispy and I could have made a meal of those alone. First timers HAVE to sign the guest book! (The owner will come and ask who has never been - there were 2 newbies in my group, one was me). Nearly every table was full and the counter top as well but the food came out fast, piping hot, and was served with a smile. Grab your own drinks and pay at the register on the way out. The dessert menu looked decent too. We shared the banana cake which was banana bread with frosting. It tasted like grandmas. Moist, cold, I wish I had a glass of milk to wash it down. If you find yourself in Lewiston, it's totally worth the experience to get a red snapper from Simones. I can't believe it took me this long to get there! read more

Hotdog Wednesday is the best! The crew and I get it every week. It's a perfect lunch fix with a old school feel.

Loved this place. Great burger & hot dog dive. Locally/family owned. Well worth the stop.

I have eaten at this restaurant two times now. The first time I got the red hotdog and it was very good. Today I got the breakfast sandwich and it was delicious. The ladies preparing the food were very kind and helpful and the food is fantastic. It is an old diner feel but it is nice and clean and the food and service are amazing. I will definitely come back for more of this yummy food. read more

This place has the best steamed red hot dogs in all of New England. This is a must stop for all passer-bys when traveling through Lewiston. The customer service is outstanding and its the owners who run it. It's been in their family for many decades now. Every time I go I order two red steamed hot dogs w/onions, mustard and ketchup, a bag of chips and a soda. Cost me under $5. I would go here everyday if I could. Heard nothing but great things about this place and they were correct. The ladies that work there are extremely friendly and if it is your first time there they have you sign a guest book. Get the dogs any way they came. Tried the steamed and the chili and they are so amazing. Omg if they have soup, get it, you will not regret it. So fresh and a homey feel. read more

If you haven't been to this lunch spot, then you should check it out. It is one of Lewiston Maine's treasures and is as American as apple pie. You will not find as welcoming a place as this one. read more

This family run restaurant has been operating since 1908 and not much has changed and that's good. Don't change what works. This delightful little spot is a busy place with non stop business from patrons at the bar to phone orders to walk In orders. Despite all going on I never felt rushed. The service was incredible. Everyone there was smiling and enjoyed being there. This isn't a typical sit down restaurant. Come in grab your drink either from the fountain or the cooler and grab a seat. Someone will take your order and drop your food off. When you are done (or decide you may also need more to take home) you pay at the register. Wednesday are $1 steamed hot dogs and all hot dogs are those delicious Maine red snappers. They served em up topped how you want even with grilled onions. Celery salt is on the table. The onion rings are beer battered crispy snacks. The French fries are my favorite type, double fried. The chili cheese dogs aren't to be missed, loaded with a meaty chili and melty cheese. They also have a breakfast menu and other lunch options. read more

The first thing I want to eat when I visit home isn't a lobster roll, but a Maine Italian. A good red snapper is a close second. I finally tried this place and was not disappointed. The grilled snappers with mustard were fabulous and the chili went from great to stupendous with a liberal shaking of hot sauce. The prices are cheap, the service was fast and friendly. read more

Great food and great people. When you walk in here they make you feel like family, you are never treated like a stranger here.

The food is great there's a lot of options. Good customer service. Affordable prices.

This place is awesome. I only go on Wednesdays when it's steamed hot dog day, where all steamed dogs are only $1. You can't beat this deal and the service is always great. Highly recommend checking this little place out if you're in town. read more

This is a must do! Such amazing home cooked meals and the team there is without question the friendliest! So happy to support our local business! read more

I've lived in this area my whole life and everyone knows, with good reason, that Simones' has the best hot dogs you can get in our state. I'd forgotten one thing though, how great the house special is. A delicious bowl's worth of chili poured over two of their great hot dogs and buns in (my case) a to-go container filled almost to the top. By the time you eat it the sauce from the chili has soaked into the bun giving you a delicious wrap around once you find it and the hot dogs. It's the world's most delicious form of Where's Waldo and for under $8 a great deal to bring home for a meal with a good amount of leftovers. If you come to central Maine, stop in and meet the awesome people who work there and eat some of the best red hot dogs you'll eat in your life. read more

Simones' Hot Dogs is an institution in Lewiston. When I moved away, I had to come back and visit every time I came home. Marc C. couldn't be more right when he says that customers quickly become friends. The Simones and staff couldn't be friendlier and always make you feel at home. The walls are lined with photos of Maine and national politicians that have visited over the years and it is THE place to go to talk politics in Lewiston. I recommend the Maine steamed red hotdogs (but they have grilled beef dogs if you aren't brave enough to give them a shot), the chili cheese dogs (house special), or the tuna melt. Don't forget to order a half and half (onion rings and french fries) to go along with your order! read more

Simones' Hot Dog Stand - Hot dog special - Hot Dogs Near Me - Lewiston, Maine

Most will rave about the red hot dogs --- but the expertly grilled buns are the real treat here. You may have to ask for them if you order a steamed dog (which is quite tasty), but the buttered, crispy goodness is worth the trouble. The lobster roll is very simple --- not even a token leaf of lettuce --- and is served on a hamburger bun (somewhat warmed, but not buttered and toasted). A fairly standard selection of beverages, fries, or onion rings (I'd suggest the half-and-half) rounds out the "combo-deal" package. The best part of the newspaper clippings on the wall is that they framed the entire page --- you can read about 18-year-old School Board soap operas. read more

Of all the phrases I expected to use in reviews from my recent trip to Lewiston, I never thought that I would be using the phrase "disarmingly pink" in any reviews...never mind multiple reviews. But here I go! Simone's dogs are disarmingly pink. Once you get over that (and, really, you should just get over that), you will find yourself seriously enjoying your dog. Great 'snap' to the bite, classic New England bun, and delicious thin sliced onion rings. Add to that the classic diner feel and friendly, chatty staff...you'll feel right at home. The dogs are seriously pink though...seriously. read more

Local place, want eat a 'local hot dog' the Mainer dog? This is the place. Also a good place to talk local and national politics.

Simones' is a landmark eatery in Lewiston, Maine. I have been eating here since I was a kid. Now that I live in North Carolina, it is a "must stop" when I'm in Maine for vacation. Simones' Hot Dog Stand has been a fixture on Chestnut Street since it was founded by a Greek immigrant family in 1908. It is still a family run operation where customers quickly become friends. Simones' has become a requisite campaign stop for the state and nation's most prominent politicians when visiting Lewiston. Grab a stool at the bar and enjoy some of the best "Maine snapper" hotdogs around. Look around and you may chat up a local businessman, a police officer, the local street person or the mayor. Everyone is equal when dining at Simones' The dogs and buns are freshly steamed and "all the way" means onions, mustard and relish. They snap when you bite them and have taste you just can't find outside of Maine. The burgers, fries, lobster rolls are all pretty good but, hotdogs are what made them famous. Be sure to stop in when you're in Lewiston and say hello to Jimmy and the gang. read more

We visited Simones' for the first time and were quite happy! We didn't want to stop at the rest area on 95 while traveling, so Yelp led me to Simones'. They have a few tables on the sidewalk which was great since we had out dog with us. The staff is both friendly & kind offering us a bowl of water for the dog. The food is freshly prepared with each order and very tasty. One son got a hot dog and the other got a cheesesteak--both were pleased. We got their chef salad with grilled chicken. It was very tasty and filling--so much better than the rest stop would have been! Bonus--right across the street is a public park so the dog got a nice walk before getting back on the road. A very pleasant experience. It's no wonder they've been in business for 108 years! read more

Ok, hot dogs... welcome to America, where most people are overweight and should eat better. That said, their dogs are nothing spectacular and only taste better because they're slathered in condiments. Don't waste your time, get a turkey burger or something nutritious like a salad. read more
